Art name: Blade of Mercy

Description: One of Shaolin Temple's seventy-two great arts. Its moves are smooth and gentle, focusing on defense, and attacking foes' joints with the back of the blade mostly to subdue them rather than kill them-hence its name. Its moves are Moving Lecture, There's Always the Chance to Turn Back, and To Become a Buddha. The practitioner's Morality determines the power of the techniques.

Bonus: Morality 25%

Obtained through: Wujie/Xu Zhen

Notes: Learned after you help Xu Zhen defeat Wujie in a stroll event at the market. Prerequisites: Help Xu Zhen defeat Black Wind Fortress minions in a stroll event at the market, help Xu Zhen and Lu Shaolin defeat beggars in a stroll event at the market, and encounter Wujie in a stroll event in the forest.

Moving Lecture - The first form of Blade of Mercy. "Zhu Daosheng travels to Mount Huqiu, taking stones as his students. As he teaches of the Mahāyāna Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, the stones all nod their heads." Reciting the Mahāyāna Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, use precise footwork and the blade to repel the opponent's weapon, without making follow-up attacks.
There's Always the Chance to Turn Back - The second form of Blade of Mercy. "The sea of bitterness has no bounds, turn your head to see the shore." Kick the opponent's wrist and turn to slash around to disarm the surrounding enemies. This move may appear to be aggressive, but is in fact carefully controlled to only rid opponents of their weapons.
To Become a Buddha - The third form of Blade of Mercy. "A wrongdoer achieves salvation as soon as he gives up evil." Call out Buddhist teachings and become a whirling dervish of blade, using strong internal powers to protect allies and neutralize foes. The more powerful the attacks of opponents are, the more power the counter-force they experience.

is there any stat requirement in sword or blade to learn Restoration of Blade and Sword?
Happy Birthday! Aug 8, 2024 @ 9:49pm
To correct the notes for the special fighting Xiaoyao fighting styles like Shadowless Steps:

When you achieve level 20 in that skill, as long as November 1st Early has happened, stroll at Xiaoyao Valley (leftmost option) to meet with Master Zi and unlock the martial arts for usage and training.

Thank you for your guide. I just recently started playing this game, and your guides have been a big help, especially in learning short handle.
I have noticed a couple things that seem to be slightly different though: For the Xiaoyao Fan Techniques, it looks like my short handle skill needs to be 40, not 20. Any lower and I don't seem to trigger the event. Also, it looks like any point in November is fine, it doesn't need to be the beginning of the month.
I'm not sure why things seem different, is it different between different versions of the game?
Either way, though I am having small problems, your guide has still been HUGE help. So thank you!
Mew  [author] Aug 12, 2020 @ 4:00am
Correct. The English version is still stuck at 1.0.2.6, missing content from the major updates since that version.
Lovise Aug 12, 2020 @ 12:27am
Is dual wield not available for english version? My sword and blade move are at 70+. I encountered the stroll event where xiahou visit and then fighting Ji in xiao valley on 3rd year early may. I won against Ji, saved and reload to lose to him on purpose. Still didn't get the dual blade skill.
Ryn Mar 12, 2017 @ 9:24pm
ok thank you for information. I hope i'll encounter this event.
Ryn Mar 12, 2017 @ 9:20pm
actually i still playing 1.0.3.0 in chinese versions. :D
Mew  [author] Mar 12, 2017 @ 9:19pm
Make sure to NOT download the Chinese update if you only play the English version, because you would probably break your game.
Mew  [author] Mar 12, 2017 @ 9:17pm
That event came with update 1.0.2.7, which is ONLY available in the Chinese versions. The guide you linked to doesn't include the new content from 1.0.2.7 and afterwards. If you have the latest version of the game (Right click game->properties->betas->Select the beta you would like to opt into: beta - Chinese DLC test version->close->update) and play normally, you should encounter this event.
