Solution
Hello fellow M2:TW players!

You want to play multiplayer but you can only see 2 games in the lobby? There is no real solution but you and your friend may choose the same download location in the steam settings.

How to do it? Click on Steam in the menu then -> Settings -> Downloads

You will still see only 2 games in the lobby, but the chances that one of the games will belong to your opponent is actually quite high.

The bug appears mostly during peak hours (evenings in Europe) and persists during entire weekends.

When it will be fixed? Well, guess what. This bug has been killing MP experience for months and it has not been fixed and i don't believe it will in a 10 year old game. Steam provides multiplayer service in M2:TW and is quite happy to charge you for the game but spending money on quality servers - hell no!

Another solution provided by RadioactiveEJ:
You can play online with your friend using Hamchi server.
Download hamachi and get you and your friend a room. Next go into medieval 2's files by right clickingit in the library, properties, then get to LOCAL FILES and click on "browse local files". Instantly in that folder find the file: medieval2.preference.cfg and open it in wordpad. Now go down to network and where it says use_ip or somethin glike that, copy your ipv4 address from hamachi and place it in there. Now close that and save. as long as you and your friend are in the hamachi room together, you can now see each other in the lan lobby.

Hope i helped.

Never played online so I thought I'd check it out and have only seen 2 games... I just thought the community was inactive, didn't know it was a glitch. Shame. :3
