So you Died... Roll it Back!

Start Backing up and Loading Previous Save Games.

How to Backup your Save Games and Continue With That Back-Up

Dark Souls PtDE Save Location:
C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\NBGI\DarkSouls\
The Save file should be the only thing in that folder.
For Example: "C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\NBGI\DarkSouls\DRAKS0001.sl2"

Backup the Save Game by the practice of Copy/Pasta to another folder or to the desktop.

One Thing to Note! To do this properly, You Must be OUT OF COMBAT!.
For example. You're about to enter the Boss's Lair and you're Out of Combat OR No Enemies are Agro'ed. Alt-Tab out of the Game and Copy the Save Game from "\NBGI\DarkSouls\..." and Continue with the game. If and When you die. Quit to the Main Menu -> Alt-Tab out of the game and Paste your Backup save into the Folder "\NBGI\DarkSouls\". Alt-Tab Back into Dark Souls and Load up the Save you just Replaced. All your Souls and Humanity will be smiling right back at yea!

im not knocking your advice. in fact, it would be very helpful to new players or people with slower computers. I just don't enjoy it because it takes a bit from the spirit of the game, where you have to accept that however many souls you have, you run the risk of loosing them all at any given time. no second chances with them.
