Install

Choose ONE of the easy to use patches to install.

If you want to install both, make a copy of your game directory first and install the Community patch into the new folder.

Online Patch

Fixes black screen, crashes and allows online play on modern versions of Windows

If you use two factor authentication with your Microsoft account, use an "app password" instead of your normal password. You can get yours here: https://account.live.com/proofs/AppPassword

It can take 5 minutes to sign in to your account at first so be patient. It can also take even longer to download your profile but there shouldn't be any more additional loading once this is done.

Run the file and it should detect where the game is installed, then install the patch.

Troubleshooting

Online Patch

• Does not work if the Community Mod Patch is installed. You can only use one.
  
• Will need a clean install of the game before you install the patch.
  
• May need a Microsoft / GFWL account that was created before GFWL was shutdown.
  
• If the game keeps stuttering / stalling, disable NVIDIA GeForce ShadowPlay.

Community Mod Patch

• Can be installed on top of the Online Patch but will overwrite it and disable online play.
  
• The new characters work for all installed languages but will always use their English localisation.
  
• Known bug: Mega Man's gun and Cole's amp will appear on the opposite hand if they are Player 2.

i have a file named as "content.xbx" whats that file?

theres a way to play online with the costumes that were exclusive to consoles and im not talking about remote play with someone that have already installed the mod. This guide needs an update

On Pac-man and Mega Man rivals cutscenes the second character appears on those scenes, the correct is not for them showing there.

Victor, if you downloaded the online patch, that does NOT have the characters. If you downloaded the offline community fix, they appear there. You just have to run the executable and then they appear, though they are missing some of their effects from the Playstation (Pac-Man is missing his lightning particles for his super, makes it look like he's just levitating and crushing you there or something. Megaman is missing the special unique projectile effects, though they have been replaced with effects that are already in the game that look kinda similar).

Pacman and Megaman don't appear. I know they're PlayStation exclusive but I thought this patch allowed them to appear.

Works great thanks.
But any way to unlock all the gems as well ?
It seems weird, some gems are shown as purchased and available, but some others are still locked.
On top of that some are available to some characters, but not to others...

For a year or so...I can no longer enter the game in the Press Start function(after installing the Community Patch on a clean install of the game) What should I do from here? Is the version of the executable at 1.4 sounds right? Funny enough, it seems to run perfectly on one of my laptops though. :(
