Bypass checkpoints and save when you want
By colours (⌐■_■)
Does the checkpoint system in this game have a hold on when you play? Do you wish you could bypass checkpoints and save whenever you needed to. Relatively quick trick to force an autosave wherever you are in the game!

Hit escape while ingame
Hit escape and select gameplay, it is the third option down. Find the difficulty setting, change it from whatever it is to something else, hit esape and select yes when asked whether to save changes, hit escape again and the game will autosave.

You can either go back in and quickly change the difficulty back and resume playing knowing you have a save, or you can exit the game and change the difficulty when you reload the save at a later time. It isn't the most effecient saving method, but if you need to leave in a hurry or you just get bored and don't want to lose progress between areas but you really don't want to/can't play anymore, this is the solution that worked for me.

I was also having stability issues so this was my way of not losing progress if my video card drivers crashed.

that doesn't work for me. I do everything descripted, it says "saving profile" but it doesn't actually save.

@2015 LUL The checking isn't necessary. The game displays text at the top 1/4 of the screen anytime it autosaves, if this text appears then it has saved, if it does not, then the directions are not being followed and I recommend trying again from the beginning.

@2016 LUL I found the trick on windows, it's unlikely that is the issue causing it not to work in your case.

@2016 LUL Yep. No other way I've found to force a save.

So you practically need to change the difficulty and your game will be saved?

Really sneaky... I like it. Don't know how I did not think of this before.

Useful when you want to stop without thinking what progress will be lost. Thank you

Smart idea. I like it. I had to go to work the other day when I was playing and lost nearly 20 minutes of gameplay. Thanks
