Spotting Bots

Since this guide was made there has been an update, bots are now removed from the in game server browser.
To see the true number of real players, run DOD by double clicking its name in your library and click Find Servers.

With servers using fake names and pings its often hard to see if the server is full of people or bots, this guide will show you how to spot bots before you join and while your in game.

Checking in the game browser.

Open up the server browser and refresh.

Right click on a server and then select View server info.



In the new window click sort by time.

All the bots will have the same play time, in below picture its 883h 8m 6s

Open up console by pressing tilde key.

Type status and press enter

A list of names will be shown, the bots will have BOT instead of a steam ID

I usually look at the ping of a player to decide. It will usually say 0 if its a bot.

Bots dont have a steam ID instead it just says BOT, this is how you tell which are real people.

Avamods is full of bots. They even have prerecorded messages in chat. If you play long enough you'll notice some messages are repeated.

Sir, Vapenation, you can add bots if you run or rent a server. It's really not that hard. It only takes a desire to do so and to learn what you must. Check YouTube and online on how. My brother and I ran a server with another download server (so those that needed to download maps, etc, wouldn't lag the game - I don't know if that is still needed now). We found as many maps as we could, converted maps to our mod and had fair play - no cheating (and no really bad language because of young people playing). We had the #1 server. If we could do it, you can do it. :)
