How to get all NPCs.
I was bored.
Stop saying they just need houses and all of them will come. It's not true, some don't even need houses the first time you get them.
I spent 2 days on this ;-;

The title explains what this guide is about

So I was bored and decided to do something that I love to do, collect NPCs. So I'm here today to tell you how to get all NPCs in Terraria.
If any adminstrator on steame feels that this should be removed please just comment(with verification that you are an adminstrator and not some guy who just hates me and terraria or something) and I'll gladly remove it, trouble is the last thing I want.

House requirements

As the player you can live in whatever filfth you want to live in, but the NPCs have standards. Be polite, be efficent, and hav-Wait wrong standards. NPCs require a house with the following

• Any type of wall EXECPT for dirt.
  
• Some light, like a torch or something
  
• A door(Duh)
  
• I don't know how large but I just do a 8x6 (8 across 6 up)house.
  
• A chair
  
• A table

You can make multiple people live in the same house however by dividing the house into sections, all of which having this requirements in their section.

The screenshot is an example of a house divided into segments, each segment having the requirement of a single house. Each segment can also be seen as an example of a house.

The guide (We're talking about a guide in a guide, guide sepction?)

You know the blonde dude that is the thumbnail of this guide and you spawn off with. Yeah, that's the first NPC you get. You don't really need to learn how to get him but it's really simple and this is your backup incase he dies or Spoiler ---> Sacrifice him to the wall of flash to activate hard mode
His requirements is

• A free house.

That's it.
What does he do? He tells you what you can make with what, basic beginner tips on playing the game.(Well duh, you spawn with him.)
You don't need the game to be in hard mode to get him (Hard mode, not hard difficulty)
Spoiler explination to hard mode
Hardmode comes after you sacrifice the guide to the wall of flesh and beat the wall flesh. During hardmode the corruption/crimson on your world well start to spread along with the hallow, a magical place with unicorns(Don't fall for it's looks though). Hardmode introduces new bosses, metal versions of previously beat bosses, harder mobs, new NPCs, better items, and new things to do.
Guide should look like this.

Merchant

The merchant is a guy who likes to sell stuff.
That's really it.
His requirements

• You have to have more than 50 silver coins on you at all times(until he arrives).
  
• A spare house.

He does not require hardmode
He should look something like this
You get coins by killing stuff, btw.

Nurse

The nurse is going to be one of the most useful NPCs you'll get throughout the whole game (That's if you don't mind bringing your bosses to your house and letting them blow up everything and possibly killing all the NPCs)
She heals you for coins, the amount of coins you have to pay depends on the amount of HP you're missing (Say, if you're missing 1 heart she won't charge you too much, but if you're missing like 12 hearts.... yeah.....)
Her requirements are

• Have the merchant dude around you.
  
• Have a spare house on you.
  
• You have used at least one heart crystal.

She looks like this

Clothier/Old Man

This guy sells you clothes, which I never bought because I didn't really like what he sold execpt for the familiar clothes (Which make you look like you're not wearing anything making it nice to hide armor in PVP and confusing everyone.)
How do you get this guy?

• You must defeat Skeletron by speaking to the old man(Which is actually him) at night to summon him.
  
• You must have a spare house for him to move into.

If you didn't see above already or couldn't peace it together he it is the cursed old man in the dungeon that you free the curse of.
In the case he is to die you do not need to go to the temple and fight skeletron again, a new one will just come without a curse.

Tavernkeep

it's 2018 and here I am updating this thing.
Requirements for getting this bad boi

• Brain of Cthulhu or Eater of Worlds is defeated
  
• A spare house
  
• You have found him and talked to him.

After you beat one of the two of those bosses he will randomly spawn anywhere on the world just sleeping on the ground. Just talk to him and he will move in. If he gets killed after you talked to him there is no need to find him again, he'll respawn by himself.
He only accept defender medals.

Dye Trader

You know how you found that cool looking plant in the middle of nowhere that was sure wasn't there bfeore, and you mined it and it was named "Strange plant."
Well this guy actually gives you a use for these useless items by trading you cool dyes for them.
This is personally my favorite NPC because I always loved the dyes that he would give and expirment it with items.
Requirements

• A spare house
  
• You must have a item that is a dye or can make a dye in your inventory OR a strange plant
  
• A boss is defeated (Having a strange plant can bypass this rule)

If you're wondeirng how to get a dye easily, go to the nearest desert and punch the pink thing off of the cactus(note not all cactuses have one)

Dryad

Ever wanted to know how much of your world is corrupted with crimson/corruption or (Don't look to find out if you don't want the game spoiled as it comes later, after hard mode.) The hallow
Well this person can tell you any time which percent of your world is pure or whatever. She also sells powder that makes the world pure again (like small patches depending on the powder) I wouldn't recommend doing that....it's just....pointless....There is a better way that comes later in the game.
How do you get this person?

• Have a spare house
  
• Kill any boss in the game execpt for king slime or wall of flesh

Don't know how to fight a boss? Go underground find some health crystals, spam them, get good decent-ish armor, get decent-ish tools, and have 3 other NPCs.

Demolitionist

Want to blow up stuff? No?

For the people who want to blow up stuff please continue reading this :)
This guy sells you all the stuff you need to blow up stuff like innocent goldfish to annoying bosses.
What do you need to get this cool guy?
Find pots underground and break tons of them or loot chests in hopes to find a gernade or normal bomb as his requirements are

• Have a bomb in your inventory (gernade and dynamite is included)
  
• Have a spare house.

He looks something lile this in-game

Arms dealer

He sells you customizable arms. No jk
Arms dealer is a NPC that sells you guns and ammo for thsoe guns. Guns make Terraria such a better game in my opinion.
Requirements

• A house
  
• Ammo/Gun

How do you find ammo or gun? Breaking a shadow orb in the corruption biome or breaking a crimson orb in the crimson biome and it'll have a chance of dropping a gun.
He should look something like this

Painter

He doesn't...really sell you anything that I ever used... But as from his name he sells paintings and wall paper.
His requirements?

• Guide is present
  
• 5 other NPCs alongside the guide is present
  
• A spare house is aviable

He looks like this

Stylish

This girl , just like the painter in my opinion is pretty useless as I never used her nor the painter at all for anything, but I still collected her as I was trying to achieve all NPCs.
How do you get here?

• Find her in a spider dungeon webbed up and right click on her.

A house is not required for this person but do note they will stay down in the spider dungeon if you do not have a spare house for them to move into and will most likley be killed down there as they will not move to the overworld.
She looks something like this
If in the case she is to die, just have a spare house and new one will come. No need to go searching a spider dungeon for her.

Angler

The angler is by far one of the easiest guys to get in a small world, but the second you get him you become his slave, fishing for him. Hey, at least he gives you items in return.
His requirements

• Go to the nearest ocean and find him sleeping and then free him.

Note that he does not need a house, but will stay at the site where you found him if you do not supply him a house and may most of the time drown because you find him in the ocean and he is too dumb to get out.
He looks like this
Once you find him, and he somehow dies you do not have to find him again, just have a spare house.
Fun fact:He does not die, whenever he goes to 0 hitpoints he leaves instead of being slain.

Goblin Tinker

The goblin tinker will be one of the most useful guys you can get as if you give him cash and an item he will change the quality of the item (Like legendary or small) to a different one, it is not guarneted however that it will be a good quality. Bassicly asking him to do that is a gamble for your money, note that the cost of money depends on the item and the quality (For ex:If it's a bad quality then it'll cost less to re-quality or whatever.) His requirements are.

• Survive the goblin invasion
  
• Find him some random place underground and right click on him

Note, he does not require a house but it is recommended that he gets a house because if there is no spare hosue he will stay at the sight where you freed him and will most likley die because the skeleton dungeon is a very dangerous place for an NPC to be running around in.
Another note, in order to have enter the skeleton dungeon you must defeat Skeletron by speaking to the old man at night
How do you get the goblin invason?

• Have 200 HP(Which can be gained by mining and using heart crystals which is found underground)
  
• It must be day time
  
• You must have smahed at least one crimson or corruption orb in your world which can be found in either the corruption biome or crimson biome.

He should look something like this

Witch Doctor

Please someone other than me get this refernece.

The witch doctor is a pretty cool guy, depending which statue you buy and activate he can change the color of your water (OMG:THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!!! IKR?!??!?!?!) Otherwise, I don't know, I never used him for anything else. His requirements are

• Queen Bee is defeated
  
• A spare house is open.

How does one find queen bee? All you need to do is go to the jungle, look for honey, once you find honey look around the area, find a beehive, mine into, mine the bee abomination thingy inside the honey stone and queen bee will appear. There are more than one bee hive in the world.
What does he look like?

Mechanic

This person is very useful for doing mechanical stuff like teleporters and activating statues and etc.
This person can be found inside the skeleton dungeon. Note that you must defeat skeletron by asking the old man at night to fight him in order to enter this dungeon without being instantley kill by the Dungeon Guardian(Who you can actually kill, I've done it.)
Her requirements are

• Find her in the dungeon and right click on her.

Note:The first time you see her she doens't require a house, but she will stay where you found her and I recommend getting her a house becuas ethe skeleton dungeon is very dangerous and she can die very easily.
She looks osmething like this.
In the case she is to die all you need a spare house, you don't need to go back into the dungeon and find a new one.

Party Girl

Her confetti gun is the bomb.
Requirements:

• A spare house
  
• 13 other NPCs present in the world that are insides houses.

She looks like this.

Grumpy Tax collector

This guy is cool, he takes cash from other people who live with you(The more people the faster he makes cash) and you can colllect it from him.
His requirements:

• Hard mode is activated
  
• Find a tortured soul in hell and throw purfication powder at him.

He does not require a house to be in your world, but does require a house to collect money.
The grumpy dude looks something like this
In the case he is to die, a new one will come no need to go back to hell and throw more purifcation powder at the decently rare tortured souls.

Wizard

You're a wizard Harry.
The only use I had for him was to buy his cool wizard hat.
His requirements

• Hard mode
  
• Right click on him , he is somewhere underground and free him.

He does not require a house, but it is recommended you get him one or else he will get brutally murdered down there in the underground. And if he is to die, no need
to go back underground. All you need is a spare house and a new one will come by himself.
He looks like this.

Steampunker

The steampunker is very useful. She sells the cleminator and ammo for that to cure your world from Corruption or Crimson or Hallow.
Her requirements

• Defeat one of the 3 mechanical bosses
  
• Hard mode
  
• A spare house is aviable.

In hard mode, one of the 3 mechanical bosses everynight have a 10% of appearing.
She should look something like this

Cyborg

The Cyborg is a pretty cool guy to have, mostly becuase he looks cool. I don't really have any good use for him.
His requirements.

• Planteria is defeated
  
• A spare house is open.
  
• Hard mode

How do you beat up that giant plant eating blossom thing? Well you go into the jungle and look for something that looks like it and it glows in the dark. Smash it. Yes, smash it, then the real thing will appear.
Cyborg looks something like this

Truffle

This guy like the cyborg also looks cool, execpt there is something that you'll actually like to buy from him. A baby truffle! It's him but smaller! IT'S SO ADORABLE!!! I COULD JUST HUG IT ALL DAY....
Anyhow back to the guide. His requirements.

• Spare house that is open
  
• Spare house that is open must be built ontop of a mushroom biome that is on the overworld.
  
• Hard mode is activated

Note, he can not move out of the mushroom biome, sadly.
How do you make your own mushroom biome?
Go to the jungle, grab a bunch of mud, make a giant 2 layer deep mud ground. Go underground, smash the living life out of all the underground shrooms til you get a shroom seed. Place the seed in the mud, wait a few days and the shroom will spread making an overworld shroom biome. Note, if you accidently shoot this newly made biome with purfication powder or green solution it will turn it into a jungle.
He should look something like this however.

Pirate/Blackbeard/Jack sparrow/Sterotypical Pirate name

Yar mates! HERE COMES YUR PIRATE!!!
If he lives on a beach he sells a cool bird that follows you, you know.
His requirements

• Hard mode
  
• Pirate invasion is beat
  
• A spare house is free

How does one summon a pirate invasion?

• Kill the wall of flesh
  
• Smash one of the alters to death using that hammar the wall of flesh dropped
  
• Asorb a bunch of heart crystals you found underground until you have 200 hp.

[TEMPORARY] Santa the mother f*cking clause.

It's santa. WHO DOENS'T WANT SANTA?
YOU DON'T WANT SANTA? YOU'RE DEAD TO ME. GET OVER HERE.

Okay, that is enough of that.
He is santa what else do you need to know?
His requirements:

• Hardmode
  
• Frost legion is defeated
  
• A spare house.

Note:He only lives with you from December 15 - December 31
How does one summon the frost legion?
Get a bunch of presents.
Open all those presents.
One of those will have a snow globe.
Use the snow globe and kill all the snowmen.
DON'T CONFUSE THIS WITH THE FROST MOON.
He should look something like this though.

[TEMPORARY] Traveling Merchant

The second I see this guy I drown him for his hat and I collect his hat.
His requirements

• 2 other NPCs are present.
  
• Guide is one of the NPCs present

He does not spawn everyday, he has a 22% to spawn at the start of day and if you do get him, he'll leave by night time.
He looks like this.

[TEMPORARY] Skeleton Merchant

The first time I saw this guy, I thoguht he was hostile and tried as hard as I can to murder him.
His requirements.

• Be underground

He is found randomly underground, and I don't know how he disappears. Someone told me he teleports to a different place at 4 o clock. Therefore, he doens't stay with you forever and he will leave.
I'm not sure, but I don't think monsters attack him.
Skeletons don't attack him but other monsters do.

Congratulations you survived reading my boring guide and hopefully will get all NPCs using this and look back at it when your friends ask you how to get all NPCs. This not only tells you the requirements of NPCs, but tells you the requirements of the requirements of the NPCs(If that makes sense LOL, bassicly how to get the requirements.) and what I use them for.
