Highway Fighter/Highway Hunter - Custom Steam Installation

In this Guide, I will show you how to install Highway Fighter/Highway Hunter in the same folder as Stargunner on Steam.

1. Highway Fighter/Highway Hunter - Cutsom Installation

This Section will teach you on how to install Highway Fighter/Highway Hunter in your Stargunner Folder.

1. Visit myabandonware & search for Highway Fighter/Highway Hunter. The file names are highway-hunter & highway-fighter.

2. Download Highway Hunter & Highway Fighter.

3. Go to the folder where Stargunner is installed on Steam, and create 2 new folders called HFight & HHunter.

4. Extract the highway-hunter Files to your HHunter Folder & Extract the highway-fighter Files to your HFight folder.

5. Open your Stargun DOSBOX Config File & Change the Following:

6. Open DosBox and enter the following:

7. Enter HW123 or START to start playing.

8. If you want to switch back to Stargunner, change the Following in your STARGUN DosBox Config File:

2. Story - Terraformation Crisis Core

The Axis of Allied Planets has taken control of the Planet Earth and enslaved the human race to do their bidding by installing Terraforming Generators that are causing the Earth to be adjusted in their image but slowly killing life on Earth. Mankind is sent to Prisons & are forced to work as slaves.

You are Prisoner 16247 & are working on a Prototype Alien alien combat vehicle called the "Multi Attack Super Turbo Engery Ranger" or MASTER for short. But you had enough of being a Prison inmate so its time for a Revolution & Jailbreaking against the law. You hijack the MASTER, breakout of the Prison by Destroying the Prison Gates & enbark your mission to Destroy the Terraforming Generators, along with the Axis of Allied Planets so you can save both the Earth & the Human Race.

3. The MASTER

MASTER: Multi-Attack Super Turbo Energy Ranger

The MASTER is a prototype vehicle that you stole from the Axis of Allied Planets while working in their Prison garage when they captured you. This highly sofisticated driving machine can get some pretty cool weapons like a rocket launcher an Ion beam annd so on. Also it's defence will be better when you apply the front shield or the circling one.

= Power Ups
Highway Hunter has 4 Power ups.
All power ups are in metal floating rounds with a letter in it except the shields.
These power ups only last for a limited time. Use wisely.

U: Upgrade weapon for maximum fire power
O: Temporary invincibility
C: Take power from all enemies
Red MASTER: Restores 3 Energy on Easy/Normal, Extra Life on Hard


= Shields
Front: Can hold enemy fire that is fired in front of you, it will also destroy enemies hit with it.

Side: Protects you from the edges of the road.

Ring: This shield will fly in front of you but it will remain on the same place when you drive a bit back.

Cyclone: It floats around the MASTER and will stop incoming fire when it hits it. Like the front shield it also destroys enemy vehicles and planes when hit.

Diamond: This shield goes from left to right in front of your ship.

4. Cheat Codes

Start the game with start.exe
Command line paramaters for START.EXE: (parameter here)
FFL# = Replace # with level number
SKIP = Skip intro
BEER = Unlimited Energy/Lives
FREE = Unlimited Weapons


Quick Boss Kill:
In The Shareware Episode: "Evil Drivers", level 1, instead of blazing your guns and losing almost all your weapon upgrades, use the front shield that you pick up just before the boss and ram it. It will die instantly.

6. Hints and Tips

= Highway Hunter
When playing on Hard Mode, try to avoid getting hit since you have a Life Count on this difficulty setting, as doing so will cause you to lose all your Weapons & destroy your current MASTER in use.

As soon as you see a Red MASTER on the Road, collect it as soon as you can, as it will give you 3 Energy Cells on Normal & Easy/an Extra Life on Hard.

On Easy Mode, the Edges of the Road won't hurt you, but on Normal & Hard, the Edges of the Road WILL hurt you.

On Easy & Normal Mode, you have an Energy Cell Counter. but on Hard Mode, you start with more Weapon Energy but have a Lives Counter instead & a single hit will not only kill you, but you'll also lose all your weapon upgrades.

If you don't have your Weapons Upgraded, the Boss Fights will take a long time to beat. Collect the Weapon Upgrades as soon as you see them.
