Achievement Guide

This is my very first guide (I apologize for every mistake, language-related or not), made just to help everyone who wants to 100% complete this game, without looking everywhere on the internet. If it has been of any help, please give it a like or leave a comment and if you want to edit or add something to this guide just ask it in the comments below.

Oukoku - before leaving (1/2)

SCROLLIN' ON DA RIVER
This should be your first achievement, all you have to do is talk to your father at your house, where you'll start at the beginning of the game, get the mission of going to read 3 scrolls in the library, which is north to your house and browse every scroll to the end before closing them.

NEW GROUND
Every once in a while you'll encounter a warship floating around the world map, an easter egg of Newgrounds. It's a very uncommon event so if you see one of them, immediately enter it and you'll unlock this achievement. You can also trigger this event by pressing 'D' anywhere you want. Once in the warship you'll be able to change your armor and sword aspect among your previous upgrades, you just have to hit the lever while you're in one of the changing machineries.

GLITCHY GO-GETTER
You won't unlock this achievement but near end-game, but like few others you might miss something if you don't farm it since the beginning of the game. To unlock this achievement you have to talk to each one of the 5 brothers of Glitch:

• Glitch - He's located in the blacksmith's house, to the east of your house
  
• Hack - He's found in a secret location to the very south of the map, in the desert. You can easily detect this spot because of a darker area. He will also unlock you the achievement "Kamahameha!"
  
• Bug - To be able to talk to him you first have to return the missing son to the lady in the house to the east of the village, then you can go pass her and speak with him. He will also unlock you the achievement "Spinny Wrists"
  
• Flaw - You'll meet him only long after you have made the choice of going to the Yajuu mountains or to the Mahou island and you will be able to talk to him regardless of your choice. If you choose to become a tamer you first need to prepare the soup for the sick girl in the south-west house and then you need to get past the safe, you will find him trapped inside it. If you choose the sorcerer path you'll need to get past the troll bridge, cast the lightning on the rock on top of the koi pond and then, once the waters have been drained you can explore further into the next and secret island where you'll find him. He will also unlock you the achievement "Upward Thrust"
  
• Cavaliere-di-pala - This is the last and unmissable Glitch's brother, you will find him near the end of the game. He will also unlock you the achievement "Shovel Sharpshooter".

KAMEHAMEHA!
You'll unlock this achievement by talking to Hack, one of the Glitch's brothers.

EXPLORER
Even though this should be one of the last achievement you might want to unlock, you'll have to start farming it from the very beginning of the game. To unlock it you have to collect all the secret XP bags located throughout the entire game. Remember: since in this game you'll have to make a choice that will let you play only half of the game and there's no turning back, you only need to get half of the totality of XP bags but with the same character. If you want to know the exact location of all the XP bags of the Yajuu Mountains path here's a guide made by Spookey, all credits goes to him.

CONVALESCENT CONVERSATIONALIST
To unlock this achievement simply enter the mansion on the left up corner of the map and, once in, talk to the old man on the far right, there is also a XP bag hidden between the rafters.

MY STASH!
While trying to get "Explorer" you might end up talking to him, he's one of the many easter eggs in the game. His location is in the right up corner of the map, where the mountains meet the coast, with a XP bag too, all you gotta do is to talk to him.

STINGS AND STONES
This achievement will unlock once you'll beat the 5 red stings boss fight, you can fight them by entering into their nest south to the blacksmith's house.

GLOW STICKER
To unlock this achievement you first have to talk to the scared boy in the house located to the north from the library. Then you'll have to collect at least 10 glow flies, you can encounter some of them, randomly, at the beginning of a battle had in the forest. Remember: you'll need 3 more near the end-game, so remember to farm at least 3 glow flies extra or you won't be able to achieve "Explorer" and "Forethought". After you collected them all you have to give them to the scared kid and he will also give us a XP bag.

MƯNCHER PLAGUE ELIMINATOR
Like "Glow Sticker", during forest-themed battles you can randomly encounter a purple XP-draining creature called Mưncher. Once you have knocked out one of them you can collect it and bring it to the forest altar, located in the middle of it. Once you've sacrificed 3 Mưnchers Ki, the forest spirit will appear and also give you a XP bag.

ROY ORB-ISON
The first thing you gotta do is to talk to the mysterious figure at the end of the library corridor, he will give you the mission of returning all the 3 manna orbs to the well. Their locations are:

• The first one is in the barn (you need to have talked to Glitch for his special ability) located in the centre of the village. Once you entered you have to jump on the cow, then once you're on the rafters you gotta dash left, by double clicking the left arrow, and catch the orb
  
• The second one can be obtained after the Jelly boss fight, which is located via the jelly mountains, to the north-east corner of the map
  
• The last one is obtainable only after the Sand worm boss fight, to the sand pit, in the middle of the desert

Once you've obtained them all Kitsune, the well sprite will appear and also give you a XP bag.

BEEF BASHER
You can unlock this achievement by attacking the cow in the barn, located in the centre of the village.

JELLY MUCH?
To unlock this achievement you'll have to defeat the Jelly boss fight.

Oukoku - before leaving (2/2)

SPICE IS LIFE
To unlock this achievement you have to defeat the Sand Worm boss fight, located to the quicksands in the middle of the desert.

CRABBY PATTY
Before you go defeat this boss you might want to talk the lady who has lost her child, located to the east of the village, just to get her mission of saving her son, trapped in the hole not far south from her house. Once you have defeated the Ultra Crab you'll unlock this achievement. Now you can either return the son to her mother and the storyline will continue or you can sacrifice him to the altar: you won't have access to Bug, one of Glitch's brothers, you won't have access to one XP bag, making impossible to achieve Explorer during this playthrough, you won't obtain the spin technique, so your combo will remain shortened and it won't be much powerful. But by doing so you'll obtain some extra achievement unachievable without doing so.

KALI
You can decide to sacrifice the son even after you've sacrificed all 3 Mưnchers and if you have some of them and the son, you will start sacrificing the Mưnchers and only then, the son. Before you sacrifice him, you have to know that by doing so the forest spirit Ki will be offended and will attack you and since you have to defeat him to get an achievement, but by leaving or dying you won't be able to challenge him no longer, you have to be really prepared. You'll unlock this achievement by sacrificing the son on the forest altar.

FOREST OFFENDER
If you choose to sacrifice him you will have to face the angry forest spirit, you can't repeat this encounter if you die or leave, only in another playthrough. Once you manage to defeat him you'll get this achievement.

NO SPINNY
If you choosed to sacrifice the son, regardless of your victory against the forest spirit, you won't have access to the spin attack, necessary to get past the gate to the red mountains, located to the far east of the map, north the portal-blocked path. Since normally you won't be able to pass this gate without that technique, the game will exceptionally allow you to get through and carry on. You will obtain this achievement only once you manage to complete the game without having obtained the spin technique.

SON SAVIOR
You'll unlock this achievement if you choose to return the son to his mother.

SPINNY WRISTS
If you choosed to return the son to her mother, you can go downstairs and meet Bug, who will teach you the spin technique and unlock this achievement. There's also a XP bag in the next room behind Bug.

MEDICINE MIXER
To unlock this achievement you first need to talk to the drunk and asleep guy, in the north-east house of the village with the signboard of a beer. Then you need to read the note near the entrance and then you need to take the glass flask on top of the shelves with you. At this point you need to collect:

• Yellow Ork blood, obtained after you've defeated him, his location is in the red mountains, to the east, north to the portal-blocked path
  
• Blue Wombat blood, obtained after you've defeated him, his location is in the alien spaceship, accessible only after defeating the Yellow Ork, located to the east of the desert

Once you have all the ingredients, return to the drunken man he will give you the Bird Key to free the Phoenixes and you will unlock this achievement.

ORK-ESTRATED ATTACKER
To obtain this achievement you have to defeat the Yellow Ork boss fight, located in the red mountains, to the east of the map, north to the portal-blocked path.

WOM-BATTLER
To unlock this achievement you must defeat the Blue Wombat, located in the alien spaceship, accessible only after defeating the Yellow Ork, located to the east of the desert.

Now that you've obtained the diamond dust, you can choose to break into the fire temple, go to the Yajuu mountains and become a tamer or you can choose to carve a statue for the pirate at the northen dock, go to Mahou island and become a sorcerer.

CRYPT CREEPER
Once you choose to climb the fire temple pay attention to the walls: there are two secret rooms, the first one contains a XP bag and its location is described in Spookey's guide, the second one is into the right wall, under the checkpoint:
To unlock this achievement all you have to do is browse to the end the secret diary at the end of the corridor.

PHOENIX PHREEDOM
Once you're on top of the temple, you have to use the Bird Key, that the drunken man gave us, to free the imprisoned Phoenixes and you'll get this achievement.

EGG SCRAMBLER
After you've freed the Phoenixes you'll have to defeat them and collect their two eggs, after that you'll unlock this achievement.

ON EAGLES' WINGS
After you've collected the two eggs you can place them on the two pedestals in front of the entrance to the Beast Master mountains, located west to the altar of sacrifices, in the forest and you'll get this achievement.

INDIANA JONES
While you're climbing down the mountains you'll see a mineshaft, with explosive boxes on the ground. All you have to do is to pull the lever at the beginning of the screen and run to the right jumping on the platforms. Once you've made it to the other side you'll get the achievement.

BOOM SHAKALAKA!
You'll finally arrive at the village, to get this achievement enter the house to the very north-east, talk to the guy dribbling the basket ball, then try to hit it with the sword until you've managed to score, after that you'll get this achievement.

BETA KERATIN
Enter the house to the left, the one with the farm on its right and you'll meet a farmer. You can either grow one of his carrots or burn down his farm. If you do the latter you won't get many achievements: "Explorer", "Glitchy Go-getter", "Soupy Girl",... during this playthrough, but you will get an extra achievement. To get this achievement you need to enter a secret cave to the south-west of the map, right under the cavern of the Beasts' masters, and fill the bucket you got from the guy playing with the basketball with water. Return to the farmer and water the soil behind him, get the grown carrot and you'll obtain this achievement.

SCARLETT O'HARA
To unlock this achievement you'll need to shoot a kamahameha attack to the farmer's plantation while in the farm.

CART SURFER
To get this achievement you need to enter the salt mines, to the north-east of the map, first. Then you need to take the cart and when you're near the end of the screen, jump over the end of the tracks, onto the floor that leads to the boss and you'll unlock this achievement.

SODIUM SCALPER
To unlock this achievement you need to defeat the Salt guardian located at the end of the salt mine, to the north-east of the map.

THE BEE'S KNEES
To get this achievement you need to defeat Baxter Knees, located in the right cage of the arena.

DRAGOOOOOOOOOO!
To get this achievement you need to defeat Ivan Dragon, located in the left cage of the arena.

HEBI HAVOC
Once you've defeated both Ivan Dragon and Baxter Knees, talk to every Beasts' masters in their cavern to the east side of the map. You'll get Buffo and Suino, now you can go to the passage to the north-east of the map, up from the salt mine and by using them you'll get through and meet Hebi imprisoned. Break all the locks, shoot him a kamehameha and ride him to get this achievement. You will also get the "Beast Master" achievement.

BEAST MASTER
You'll automatically get it, while getting "Hebi Havoc"

SOUPY CHEF
First thing you have to do to get this achievement is enter the house of the sick girl, which is located south to the basketball guy's house, and talk to her father, he will tell you he needs:

• Salt, you'll get it once you've defeated the Salt guardian
  
• Bucket filled with water, you can get it from the basketball guy, you'll need to refill it after you've used it to grow the farmer's carrot
  
• Carrot, you can get it by watering the farmer's soil with water
  
• Bonsai fruit, you can get it by climbing back the mountains where you came from, you'll need every beast so that the monk's tree will be full grown, then you can take its fruit

When you have all the ingredients you can talk again to her father and finally you'll get this achievement and gain access to their safe.

SAFE CRACKER JACK
Once you've saved the sick girl you gain access to their safe, the combination is 2-4-8, open it and you'll get this achievement.

UPWARD THRUST
To get this achievement you need to have opened the safe first, then enter it and talk to Flaw, who will teach you the upward thrust technique and you'll get this achievement.

TSSSOOOOOOOOO!!!
To get this achievement you simply need to enter the carvern to the south of the village and destroy the door with the flame symbol on it with Hebi, you'll return to Oukoku and unlock this achievement.

Mahou island path

MINI MICHAELANGELO
To get this achievement you first need the diamond dust, then go to the dock, to the north of the village and carve a statue for the pirate. He will give you a ride on his boat and you'll unlock this achievement.

To get this achievement you simply need to take the ride on the pirate's boat and land on Mahou island.

HUMORIST
Once you've arrived to the island enter the house on the right and meet another easter egg of the game. Talk to the girl and you'll get the achievement.

*GLUB* *GLUB*
To get this achievement you simply have to drown, you can do it in the ponds of the jungle temple, located to the south-west corner of the map or you can do it in the koi pond, located after the troll bridge.

WITCHY WOMAN
To unlock this achievement you have to defeat the Panda Witch, located at the end of the jungle temple, to the south-west corner of the map.

YOU HAVE NO LIFE
To obtain this achievement all you have to do is to not talk to the sorcerer located after the Panda Witch boss fight, but like "No Spinny" you won't get this achievement until you've completed the game. It should be harder to complete it and you won't receive the "Magic Master" achievement during this playthrough.

TROLL HOUSE COOKIES
To unlock this achievement you need to defeat the Bridge Troll boss fight, located to the south-east corner of the map.

DON'T PLAY KOI
To get this achievement you need to obtain the troll's brain first and give it to the fisherman located in the left house. He will lend you his fish net, necessary to catch at least one koi fish, located in the koi pond after the troll's bridge. You'll get this achievement when you'll catch your first one.

UPWARD THRUST
To get this technique you'll need the lightning spell first, you can get it by giving a koi fish to the salesman, found to the north from where you've landed on this island, he will let you speak to his sorcerer sister who will teach you the lightning spell. Once you have it you'll need to be on the highest rock on the koi pond, the one with the lightning symbol on it, and cast the lightning spell. The waters will be drained and you'll be able to reach a secret island where you'll meet Flaw that will teach you the upward thrust and you'll get this achievement.

FLEA FLICKER
To unlock this achievement you simply need to defeat the Flame Flea boss fight at the of the fire temple, located to the north-west corner of the map.

MYSTERY MAVERICK
To get this achievement you'll first need to have defeated the Flame Flea and all 3 guardians in the fire temple. You can fight each one of them by hitting and so animate their corrispondent statues, they'll drop a mystery gem and once you've collected all 3 of them and brought them to the altar, found in the room next to the Flame Flea boss, you'll unlock this achievement.

THE COLD NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWAY
To get this achievement you first have to enter the ice castle and by simply standing still for a couple of seconds you'll get freeze and get this achievement.

HAPPY DE-FEET
You can unlock this achievement by defeating the Ice Pengu boss fight, located at the end of the ice castle, to the north side of the map.

MAGIC MASTER
To unlock this achievement you'll need to obtain every spell, given by the 4 sorcerer:

• Life spell will be given by the sorcerer in the next room after the Panda Witch boss fight
  
• Lightning spell will be given by the salesman's sister, but he will let you talk to her only once you've brought him a koi fish
  
• Fire sword spell will be given by the sorcerer in the room next to the Flame Flea boss fight
  
• Ice shield spell will be given by the sorcerer in the room next to the Ice Pengu boss fight

Once you've collected all of them you'll automatically get this achievement.

EXTINGUISHER
You can get this achievement by enterning one of the many ponds with the Fire sword spell active.

TEMPLE OF DOOM
To obtain this achievement you need first the scuba gear obtainable with the upward thrust technique at the beacon, to the east side of the map. With it you're now able to explore the depths of the ponds in the jungle temple. Dive to the bottom of the first pond, enter the big room on the right and resurface. You'll see a golden monkey head, as soon as you collect it you'll unlock this achievement.

LEOPLEURO-DONTIST
Once you've picked up the golden monkey head, therefore obtained "Temple of Doom", you'll be able to unlock this achievement by defeating the Leopleuro-Dontist. You can find him in the big room below the one with the golden monkey head.

TSSSOOOOOOOOO!!!
To get this achievement you simply need to take the boat ride to the east coast of the island, you'll return to Oukoku and unlock this achievement.

Oukoku - after specializing

IS NOTHING SACRED?
If you returned to Oukoku as a sorcerer you can unlock this achievement by casting your lightning spell while on the forest altar.

FROM THE ASHES
Once you return to Oukoku, if you choosed the tamer path you'll be able to defeat the Super Phoenixes boss fight and unlock this achievement.

GOLEM IN THE GEARS
Once you return to Oukoku if you choosed the sorcerer path you'll be able to defeat the Golem boss fight and unlock this achievement.

_______________________________________________________________________________

PORTAL PULVERIZER
Regardless of which boss fight you had to combat you'll receive a portal pulverizer to use on the portal-blocked path. Once you do this you'll be able to proceed into the Kazangan volcano and will receive this achievement.

BRIDGE BEATER
You'll obtain this achievement by making it across the Red Bridge that leads to the final boss, regardless of which method: Hebi beast or lightning spell.

FORETHOUGHT
Right before the final boss, if you remembered to save 3 more glow flies, you'll be able to enter a secret room in which there's a giant ant that will supply you with food and manna potions, by doing so you'll unlock this achievement. There's also a XP bag behind the giant ant.

SHOVEL SHARPSHOOTER
Before the final boss you'll encounter the last one of the Glitch's brothers: Cavaliere-di-Pala, a Shovel Knight reference. By freeing him, he will teach you to fight in world-map mode with a shovel and by doing so you'll unlock this achievement.

ZEL-DIE
To get this achievement you'll have to die fighting Monocchio while in world-map mode.

ARMOR GAMER
Once you've defeated Monocchio while in world-map mode and went inside him, right before the Heart boss fight, in a cavity, you'll find the easter egg of Armor Games. By talking to Dan McNeely you'll unlock this achievement.

HEART FELT
Regardless of your path, tamer or sorcerer, once you defeat Monocchio's heart you'll unlock this achievement.

TSO CHOMPER
Once defeated the heart of Monocchio, if you chose the tamer path you'll unlock this achievement.

TSO SPELLBINDER
Once defeated the heart of Monocchio, if you chose the sorcerer path you'll unlock this achievement.

Extra achievements

LEVELED OUT
You can obtain this achievement at any moment, everywhere, you only need to max Armor, Special and Sword to level 10 and you'll unlock this achievement.

GRINDER
Like "Leveled Out" you can get this achievement at any time, everywhere, you simply need to collect 5000 XP after you've maxed out everything and you'll unlock this achievement.

INSANITY!
This should be your last achievement you might want to get because it's the most difficult one. To unlock it you simply have to complete the game without dying once. Here's a guide that might be helpful.

Did insanity and explorer in one run. Took many retrys with each run takng 5 hours as i grinded to max at blue wombat. Finally got it after ~25 retrys. I am now good at the game.

@Sans "Cavaliere di pala" is a somewhat broken italian translation of "Knight of the shovel" and they look very much alike (also this game came out a year after the release of Shovel Knight).
So, of course absolutely! (I'll add it to the guide as a side note in case anyone else missed it)

You can achieve the Forest Offender achievement if you activate the Is Nothing Sacred achievement. I found this to be far easier, as I had much better equipment. A great guide though!
