Intro
Feel free to point out any errors or points of debate in this guide.

I'd like to start by saying that killing the demon (apparntly its called "Sir") is not really required or necessary, it will make exporing the level easier if you need to backtrack to find the key or look for armour pieces; but i have done this whilst just avoiding it without being hurt too bad several times. However this guide is how to kill it not how to run away so lets get started.

Weaponary
So you should choose a modus operandi for the beasts demise, these are my reccomendations:

Now when it comes to choosing a weapon several thing should be taken into consideration, the demon is very fast, it is very tall, it has long reach, several versatile and effective attacks and attacks you frequently, regularly and constantly.

PoleAxe

Now the polaxe is probably the safest weapon to fight the demon with, it has exceptional range and good damage.

Since the demon is a very offensive monster (one of the most in the game), the logical way to consider fighting it would be defensively and may lead to to consider using a sword and board approach, there is method in the Tactics section of this guide for using a weapon and shield but i find that the shield can be very easily attacked around by the demon. you might also think that a short range weapon would be a good way of avoidng his long range attacks by getting withing his range, i do not recomment this at all, his downwards slam attack is devastating and can cause you to die very quickly.

Now back the the polaxe, the range it gives you (IMO) replicates the defensive bonus of the shield. the PoleAxes attack range does allow you to fight the demon without him being able to reach you, if you keep stepping backwards and only attack when you have good range on him, you will be able to hit him and step backwards without him hitting you back. This is still difficult however and may require a little practice, all i can say his attack him when you feel safe, using the environment to your advantage.

The downwards swing(double click) is the most useful attack, the stab (Alt+LMB) is also useful but does little to no damage since the polaxe has no Thrust damage stat, it can still be used defensively though.

2H sword.

Now the 2H has somewhat of a reputation for being the best weapon in the game, i admit that i find myself using it quite a bit. It is considered as such because of its solid range, long blade, high damage, good balance (speed) and above average impact (knockback). All of these things make it a deadly weapon, now the long blade and impact wont help us to much, but the range, speed and damage will.

Now the 2H has less range than the PoleAxe, which means that attacking is slightly more risky but the extra damage and balance (attack speed) will help you a lot. As with the PoleAxe, i suggest using the downwards (double click) attack, the reason being that you will fairly often hit it in the head doing lots of damage. The right-left and left-right swings are pretty much uselss becuase you will frequently hit it in the arm of legs; doing much less than the torso/head.

The stab attack (Alt+LMB) is also useful if it hits, it is pretty fast and has also good range. The problem is actually connecting, this is maybe safer than the downwards much much harder to hit with.

Spear

My recomendation for the spear is conjecture, it seems logical to me that a long ranged weapon specialising in thrust damage and fast attacks would be effective. If i ever try this method i will rewrite the guide with any information i have gained.

Trust your insticts

This is a pretty lame thing to write in a guide, but if there is any other weapon you would like to try go for it, these are by no means the only ones that will be useful. I will say that i would use something with lots of reach and balance.

Something like the Voulge which is very fast, the 2H Axe which has high impact or the Polehammer which has equal range to the Poleaxe but just does crushing instead of slashing (he probably has higher crush defence than slash, but i have no proof of that).
Tactics
Fighting it mano a mano

So this is the combat tactic that the weapon section assumes you will be using, attacking the creature head on Never Works i promise. Instead constantly back away, but do not lower your weapon and run, if you do that, the extra time it takes to turn around and ready your weapon will most likely be enough for the creature to offload its devastating combo...

Hits you - Knocks you to the ground - Downwards swing - KO

I guarantee this is how you will be killed by it 90% of the time, if it knocks you to the ground i urge you to accept your fate immediately, you will probably be knocked out or killed(depending on whether you are wearing heavy armour or have high health. Now i do recommend heavy armour, because it is likely that you will get knocked out once or twice before you kill it (no shame in that) and you want to preserve that precious yellow portion of the HP bar.

When you step backwards as opposed to run; you will actually prevent it from hitting you as long as you don't trip or get stuck somewhere (classic). Now with that said your environment is your golden ticket to killing it, in two areas in particular there are several pillars, one near the closed double door surrounded in shadow, and the others in the storage area with the hole(i will get back to that).

These pillars will increase your ability to kill it by about 100% if you constantly walk backwards around and around the pillar, the Demons size means that it often gets stuck with its large shoulders;slowing it down. That small amount of slowdown in its speed is your que to smash it in the face with your Polexe and then keep backing off.

if you struggle to find any pillars or are having trouble navigating whilst the giant hellbeast is trying to smash you to tiny pieces, dont feel bad its a stressful situation. Other obastacles to be taken advantage of are dining tables and pews, objects like this can be fought around or over. The PoleAxe can horizontal swing over most tables, as can the 2H Sword.

You can also use expecially small obstacles to try and trip the demon, when this happens;don't hesitate, strike! If you can just get one free hit on its back or neck, it will save you a lot of grief kiting him. I recomend using open boxes or ladders, the Demons large hight and weight mean he is quite prone to tripping provided you use the correct objects.

The skeletons are very unreliable, he might go after them, but they generally run from it leaving you the demons target, they still have their uses though as a momentary distraction while you fight him. Just dont rely on them.

Now i have managed to kill Sir by just going at him with a 2H axe, i used a bench and table to fight around and just kept smashing him in the face; i very much do not reccomend doing this but im just saying that it does work. This might be a viable tactic for the naturally aggresive player, just keep backing around objects/obstacles and you might live?

Defeating it otherwise

I have been made aware of two other very cheap/cheesy ways of killing him, these tactics are from steam users on this forum:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/362490/discussions/0/496881136916793541/

Since (IMO) fighting the demon is more for fun, these methods are more for convienience...

Now i mentioned the hole earlier, and defeating the demon can be as easy as getting him to fall down it. A little anti-climactic i know, but if you move some of the boards, maybe use them to make a little catwalk that you can run across and lure it over, it can fall in pretty easy. The hole can be found in the large storage room i mentioned earlier.

Another cheesy tactic that i have not tried is to use a weapon and shield and lure it into one of the small rooms like the toilets, and just go ham. I have not tried this, apparently it works. The OP said that he will knock you about without being able to do any kind of reliable damage to you, but take that with a schnifter of salt.

Aside from all that the only advice i can give you is;

"Don't Panic"

Outro-Final thoughts
This is meant as a guide on how to kill the Demon 1 on 1, it is frustrating and hard, if you do manage to do it thanks to my guide let me know, if my suggestions lead to catastophic results; let me know and tell me your findings.

Aside from that this is the first guide i've ever written, a little critique in that regard would be appreciated, grammar, structure/formatting, language anything.

Good hunting everybody.

great advice! the two times ive gotten to sir, Ive actually beaten him! once in the toilets, it DOES work, then yes stabbing him with a spear while fighting around a table in one of the office type rooms.

The skeletons also met their end in the toilet during that same fight. that was the first time ive ever fought him!

4 skeletons and Sir, not a bad effort.

toilet + shield + a high damage sword = win. One of the skeletons carries a 4.5 slashb damage sword. Sir can not live for long with such damage

You'll find it at the end of the new level which you can access if you go from the portal room directly left (there's another passage besides the one into level 4 where the demon is), and past a lever-activated door, there's the new level, which is quite challenging, and the 'armour' is found right behind the boss.

@Loli™Ravioli I haven't played much of the latest updates so im not sure if i know what armour you're talking about. I don't remember there being any heavy armour at that point in the game which was anywhere near that effective. Regardless that is the best tactic for fighting him IMO.

I randomly ran into the beast a minute after I entered the level, it scared the hell out of me but I was wearing the 'Armour' which allowed me to truly tank it mano e mano, i just kept whacking at it with my 2H sword until it dropped dead, the 'armour' was so good that even though he got atleast a dozen (literally) slam attacks on me, i only lost about 15% stamina and no actual HP, so that's another easy tactic (the armour is great, the only things that can even deal stamina damage are the armor golems and the demon, and that's if you're TRYING to get hit.)

Luckily for me this dude can't open or smash down doors, he's chilling in some small room somewhere while I happily explore the level, lol.

I had just got to the floor and been ambushed by a skeleton while taking a picture for my friends. Right after i killed the skeleton the beat rushed me from the shadows and I screamed like a little girl as I got my ass kicked.:steamsalty:

Yea, that thing scared the shit outta me, so... i lured it into the pit of death and pushed it in, to me, that is still fighting.

Also, when you escape and attack use fookin' shift.
