How to start the game with an offline profile to bypass GFWL
By tomato
I'm creating this guide as a go-to for people who just bought this game and can't play it because of it needing a games for windows live account (now defunct). So hold your "this game doesnt work" negative reviews and check this out unless the game is clearly, incompatible with your PC.
If this solution doesn't work either, go ahead and drop those reviews at the store page.

Intro
This game needs a Windows Live account to play, and without one, you might get a little confused on making the game function properly. While this guide might not work for all people, here's what I did on my Windows 8 PC to make the game save.

Credits to Hungry Akagi on this thread talking about how to get the game to save your progress.

In addition, if you need more detailed steps, here's a youtube video uploaded by another GFWL user that solves the same issue with the same methods. Skip 1/3 of the video to get to the content.

Run the game, and follow these steps

LIke this page says, you will need to create a gamer profile, and I will walk you through creating one. Click on "sign in".

This should be the main screen that prompts you to connect to Windows Live. Click on "create a new profile".

The next page should tell you a bunch of useless stuff about Windows Live, but if you scroll down, you will see a highlighted text that says "create a new profile". You will have to click on it to make an offline profile for saving your game.

The next step is to name your profile. Type your desired name then press submit.

This should be the last page. You can customize your profile if you want, but I haven't done that. Press "done".

Congratulations, you can now play the game.

Enjoy your copy of Battlestations pacific. Complete the campaign, play some singleplayer gamemodes, do all that stuff.

However, if you attempt to play multiplayer, the game will tell you that your gamer profile is not eligible for it. As far as I know, there is a way to play it by actually joining Windows Live, and if you really want to, you can comment down below. I'll try to help you as much as I can.

It's been a long time since I've played multiplayer, and I forget things... I only thing I remember is to link an actual windows live account to the game in order to play multiplayer, but I am not so sure anymore. :(

Feel free to check the discussions and comments on this guide for more information too-- It seems that the GFWL service has still been updated over the years (somewhat).

You can also play BS:Pacific by signing in with a Microsoft account when asked to sign in with GFWL ingame. I am playing with a microsoft account and can play singleplayer and multiplayer without problems. Make sure to add the game to xbox console companion app for pc and start it through there, then sign in using your microsoft account. Enioy!
