This is a story-driven puzzle platformer about decisions and their consequences. A desperate mime is trying to recollect an important memory as he travels through a psychedelic world full of puzzles which he needs to solve with the use of pantomime.

Tell me more about the game
Other Inside is a game about a mime. It’s a game about his life choices and their consequences, a story about remembering the most important moments in life. The player has the opportunity to make the mime’s decisions which affects his personality, as well as past and future events. All of this happens in a distorted world created from the mime’s very own memories. A menacing shadow of the past and the burden of regrets and irreversible decisions run through the whole game.

The game is a journey of self-discovery, during which our mime encounters many obstacles – logic puzzles – which he must overcome with the help of pantomime. For this purpose, he can use objects that do not actually exist. He can also create imaginary walls and manipulate with distant objects using a pantomimic lasso.

As a mime, you wake up in your room. But something is not right here. The mime is missing something, a very important memory. In an attempt to get it back, he has to relive the most important parts of his life and discover what kind of person he really is. The whole story revolves around topics like family, friendship, life, and death.

The game takes place in a distorted world created from the mime’s very own memories. Through the game you are able to make your own decisions which will affect personality of our mime and the story itself. It is only up to you how the game ends.

The main protagonist of the game is a mime. He is just an average Joe who is living his not so interesting life.

But what kind of a person our mime really is, that is entirely up to you. You are making the decisions which are affecting his life and character.

Will you help a person in need? The mime will remember your choice and he will act accordingly in the future. But be cautious. If you are not careful enough, your decisions can have really unpleasant consequences.

Our mime is also very skilled in his pantomimic art and he will find himself in situations in which his pantomime is no longer just an illusion. He can use imaginary objects to his advantage to overcome various obstacles in his path.

The main abilities of the mime are:
  • Travelling between the normal and pantomimic world
  • Creating pantomimic walls
  • Using the pantomimic lasso
  • and many, many more... but we have to keep some secrets ;-)

Why a mime?
There are three reasons for choosing a mime as our main protagonist. The first reason is mimes have a great ability to play with human emotions. They can make you smile as well as scare you. The second reason is we are fascinated by the fact that some people are scared by something like a mime or a clown, and we think it is interesting to control the object of your fear. But the main reason why we decided to make a game about a mime is the idea of what could happen if the mime’s skills were so strong he could materialize everything he needs. This creates almost endless possibilities for the game design.

Will the game have achievements and trading card support?
Of course. Our game has been developed with this in mind from the very beginning.

Which platforms will the game be available on?
The initial release aims for PC. After that, we would like to focus on Linux and Mac. Then in the third phase we would like to expand to game consoles.

Who stands behind Other Inside?
We are Jiří Gerat and David Konečný, both from the town of Olomouc, Czech Republic. Together we form Vicious Mime, a small independent game studio formed by two long-time friends who develop games in their spare time. David is a professional programmer who has been devoted to games since his childhood and had already successfully completed several freeware projects. Jiří is a talented graphic artist, he is working as a designer in the city of Brno, Czech Republic. In our games we want to emphasize the freedom of player’s choices, powerful story and atmosphere. We like to surprise our players with complex consequences of their own decisions. Development of interesting games is our life goal and a long-term dream.
But we do not face this task alone. A couple of very talented external colleagues help us with this. They take care of music composition, illustrations drawing or making promotional campaigns.

Isn’t it too early for Greenlight?
Even though Other Inside's release date is set to the end of next year there is a good reason why we are on Greenlight now. The game is in a phase of development in which some major changes are still possible. And we want to involve game community in the development process now. That is why we are preparing closed alpha/beta version of the game (you can register here[]), which we would like to distribute through Steam soon after we are greenlit (if that will be the case). Also we are eager to hear any feedback from you.
This may sound little bit like an early-access for some of you, but there are differences. We want to maintain relatively small group of testers and we want to have some information about every each one of them (like game preferences, favorite controllers and so on). Also this development version will be free and it will be available only for some amount of time.
