This guide will improve both your Gameplay and GameStyle. Also I'll try to help those who try to play DMC with Controller. Find many thing around, but none was able to the problem (Probably not explained correctly or without details). So I try hard and find this workaround.

Note: I use PS3 Controller -> Emulated as XBOX 360 Controller.

I'm Apryed. I'm here to write down a solution to what most users got problems with.

DMC3SE PC VS CONTROLLER.

I've tried to update every single piece of data I've found to make it complete and useful for everyone. Also done my best for you all to understand it.

I'll just skip formalities, and go where you want to go... TO WORK!! Or make it work xDD

Setting up the Controller

We will need a few things:

Requirements on this part:

• Microsoft Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 x86 or amd64
  
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5[www.microsoft.com]
  
• Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package[www.microsoft.com]
  
• Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Runtime[www.microsoft.com]
  
• DirectX Runtime[www.microsoft.com]

Make sure you install 32 bits requirements on 32 bits OS and 32 and 64 requirements on 64 bits OS.

This driver MUST BE present at all times -> XBox Controllers (Wired or Wireless) - XBox Controller Driver[www.microsoft.com] : For Windows 7, Vista and XP (32 or 64 Bits).
Already integrated in Windows 8.x or greater.

Installation is easy. just run it, and go next.
Troubleshooting while installing? Just CLICK HERE[support.xbox.com].

PS3 - PS4 Controllers (Wired or Wireless) - ScpToolkit - Lastest Release[github.com] -Today: v1.6.238.16010.

Setup should look like this for a PS3 Controller without Bluetooth doungle:

If you want to, you can install Bluetooth driver. You will see your -1- led shining (or like charing, but only the first led, if all went correctly).

Alternatively, if it fails to install the drivers you have 2 options:

• Force installation, option inside the program.
  
• Disable Signed Driver Enforcement, and run setup again.

From now on, you XBOX controller and/or your PS3/4 controller will work on your computer. ;)

Setting Up Controller Buttons - Windows Side - Skip, if you want to install Style Switcher

First of all...
If you are not going to use Style Switcher, keep reading, otherwise, Skip to next section.


Go to DMC3SE Root:
Edit file "DMC3SE.ini", and insert one or more of this controllers setups[pcgamingwiki.com].

You will need some sort of key mapping.

I'll use xPadder[www.xpadder.com], just because it's easy and do the job. It's not a freeware, but you will be able to find it ;).

Simply:

• Open Xpadder with or without your controlled plug-in.
  
• Plug it in if you got it disconnected.
  
• 
  Create your own profile (or Download mine and load "Control - PS3.xpaddercontroller"- Black Square - Only PS3 Controller[mega.nz]).
  Should look like this:
  
• After that, we will just set the original DMC 3 Keyboard Keys (or load "DMC3SE.xpadderprofile" . Red Square).
  It would look like this:

Tweaking DMC3SE

Style Switcher[www.nexusmods.com], this mod let you switch between styles fast, plus some other good things such as: Graphic Enhancements and Gamepad Fixes (tested with a Xbox 360 Controller) among others.

Install instructions:

• Download and install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 x86[www.microsoft.com] and DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)[www.microsoft.com].
  
• Download and Start xdelta UI[www.romhacking.net]. Click on "Open" right next to "Patch", navigate to the folder where you extracted the contents of the archive to and select "snd.xdelta".
  
• Now click on "Open" next to "Source File" and navigate to the data folder inside your Devil May Cry 3 root directory, by default this will be "...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Devil May Cry 3\data". Select "GData.pak".
  
• For the last parameter click on "..." next to "Output File", navigate to your Devil May Cry 3 root directory ("...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Devil May Cry 3") and save the file as "GData.afs".
  
• Click on "Patch".
  
• Copy "dsound.dll" and "StyleSwitcher.ini" to your Devil May Cry 3 root directory ("...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Devil May Cry 3").

After that, you should edit your "StyleSwitcher.ini" and make some configurations:
BINDINGS:
Exchange KEY_CHANGE_SWORD and KEY_CHANGE_GUN values:
KEY_CHANGE_SWORD = 0x45
KEY_CHANGE_GUN = 0x51

The last 3 objects are F1, F2, F3.
F1 - Toggle Hud (Enable - Disable)
F2 - God Mode?
F3 - 1 Hit Kill?
Haven't tested it yet. Sorry.

DEBUG:
SkipIntro -> Set to 1.
DisableBGMEngine -> Set to 0.
DisableShadowEngine -> Set to 1, only you got low FPS.
SkipCutscene -> 0. Or set it to 1 for Speedrun.
DoNotHideHUD -> 1.

DISPLAY:
Width -> Set your windows resolution width.
Height -> Set your windows resolution height.
FOV -> Set between 0.45 and 0.65. Original: 0.5
Fullscreen <- Set to 1 for Fullscreen.

GAME:
HideCursor <-- Set to 1 to hide cursor.
Still testing what other's REALLY DO.

JOYPAD - Set it my own way, as windows recognize like this and not like I saw in many places.

Note: Joypad section could be erased.

Save and you are free to go.

Setting Up Controller Buttons - Game Side

Now that we got it all complete, we will start DMC3SE.

Go to Options -> Gamepad. Set all keys as DEFAULT. Do the same on Keyboard.

For a more accurate gameplay do as Follow:

Item Screen - D-pad Up
Map Screen - D-pad Down
Equip Screen - D-pad Right
File Screen - D-pad Left

Now, you have fully Gamepad functions.

DMC3SE PC VS MANDO.

He intentado actualizar cada parte de información que he encontrado, para hacer de esta guía, una completa y útil para todos. Además, he hecho mi mejor esfuerzo para que todos lo puedan entender.

Me voy a saltar las formalidades y voy a ir a donde os interesa... A TRABAJAR!! O hacer que trabaje xDD

Configurando los controles

Vamos a necesitar un par de cosas:

Requisitos en esta parte:

• Microsoft Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 x86 o amd64

Aseguraros de que instalais los requisitos 32 bits en un SO 32 bits y que instalais los requisitos de 32 y 64 bits en un SO de 64 bits...

Este driver DEBE ESTAR presente todo el rato -> Controlles de XBox (Cableado o Inalámbrico) - Driver de Mando XBox[www.microsoft.com] : Para Windows 7, Vista and XP (32 o 64 Bits).
Ya viene integrado en Windows 8 o superior.

La instalación es sencilla. Se ejecuta y siguiente hasta el final.

Mandos PS3 - PS4 (Wired or Wireless) - ScpToolkit - Última versión[github.com] - Hoy: v1.6.238.16010.

La instalación deberia verse así, para un mando PS3 conectado por cable:

Si quieres, puedes instalar los drivers de Bluetooth, pero no se recomienda. Veras la luz del mando -1- brillar (o como si cargara, pero solo la primera, si ha ido todo correcto).

Como alternativa, si falla al instalar los drivers, tenemos 2 opciones:

• Force installation - Forzar la instalación.
  
• Deshabilitar el uso obligatorio de controladores firmados, e intentar instalar otra vez.

Desde ahora, tu mando de XBOX controller y/o tu mando PS3/4 debería funcionar en tu pc. ;)

Configurando los botones del Control - Windows - Saltar este paso, si se instalara Style Switcher.

Primero que nada...
Si NO vas a instalar Style Switcher, sigue leyendo, sino, salta a la siguiente sección.

Ir a la raiz del DMC3SE:
Editar el archivo "DMC3SE.ini", e insertar uno o más de estas configuraciones de mando[pcgamingwiki.com].

Necesitaremos algún mapeador de teclas.

Yo usaré xPadder[www.xpadder.com], porque es fácil y hace el trabajo. No es software libre, pero seréis capaces de encontrarlo ;).

Simple:

• Abrir Xpadder con o sin el mando conectado (realmente da igual).
  
• Conectarlo si lo tienes desconectado.
  
• 
  Crea tu propio perfil de mando (o baja y carga el mío "Control - PS3.xpaddercontroller" - Recuadro Negro - Solo Mando de PS3[mega.nz]).
  Debería verse así:
  
• Después de eso, solamente pondremos las teclas del teclado que vienen por defecto en DMC3SE (o Cargar "DMC3SE.xpadderprofile, recuadro Rojo).
  Se verá así cuando acabéis:

Modificando DMC3SE

Style Switcher[www.nexusmods.com], este mod permite cambiar de estilo muy rápidamente, además de otras cosas como: Mejora de gráficos y arreglos para el mando (Probado con mando de Xbox 360) entre otras cosas <-- Pero aun así, problemas con los gatillos, que con esta guía, no tendrás.

Instrucciones de instalación:

• Descargar e instalar Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 x86[www.microsoft.com] y DirectX End-User Runtimes (Junio 2010)[www.microsoft.com].
  
• Descargar e iniciar xdelta UI[www.romhacking.net]. Click en "Open" al lado de "Patch", ir a la carpeta del Style Switcher y seleccionar "snd.xdelta".
  
• Ahora click en "Open" al lado de "Source File" e ir a la carpeta data dentro de donde esté descargado el DMC3SE - "...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Devil May Cry 3\data". Y seleccionar "GData.pak".
  
• Para el último parámetro click en "..." junto a "Output File", ir a la carpeta donde esté descargado el DMC3SE - "...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Devil May Cry 3". Y guardar el archivo como "GData.afs".
  
• Click en "Patch".
  
• Copiar "dsound.dll" y "StyleSwitcher.ini" en "...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Devil May Cry 3"

Después de eso, deberías editar el archivo "StyleSwitcher.ini" y hacer algunas configuraciones:
BINDINGS:
Intercambia los valores KEY_CHANGE_SWORD and KEY_CHANGE_GUN :
KEY_CHANGE_SWORD = 0x45
KEY_CHANGE_GUN = 0x51

Los últimos 3 objetos son F1, F2, F3.
F1 - Muestra u Oculta el Hud.
F2 - Modo Dios?
F3 - 1 Hit Kill?
Aún no los he probado, lo siento.

DEBUG:
SkipIntro -> Poner valor 1.
DisableBGMEngine -> Poner valor 0.
DisableShadowEngine -> Poner valor 1, solo si tienes bajos FPS.
SkipCutscene -> Poner valor 0 o poner valor 1 para Speedrun.
DoNotHideHUD -> Poner valor 1.

DISPLAY:
Width -> Poner valor del ancho de la resolución de windows.
Height -> Poner valor del alto de la resolución de windows.
FOV > Poner valor entre 0.45 y 0.65. Default: 0.5.
Fullscreen <- Poner valor 1 para Pantalla Completa.

GAME:
HideCursor <-- Poner valor 1 para ocultar el cursor.
Aun probando que hacen realmente los demás.

JOYPAD - Los he puesto a mi manera, porque windows así lo reconoce y no como he visto en otro sitios.

Nota: La sección Joypad puede ser borrada.

Guardar y estaréis listo para ir.

Configurando los botones del Control - Juego

Ahora que tenemos todo completo, iniciaremos el DMC3SE.

Iremos a Opciones -> Gamepad. Pondremos todo en DEFAULT. Hacer el mismo en las opciones de Teclado.

Para una jugabilidad más certera en réplica al original, modificar los siguientes valores:

Objetos - D-pad Up
Mapa - D-pad Down
Equipo - D-pad Right
Archivos - D-pad Left

Ahora, tendrás el mando que uséis 100% operativo :D.

@Abraham1993 : En su momento lo hice y funcionó. Tiempo después volví a probarlo y volvío a funcionar. A día de hoy no sé si seguira siendo valido ( Teniendo la opción de Conectar el mando de PS con Steam - Aunque hace tiempo que no pongo un mando de PS3 en mi pc, para saber si Steam les puso soporte ). Lo más probable es que tuvieras o tuvieses algo mal en el PC o no seguiste bien los pasos.

@krvv : Esto es para DMC 3 : SE, no para el DMC HD Collection > DMC3:SE - Funcionan de manera diferente. Por no decir que no tiene nada de relevancia con la guía en cuestión.
