Introduction
Hello, Ratchet here.

Under Construction for PTR Patch 1.6.0.6135

This guide will cover all roles currently playable in-game. This guide is geared towards Ranked players and those hoping to survive All Any. This guide expects you to have full knowledge of all the roles (abilities/which is unique/actions and reactions) currently available and basic mechanics of the game. These strategies are based on over 2500 rounds of play through a course of over 1k hours. That given, the Town of Salem community is differing and winning for your team can only come down to competence, teamwork and possibly luck. It's a new crowd every game, do not expect everyone to know everything there is to do with the game or how to handle their role. Be ready to accomodate fellow players with information about roles or rules if needed and try to be courteous, at the end of the day it's only a game.

This guide is incomplete and will be updated as written.

Comments/Suggestions are welcome. We have not read other guides, this guide is based on collective in-game experiences and it is possible it shares the same information as other guides.

Day Cycle
Voting
Voting can make or break your team. Always pay attention to the votes and possibly keep a notepad open to keep track.
- Day 1 Executioners. Watch out for these. They happen all the time and will do whatever they can to get their target up on the scaffold. The longer they wait, the more information that can be gathered and the less likely their target will be lynched. If you are mafia it may benefit you to follow the Executioner's vote. There is a potential ally in store and one less Town role to deal with. That said, revealing information day 1 as an Investigator is not recommended. It's best to wait and gather more information before you become a target. There's also less chance of you being called an Executioner if you wait a few days.
- Get your leads heard and well supported. Always keep a will with valuable information to support your claims. Wills are every piece of evidence you need.
- (Recommended) 9/10 Times the voting will reveal who is evil and who is not. You don't need to be an investigative role to figure out the Mafia. Neutrals are a bit trickier to find and are usually spotted by other evil roles. If a Sheriff/Investigator steps forward with leads to Mafia, and their suspect is voted up and lynched, ignore the Guilty/Abstain/Innocent votes unless someone blatantly voted Innocent and there was solid proof. Go back and look at who voted the suspect up to be hung. Unless they talk amongst themselves previously, Mafia rarely vote eachother (unless given no choice). *Mafia voting eachother up can be gamethrowing considering the conditions and if they agreed to it or not. Keep a tab of who votes up which Mafia.

Defense
- I've noticed a lot of players struggle with coming up with a solid defense after being voted up.
An example of how not to defend yourself:
- Keep a will ready with information to relay to the chat. I can't stress this enough. A good role to claim is the Town equivalent of your own if you are Mafia unless there is a Town role to suggest otherwise. A Spy is a town role that can usually pick out a Consort from an Escort or other such ruses. A will is your best line of defense, whether it is telling the truth or not. Not having a will is almost a certain death sentence.
- (Mixed) Claim blackmailed. If there's no blackmailer present and it is later in the game I wouldn't recommend this method but if you have not spoken during the day you can attempt to appear blackmailed to buy more time to write a will.

Disguisers and Vampires
Let's talk briefly about these two roles.
- Revealed Mayors (Disguiser). Janitors. Given a Janitor and a cleaned role in the graveyard, IMMEDIATELY request a vote check on the Mayor. The Mayor refuses or shows 1 vote? Disguiser.
- Revealed Mayors (Vampire). Vampire bites are a bit more subtle to find, but obvious on a revealed Mayor. Lookout for Vampires or Vampire Hunters in the graveyard, or suspicious Lookout sightings, and request a vote check on the Mayor. Should they refuse, along with anyone stepping up with "he's the Mayor!" it is most likely they were bitten.
- Vigilantes. After shooting a Town role, a Vigilante will suicide, unless bitten by a Vampire. That will convert them and keep them alive, but will make it plainly obvious to see who the Vigilante turned Vampire is (unless they stayed quiet about the shooting the day before). Alert the Town should the Vigilante remain alive.

Last Wills
Pay close attention to Last Wills of the Graveyard. They can provide vital info.
- Disguisers. The best way to find a Disguiser is with a Spy or a last will. Read Wills carefully and make sure the name on the paper lines up with the name in the Graveyard. Be conscious of Forgers, they can fake a Disguiser on a dead Townie. This is even more believable given a Consigliere's input for a more accurate forged will. See what the accused Disguiser has to say, their role and any will they might provide. A will accusing the Jailor as a Disguiser runs the lines of a Forger so be aware.
- Forger and Consigliere. A Consigliere can check anyones role and provide the Forger with this information to Forge a fake, but accurate will (the target's name and a fake will relating to the role). They can also fake a Disguiser by using the target's accurately found role but with a different given name on the will.
- Spy's will. Excluding Transporters/Witches in-game, I usually make a list of who hasn't been visited by Mafia and narrow it down from there. Try to compare speech patterns if the Spy has any specific things said by Mafia listed.
VIP Mode
Here we'll cover some basic how-to knowledge concerning the Coven Chaos VIP game mode. This mode consists of similar mechanics to other game modes excluding one rule, the VIP. At the start of a match a VIP will be revealed to any Town members. Do not reveal this information to other players. The win conditions are as follows:

Town: Keep your VIP alive at all costs.
Coven: Find and kill the Town VIP.

The game mode is highly unbalanced in the Town's favor as it stands but here's a few tips to help you along. Keep in mind that this mode has no Executioners.

Sheriff
  • Sheriff can find Coven who do not have the Necronomicon.

Crusader
  • Your main priority will be to defend the VIP. Announcing yourself Day 1 is always a solid choice to avoid multiple Town Protective roles visiting the VIP the first night. Be wary of any 2nd Crusader claims for they may be Medusa.

Psychic
  • Reveal your results every day and request protection from the Trapper or another Town Protective that is not the Crusader. You are the primary voice of the Town given you cannot be witched into Medusa and cannot be counter claimed easily. Treat this role as you would the Mayor.

Vigilante
  • Avoid revealing yourself at all costs until the Coven Leader is killed. You remain a threat to the Town if the CL is alive and you are forced to reveal yourself. Save your bullets until absolutely necessary. If you are witched into the Medusa, you will be stoned and the Medusa will be shot. If you happen to get revealed and the CL is alive, a Trapper/Bg/Crusader on you is mandatory.

Pirate
  • Don't Be Aggressive: You don't have to treat this role as evil. Your win conditions depend on 2 players losing to your duel, that can be Town or Coven.
  • Find the VIP: Keep a list at all times of any roles that are openly revealed. This will come in handy for who you decide to side with. Decide early on if you want to help the Town or Coven, but don't be stagnant. This is about you winning. If the Coven gets the upper hand, don't be afraid to switch alliances.

The Coven
  • Keep a list of all revealed Town roles. The Town Protectives are the highest priority. They will stand between you and the VIP. Plan accordingly.
  • Medusa: You can stone 3 times without Necro. Use these early in conjunction with the CL to ensure your team has claim space.
  • Coven Leader: Use the first 3 nights to control targets into Medusa. Make sure your team is aware of the stoned roles and discuss claim space. The CL can be used in conjunction with the Potion Master or Poisoner to get to the VIP or another Town Protective. The Coven Leader can control the Crusader or other TP to not be on the VIP which the PM or Poisoner attacks the VIP.
Mayor
As the Mayor, it is your job to be a commanding figure. By revealing, you make yourself a target and a valuable ally. The Mayor can make or break the chances of the Town winning.

Survivability
- As one of the few roles which can prove their role during the day, the Mayor makes for a trustworthy and powerful town member. You are a very vulnerable target without a Bodyguard, Jailor or Transporter. I find Transporter to be the most responsible choice for defending the Mayor unless there is a known Bodyguard to take the first hit. A Transporter can swap the Mayor with any possible suspicious targets to provide protection. A Jailor can also jail the Mayor as a last resort, but this is not recommended due to Werewolves who could potentially take out the Jailor while aiming for the Mayor and the fact being that the Jailor is unable to perform their own investigations while babysitting the Mayor.

Weeding Out The Evil Roles
- (Recommended) Wait to reveal. Do what you must to not become a target. If this means blending into the background then do so. Unless your vote will make or break hanging a dangerous killing role, do not push the sun. Reveal if called out and necessary, but don't make it a waste. If you are forced to reveal, be a commanding figure and decide who stays and who goes. Usually after revealing the Townies flock to the Mayor. The Jailor, Bodyguard, Retributionist or Investigators will be the first to whisper you with any information to help the Town or provide Protection. It's a good idea to throw in a tidbit like "Bodyguard protect me" or "Jailor jail me" so as to deter the killers in case no one come forward to you as a protective role.
- Vote every day. Even if you don't have an idea who to hang, this can buy you valuable time to read the flood of whispers coming your way. The evil roles usually don't go out of their way to whisper a Mayor unless threatened. I prefer to vote up quiet people. The evil roles tend to float in the background once they know there's a Mayor willing to hang them at the drop of a hat. Don't be apologetic even if you hang the wrong Townie. Listen to the leads given and make your own Investigations. Is he a consigliere for suggesting neutral killers and no mafia suspects? Is he a killer for giving an immune role?
- Keep a will with specific information. If someone claims Bodyguard, put it in your will. If they're reading your will, obviously he's not doing his job (it's very rare for an Escort/Consort to interfere with a Bodyguard). If you suspect someone of being evil, put that in there too and possibly give a shout out the night before "We hang ____ tomorrow" incase a surprise Janitor pays you a visit. Do not put townies in your will (excluding openly revealed roles) unless they are not a priority, such as the Retributionist. If you know of a confirmed Investigator, Doctor or Jailor, have them contact each other and be aware. A Doctor cannot heal you once you have revealed yourself. Send him to heal the Jailor instead. Should you die, then there will be other Townies that can still hold ties.
- (Not Recommended) Some Mayors prefer to play what we call a "Mayor Game" by revealing the first or second day and demanding to be whispered roles. I wouldn't suggest this strategy given you might receive some disgruntled responses. Not every Townie, although good, repects this method of play and you might make more enemies than allies. The minority of Jailors will find it in their good graces to jail you night 1 to ensure your survival. Do not assume there is a Bodyguard to save you.
- (Mixed) Pretend to be a Survivor. This strategy only works given a specific type of crowd and it's a gamble between death or being investigated as a "leader among men" night 1, given the worst outcome. Should this work for you, stay neutral. You vote if there's a suspected evil role with proof, but otherwise try to play as a survivor would and remain neutral until absolutely necessary. I have had games with this strategy that have turned the tide of the town by revealing one of the last few days when the Town had an unwilling Jester or not enough votes. Unless the killers are willing to go after a "possible neutral ally," it's a safe bet you will be less likely to be attacked.

The Mayor is an important role but nothing to fret about. Depending the game mode, it's likely you will have many willing allies to support and defend you. The Mayor is all about working with given information and paying attention to the chat and votes.
Medium
A night whisperer for the Town, this role can be moderately important depending the occupants of the Graveyard and your team's cooperation.

Night Cycle
This role relies on the cooperation of the Graveyard occupants. This given, be aware of who you're speaking to. Do not trust the Mafia. Granted, a Neutral may out the Mafia or other Neutrals, due to their lack of alliance. But Mafia will always attempt to protect their own. On rare occasions there may be gamethrowing (dead Mafia revealing their own/etc), in which you should remain cautious, but report the offenders and hang them should the leads prove accurate. I recommend two different approaches to the Night Cycle. Always listen to the dead's commentary closely to tell if there is a second Medium. This is vital.
- (Recommended) The Medium doesn't hold much power. If the Graveyard is empty, players leave game or refuse to speak, you will remain watching the game for a long period. By Day 3-4, reveal your name to the dead and ask about a second Medium. Be assertive with this, finding a second Medium will be important if you both survive to end game. Should you find leads, report them immediately and state your role. Showing a will of some sort should not be necessary.
- (Mixed) Remain silent. There's a specific way you should play this out and it isn't the most ideal way of interrogating the dead. The first night or two, should only townies die, reveal yourself and tell them you plan to remain quiet for awhile. Tell them to not reveal there is a Medium to anyone else who dies and ask them to attempt to get anyone to reveal leads to them. Should the dead Townies play along, there will be occasional Neutral or Mafia deaths and the dead Townies will ask typical questions regarding roles. Given there is "no Medium," the majority of the dead Mafia find themselves comfortable enough to reveal the number of Mafia or even possibly members of their team. Granted, this isn't the most honorable way of playing and should a Retributionist appear, it's likely the resurrected Townie will not be aware of you being Medium (I have been hung by a Retri/Resurrected Town member for not speaking as a Medium when the dead chat was completely silent). Be sure to whisper them with your role and something someone had previously stated the night before to support your claim. I don't completely advise this method, but I have tested it many times and the Mafia usually reveal information they would not had they been aware of a Medium.

Spies and Vampire Hunters
Using an alive Medium and a dead Spy or Vampire Hunter can turn the tide of the game. The Medium can transfer all revelant information found.
- Spy. Write your Last Will similar to how a Spy would with any leads given to you and any visits that were not previously recorded. Keep in mind to watch for word language. If the Mafia speaks in a certain pattern (say lowercase, swearing, text faces, etc.) record that. It could possibly reveal who they are during the Day.
- Vampire Hunter. A Vampire Hunter can listen to the Vampire night chat and possibly deem who is bitten (speaking patterns) or who is about to be bitten should the Vampires reveal names.

Seance
Save your seance. It isn't there for you to ugly rage at whoever lynched you or attacked you. Should an important Town role join the graveyard this will be a good way to get your leads heard.
- Always Seance a protected or known Town role. Be quick with your info and make it concise. Writing a novel will make it difficult for the role seanced to get it in their will before the Day Cycle.
- You can go for achievements and Seance the Godfather/Arsonist/Serial Killer should the Town be doomed to fail.

Last Will
As usual, keep a Last Will stocked with information. Keep it open during the Night Cycle and report as much as possible. Remember to close it to save it even if you don't finish writing. Some information is better than nothing.
Consigliere
The behind the scenes Investigator working for the wrong side of the Town. Used correctly, this will be your greatest asset to your Mafia, especially combined with a Forger or Janitor and Disguiser. This section will be divided into a few sections due to the complexity of the role.

If you become the new Mafioso early on, rethink your role claim. You can't hope to be believed as an Escort if you can no longer roleblock. The same goes for other roles.

Last Will
Unlike an Investigator, it's not in your nature to share your investigations with the Town. Keep two separate wills. One for the public and one for yourself. I prefer to open a StickyNote tab outside game for my personal will and write any specific investigations in my Last Will.
- Format your will as if you were an Investigator. Investigator should always be your alibi unless there is proof that there is no Investigator available on the board.
Example of Last Will:

Example of Consigliere Will:

Avoiding Lookouts and Spies
These two roles will unwind your carefully constructed alibi with the Town. There's a few ways you can avoid being discovered.
- Build up a reputation. No one believes a silent Day 7-8 Investigator, you're a Consigliere or an inexperienced player. Both don't look good on your part. There's a priority system to your investigations. What would an Investigator do in your position? Should you find a Vig/Vet/Mafioso, consider waiting a night or two or reporting your findings as a "possible Mafioso". One known trait about Consiglieres is only revealing their role to find Neutral Evil and Neutral Killing roles. This will get you lynched or killed. Working with the Town may be necessary but do not doom your team. When it comes to Day 10 and you've found no Mafia personally and there's confirmed Town roles, your chances are slim.
- Reconstruct your will. This will be your #1 defense against a Spy. Without a Lookout to confirm your every nightly sightings, switching around your Consigliere Will is crucial. A Spy can make a claim that your will aligns with Mafia visits every night and accuse you of Consigliere. Be aware of who died when and who the Werewolf visited, this may reveal your ruse.
Example of Actual Consigliere Will:

Example of Reconstructed Will:

Night Cycle
Choose your targets carefully and be discreet about information. There are two methods you could (or rather, should) follow. Open Investigator or Silent Consigliere.
- (Recommended) Reveal as an Investigator and openly call out any suspicious roles after a few given days. It's possible for a Sheriff to call you as a "member of the mafia," but you can easily claim Framed and avoid these suspicions with suggesting a Vigilante or Veteran as the Mafioso. It's also possible to bring forward any of your teammates (given their consent) as Mafia should any town members already suspect them. This will further build your reputation. There are roles you should report and roles you shouldn't. Neutral Killings should always be reported and on specific days. Should it be the night before a full moon, I suggest not revealing the Werewolf unless there is a Mayor to get him hung immediately, or a Jailor to execute. You won't want to chance being his next target. If you plan to hang a Jester, make sure to suggest to the Mafia "I'm guessing _____ might be Jester due to their attitude" a couple nights before to ensure your teams survival. Finding a Witch is questionable. Should they find your Godfather, judge their intentions before revealing them. In many cases a Witch can be detrimental to your team, but should they be revealed they will most likely reveal your Mafioso or Godfather. You may want to suggest working with them, if you threaten them it's likely they will respond aggressively and turn your Mafioso or Godfather on you. Should you find a dangerous town role such as Mayor, Jailor or Bodyguard, alert your team immediately. Attempt this discreetly at first. Click a few times on your target and make a suggestion like "This guy needs to die!" without revealing there is a Consigliere. This could save you grief later from a Spy reveal. Do not risk the safety of your team to remain anonymous. Should you find the Jailor and the Godfather or Mafioso doesn't understand your message, reveal what you must to protect your team.
- (Mixed) Stay in the shadows and report your findings to your Godfather. If there is a Spy it will be obvious there is a Consigliere, you may even suggest your findings specifically for the Spy to alert the Town to them. Consider having the Godfather reveal there is a Consigliere in the Mafia Death Note and list the findings. Unless you have a large team to support you, this would not be the best strategy and you will most likely have to claim another role other than Investigator to cover up your tracks.

Coven Leader
Alignment: Coven Evil
Summary: A voodoo master who can control the actions of others.
Abilities: You may choose to control someone each night.
Attributes: Your victim will know they are being controlled. With the Necronomicon, your victim is dealt a Basic attack.
Goal: Kill all who would oppose the Coven.
Sheriff: Your target is a member of the Coven!
Offense: None (Basic with Necronomicon)
Defense: None

3 nights until the Coven has the Necronomicon.

You may be wondering what this message means. The Necronomicon allows the Coven Leader to not only control their targets, but deal a Basic attack to the 1st target they control.

POSSIBLE BUG
  • The Coven Leader is shown to visit both targets they choose.

Basics
  • You are immune to Roleblock.
  • Following the Necronomicon, you are given the ability to drain (Basic attack) a target.
  • Controlling a Pirate does not make them Duel the target you selected.

Jailor
  • Especially effective in VIP Mode (refer to that area of the guide), you have the ability to control the Jailor and force them to execute their target. Use this to your advantage. This could give your team a quick win in VIP Mode should you be aware of the roles around you.

Veteran
  • If you visit a Veteran on alert, you will be shot and the Veteran will be drained. Both of you will die.
Vampire
Vampire is an easily overlooked role. Given the alternatives (Mafia/Neutral Killings), a Vampire is relatively harmless (to the Town) and easy to lose as. You'll have to choose your targets wisely.
- Stay in the Shadows. You aren't trying to win a popularity contest. If the Investigator wants to speak up and get himself killed that's his business, he has a team to work with. Vampires are few and far between. It's in your best interests to stay quiet and alert for the first 3-4 nights.

Reporting Leads
You aren't going to win as a Vampire just by watching unless you work with the Town/Neutrals. The Town are your enemies by Goal alone. The Mafia/Neutral Killings are a common enemy, it's in your best interests to work with the Town first and everyone else second.
- When it comes to role claims, your first thought is probably Doctor. Unless a Vampire is dead in the Graveyard or you are investigated, avoid this at all costs. You might be accused of Serial Killer and lynched for other reasons, but a Doctor can't accuse a Mafia member without leads.
- With that said, Sheriff is an easy claim. You'll wanna tread carefully. Read the Immune Role List below for more details. You may accuse someone immune of being Mafia and lynch them to reveal a Serial Killer (and have some explaining to do).
- Claim any role you find necessary to survive. If you were an Investigator before being bitten, fake your will around some roles in the Graveyard and what information you currently have.

Avoiding Being Lynched
One of the biggest things of being a Vampire is being unable to perform your previous Town role.
- If you're already "confirmed" as a Town role (and now a Vampire) it's likely you have some level of trust with the Town. Should you no longer be able to perform your role's duty (Escort/Transport/etc), you may be accused of being a Vampire.

Avoid Vampire Hunters
Watch what you say in the night chat, Vampire Hunters can read it the same way a Spy would read Mafia chat. Do not use names or any other means of communicating. I suggest voting a target and making discreet comments like "he should be bitten" to get your message across to the others voting. Do not reveal your past role to the other Vampires. The VH will hear and be on the lookout during the day.
- If someone is Immune to bite a message will appear.
- A message appears revealing who your team visited. Should the youngest be roleblocked/witched, it may not be who you targeted or anyone at all.

Who To Bite
- Avoid "confirmed" town roles and the Mayor after they recently reveal. It is likely a Doctor/Bodyguard is protecting them. A bitten Mayor will only have 1 vote.

Bite Immune Roles
Since this is not always common knowledge:
- Night Immune Roles (Werewolf, Serial Killer, Arsonist, Executioner, Godfather)
- Witch
- Doctor's Target (They will be healed)
- Jailed Target
- Vampire Hunter (You will be staked unless healed/protected)
- Veteran on Alert
Survivor is not bite immune. You can bite through a Survivor/Bodyguard's vest.
You can bite a Vigilante before they die of guilt to save them.
Pirate
Alignment: Neutral Chaos
Summary: You are a swashbuckler with an obsession of gold.
Abilities: Choose a player to plunder each night.
Attributes: When you plunder a player you will duel the player for their valuables. If the player defends against your attack, you get no loot.
Goal: Successfully plunder two players.
Offense: Basic
Defense: None
Sheriff: Your target is not suspicious.

This role is similar to Vampires in the regard to being able to win with the Town or other Neutrals, given the situation. Pirates act like an Executioner in the regard of being able to win with anyone, should their two "plunders" be fulfilled.

Basics
  • You are given a sun icon similar to a Jailor or Mayor. Click this during the Day Cycle to choose a target to Duel.
  • During the Night Cycle you will be given 3 options of attack. Choose wisely. You have a 1/3 chance of winning the Duel. Should you choose the attack corresponding to your target's defense, you will win.
  • When you win a duel, your target will die and be revealed to the Town. Your win conditions state that you must "successfully plunder two players" in order to win.
  • If your target is jailed you will be notified and the duel cancelled.
Avoid Veterans
  • If you visit a Veteran at night, they will be alerted and given 3 choices in a basic duel. Regardless what they choose, should they choose to go on alert, you will be killed. Avoid Veterans at all costs.
  • Even if you realize that you have chosen a Veteran for your target, if it is already the Night Cycle you cannot go back on your duel and are left at the Veteran's mercy.
VIP Mode
  • Refer to VIP Mode section.
  • Should you choose to duel someone that is jailed, you will be notified and the duel cancelled. It is likely that the jailor will jail the VIP, giving you a better chance of guessing who should you have to.
Executioner
Become Your Ruse
- Avoid Day 2 Investigations. Day 2 Executioners are a common trend and the least likely to get their lynch unless you approach it a specific way in the All Any game mode.
- Have a will and claim. Whatever role you claim, if you don't sound convincing to yourself no one else is going to believe you.
- Be aggressive when trying to lynch your target. If you subtlely throw out "____ is evil," you will be assumed Executioner or ignored. Be heard and concise with your accusation.
- (Recommended) Claim Sheriff or Investigator on the third Day (counting the opener as Day 1) with a solid claim. One of the best claims you can make is against an Arsonist. Arsonist is a threat to Town, Mafia and every other Neutral Killing, even Neutral Evil roles. Not many will think twice before hanging someone accused of "smelling of gas". Beware if you do this after Day 2, they will expect you to have a will from Night 1 showing a previous investigation. You can attempt this method Day 2 as well. You can also claim you found a Serial Killer or Werewolf as Sheriff, but this method only works if a Werewolf or Serial Killer reveals themself prior to your claim. You could also attempt a "leader among men" accusation, although the new Vampire Hunter role is an easy cop out for supporters to not lynch a "mayor who won't reveal".
- (Not Recommended) Claim you "found mafia". This strategy does not have a good chance of working unless you get the actual Mafia to vote on your side (and you wait a few days). A "Mafia claim" can be defended by "I was framed!" very easily. Executioner is not a very well liked role by Town and Mafia alike. It can become an immune vote for the Town should they not side with the Evil roles.
- (Mixed) Shout. I've seen this strategy work many times, but it can be very annoying and a 50-50 shot at winning. Aggressively go after your target whichever day you prefer and don't let up. The louder the better. The Town is usually the majority and vote like sheep. They'll follow the votes of the guy screaming leads aggressively should your claim sound half believable. I don't suggest this for Ranked.
- (Mixed) Claim Vigilante and your target is immune. Given there is almost always a Neutral Killing which is a threat to everyone, this may work. You will need to be able to explain why you were randomly shooting that specific person. Being revealed as a "random shooting vigilante" can be seen as aggressive to the Mafia and make you a target.
- (Mixed) Claim Lookout. This is an old strategy used frequently that may appear obvious to more experienced players. Wait a Day and claim your target visited the recently killed town member. Link a fake will suggesting the same and insist on lynching your target.
Arsonist
I like to call this role a "sleeper cell" and one of my favorites. The Arsonist is a dangerous threat, but not nearly as lethal as everyone likes to believe (on it's own). An Arsonist working alone will have to be very clever and play their cards right to achieve victory.

Dousing and Igniting
- Arsonist is like a math equation. Many players, when given double Arsonist, like to have one Douse & one Ignite the same night, mimicking a Mafia or Serial Killer attack. Arsonist is not meant to be a single killer. It is a unique role for the fact that it can douse multiple targets in a single night given multiple Arsonists. Let's crank numbers.
Example A:
Arsonist A Douses Night 1 + Arsonist B Ignites Night 1 = 1 Death every night
By night 3 you will have 3 kills
Example B:
Arsonist A Douses Night 1-3 + Arsonist B Douses Night 1-2 & Ignites N3 = Multiple deaths
By night 3 you will have 5 kills

- The goal of an Arsonist is to douse as many targets are possible before igniting. Igniting at the right time is very crucial to your survival. Given multiple Arsonists, it's likely you will douse one of your own team and it's important for them to be able to clean the gasoline off themself so as to not be ignited (thus making the Example A flawed). Remember though that you may need to ignite sooner rather than later if there is someone onto your trail.
- You may consider not revealing if you were doused by a fellow Arsonist. This will give a shout-out to your hidden teammate that you are cleaning the gasoline off of yourself. Especially if they recognize you being doused and surviving an Ignition. On the contrary, being doused is a defense mechanism. Consider late game waiting a night then claiming doused the next morning to throw off suspicions. Do not ignite until you are certain you will be the sole winner (so as not to out yourself).

Staying Under The Radar
- (Recommended) Claim Executioner early on. This will be luck of the draw, considering you may pick a Neutral or Mafia as your designated "Executioner Target". Depending the outcome, you could be believed as a Sheriff should you actually lynch a "suspected evil role". Should you play your cards right, you will assume the role of Executioner, lynch a towns member and be deemed unimportant for 4-5 Days. Town members do not waste time investigating Executioners who have won or bothering with them unless they decide to vote against the Town.
- (Not Recommended) Claim Transporter. This is a bad defense mechanism and should be avoided. Transporter is a provable role and hard to fake given there are two targets who would witness you visiting them. If backed into a corner, call your lyncher out as an Executioner and claim a role the Town will be wary of lynching, such as a Bodyguard. This is also a plus given a Bodyguard has a vest which can cover up any "immune" calls made against you.
- (Mixed) Claim Survivor. Let's be real, no one seems to like Survivors. The instant you claim Survivor, there is bound to be a handful of townies ready and willing to hang you the moment a Serial Killer, Werewolf or Arsonist is confirmed.

Be discreet and stay in the shadows. I suggest you douse the quiet townies or Mafia. Investigative town roles are usually targets that will be watched or killed swiftly. Quiet targets are less likely to reveal they were doused, allowing you a few days grace period before the Town is out for your blood.

Yeah, in those cases you just have to plead your case & offer to shoot any target the Mayor sees as suspicious to prove there's a Vigilante. Mayor games just pop up in Ranked/Practice when they know there's a Jailor to babysit them. Situations like that are exactly why they shouldn't reveal...

Oh yeah, i just got done with a Mayor game and told the mayor i was Vig(i actually was) and he lynched me cause the Sheriff said i was Maf, i had been framed. Keep in mind he revealed Day 1 and this is Day 2 all this is happening so yeah, Mayor games CAN be shit sometimes.

I try to avoid Mayor games, they can go horribly in the right or wrong direction considering your team/game mode. Those are good claims to make! Just be sure the Mayor dies before they realize there's been no Veteran shootings. The Town also has it out for the Medium 9/10 times, sad as it is, it's an easy claim. Thanks for reading!

Hmm...I like it, cant wait to see more tips and tricks of yours. Also, i find the "Mayor Game" easy to beat as if you are a mafioso or GF, i claim Vet, or if im a neutral killing/evil, i claim medium. The trick for me is to be one of the first to respond as the mayor will most likely believe whoecer responded first. But still i hate mayor games, dont get me wrong.

A comprehensive guide, which dispells many of the misconceptions people have about each role.
