Warrior
Jock dwarf, max out lunge first, putting one point in Riposte early on. Then put remaining points into riposte. Red Icosahedron and either spiked rings for a little more damage or Almighty Rings for a little more threat and more reliable Ripostes.
Barbarian
Surfer dwarf as the Chill passive will help a lot in many situations. Max out frenzied strike, pot a point into Rampage and the rest into Anger Management. Red Icosahedron, spiked rings for trinkets.
Mage
Lab Rat human/elf using full crystal balls and a magic staff for the extra spell damage. Max out Chain Lightning and put the rest into Frostbite, though you probably won't max it with a full group because of how scaling XP works. Frostbite will provide you some decent single target support, not that the warrior/barbarian will need it.
Hunter
Rich kid elf. Max out Hail of Arrows then Ambush. All you care about is initiative so just equip moccasins/Green Icosahedron as nothing effects Hail damage.
Cleric
Doesn't matter. Get Radiance maxed, Restoration will be your main heal and you'll want a few points in purge to save you from confused debuffs. The only trinket they need is Enchanted Cushion for the stun immunity.
Final Say
The party works by using the warrior and barbarian to soak up most of the damage while single targeting major threats while the Mage and Hunter take out the big groups. The cleric keeps the group alive and spamming their mana intensive abilities.

If you have the room upgrade that allows things that target surrounding monsters target all instead, use the ninja. Boost initiative on it, then smoke bomb ftw.

Is it possible to beat the game with two characters? yes. With monk Jock, and Lab Rat mage

I like the Goth/elf/ninja because it has free revives and i always have trouble with running out of money

While isn’t a good final boss battle team, it is a good team for any other NPC teams go though and here’s why. The final bosses AoE damage. If you played his level you for sure that his tornado does insane damage, and even with the most deducted armor possible, it can still do 600-1000 (numbers vary) and it’s crit is the lowest of 1500! Now, the “best setup” possible for a good game and a great boss battle is the Paladin, Cleric, Mage, Ninja, and Warrior (this in perspective of free to play, I also have issues using the Barbarian so I don’t personally like it due to the rage effect).

For a first run through, i find starting with jock dwarf warrior and lab rat human mage, followed by a cheerldr elf thief, rocker dwarf pally, and a hipster human clr a nice starting point.

I've tried a few games and I always start with Jock/Warrior/Dwarf and Lab Rat/Elf/Mage. Then made Rocker/Dwarf/Cleric, Goth,Elf,Thief, Rich Kid/Elf/Ninja. definity could be more optimized, but using Ninja to Sudden Death a lot of enemies works well for me.

Druid, Mage, Ninja, Paladin, and Cleric. Druid works on vines and animal companion so that they can potentially stun lock everything in the fight. Mage does fireball to light most things on fire. Paladin with smite to weaken everything...and the Ninja uses Jock with 3 weapons inflicting confusion, poison, and rage, with his inherent bleed effect and most points put into vanish for the super high crit chance. 1 point in shadow chain for the triple attack. No need to inflict major damage if you're just instant death slaying everything.
