Part 1 - Gameplay Questions
Hello, Kingdom Wars 2: Battles community!

Since we often see same kind of questions around on this forums and ingame, we have decided to make a FAQ to help you out with various issues/questions about KW2: B.

This FAQ covers many topics about both game and technical issues, so we ask you to review this before making a new topic, and see if your questions is already answered :)

1. How to change game resolution?

If you want to change the game resolution, you must do so outside of the game, by going to the Options that are available after selecting play from Steam.

2. How to move the camera?

To move the camera - press Right Mouse Button and move the mouse, use Arrow keys , or hold Space Bar and use W, A, S, D keys

3. How to zoom in our out?

To zoom in and out - scroll the mouse wheel. Or use Page Up and Page Down keys.

4. How to rotate the camera?

To rotate the camera - press Middle Mouse Button, and move the mouse. Or hold Space Bar and use Q and E keys.

5. Can I play KW2: B offline?

You may play Kingdom Wars 2 in offline mode. If you try and load Kingdom Wars 2 while offline, it will ask you if you would like to play in offline mode. While playing in offline mode all online features such as Guilds, Ranks, Trade, Social and Multiplayer are disabled, but you may still play the Campaign and Singleplayer game modes. If you are disconnected from online while playing, the game will automatically go into offline mode. While in offline mode, no rewards are received.

6. Can I save my progress?

In single player games you may save your game at any point by selecting Menu and selecting Save. To continue your game make sure you pick the same game mode and choose Continue. Once you have won the current game your save will be erased. In the Campaign each chapter has two checkpoints that automatically save your game. You will know when you hit these checkpoints when an hour-glass icon is displayed. To continue your campaign game, make sure to select Continue as selecting Play will restart this Chapter.

7. How do I earn crafting components?

You may earn Crafting Components from login rewards or playing any type of singleplayer or multiplayer matches, you can also exchange and trade components using Social and Trade menus.

8. What are crafting components?

Crafting Components are used to research new Technologies and craft Cards to use in battles.Crafting Components are split up into four different rarities – Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic. The rarity and amount of these rewards are dependent on the difficulty of the game and other various settings. On default, you have 50% chance to get a Common item, 30 to 15% chance to get Uncommon or Rare items, and only 10% to get an Epic item. You may trade your Crafting Components with other players from the main screen.

9. What is crafting technologies?

Crafting Techs may be unlocked with acquiring the requested Crafting Components. These Techs unlock new buildings, units, research and spells to be used in battle. Each race has its own Tech Tree. Choose which Techs to unlock first wisely to ensure you get the best benefits from spending your Crafting Components.

10. What are crafting cards?

Crafting Cards are used in battle for bonuses, boosts, and units. You can craft cards from acquiring the requested Crafting Components. Every time you craft a Card, you get five cards of that type. Each race has its own Card Tree. After crafting Cards, you may select up to four different Cards to use in battle. But remember, after using a card it will decrease your total cards of that type – eventually requiring you to craft more Cards.

11. What are zombies and what's the point of zombies in KW2: B?

Zombies, or The Risen, are walking dead that rise from corpses of all these dead warriors. They become more aggressive at night and may attack your units, buildings, walls and gates. To prevent Zombies from rising from corpses, make sure to have your workers (Peasants, Marauders, Labourers, and Wardens) task to looting corpses. This will make the corpses disappear, and you will gain resources from the corpses. You may also use Fire and Fiery Arrows to burn the corpses. But if Zombies do arise, the fastest way to dispatch them is by using Fire Magic or Fire/Fiery Arrows.

12. Can I turn off zombies?

In some game modes, Zombies can be turned off before starting a game.

13. What is Zombie survival?

Zombie Survival is a special game mode where you or your team must survive waves of zombies that attack you castle. The more waves you survive, the more zombies attack. Zombie Survival gives you rewards every three waves while rewards are significantly increased the further you get. You may play Zombie Survival in Single Player or Multiplayer Mode.

14. What are NPCs?

There are four types of NPCs in Kingdom Wars - adding extra strategic and tactical elements. You may encounter Bandit Camps - a fortified position, garrisoned by NPC human units. After defeating all defends, this small keep will go under your control. Another common sight is Healing Springs. Protected by Ogres or Goblins, these ancient spots of healing magic will quickly hear and recover your wounded. Finally there are Wolf and Warg nests, that usually hold a lot of stone or gold inside loot carts. Bring your workers to loot the cards after slaying all the wolfs and wargs. If you encounter a Dragon on the map be sure to acquire a large military force to slay him. The Dragon guards a chest that contains Crafting Components. To open the chest, you must use a Wizard or Hero to reap the rewards.

15. How combat works?

Your units have additional stats and abilities when you select them. You can view units health, stamina and damage and resistances when moving mouse pointer over their portrait in the lower left interface. Scrolling over an ability in the units interface will provide a tooltip description of the ability. Your units can run at an increased speed in the game but use their stamina points. Double Right Click after selecting your units to have them run, or hold Shift while tasking. You may also task your units into groups. Hold control and select a number on your keypad to assign selected units to a group. Before starting a match, it's a good idea to use any Crafting Components to unlock Techs and Cards from the main menu for new buildings, units, and abilities to use in battle. Make sure to select up to four Cards to use in Battles from the Card Menu. All battalions units gain experience through combat, eventually allowing them to level up. Levelled up units will experience an automatic increase in health, and will be rewarded with a skill point which the player may use to boost a stat of his or her choice. When a unit levels up, its icon will blink, and stars will briefly surround the battalion, at which point the player should click on that unit's icon and select the ‘Spend Skill Points' button to reap the benefits.

16. What are siege machines and how do I use them?

Using siege engines is essential to penetrating enemy defenses. You can use Siege Ladders, Siege Towers, Belfries and/or Treants to get your units onto the enemy walls. You can also use Trebuchets, Catapults, and Bolt Throwers to take out enemy archers on the walls, and Siege Rams and Treants to break the gates. There are three ways to open enemy gate - by breaking it down with a Treant or Siege Ram, by capturing the gate flag, or by getting your infantry units over the walls with Siege Ladders or Towers and destroying the large Gate Crank object on the other side of the gate. Armies can also destroy enemy gate segments with heavy siege equipment to allow their units to walk right into the enemy stronghold. You may also capture the gate and take control of the gate by scaling the walls and having your units stand next to the gate flag - if it has one.
Part 2 - More Gameplay Questions
17. How do I loot corpses?

Corpses of dead units and equipment hold a lot of valuable resources that can be harvested by workers (Peasants, Marauders, Labourers, and Wardens). It is highly recommended to loot all of your fallen soldiers or dead enemies. Wherever there is combat, there can be looting - allowing for an additional source of resources. Be sure to bring units that can loot wherever your army may be fighting or exploring. To start looting, use the Task to Corpse Looting button in the unit's interface, and the units will automatically loot all nearby corpses. Alternatively, players can right-click on a corpse with these worker units selected to command the units to loot. It is a good idea to loot corpses as they can turn into zombies if left lay – but if you don’t have any worker units with your army, you can also burn the corpses using Fire Arrows, Fiery Arrows or Flaming arrows. Once the corpses are burned, you may not loot them for resources.

18. How do I fight fires?

The enemy forces may come at your stronghold with fiery arrows and siege projectiles, which have the potential of setting forests and buildings aflame. These forests can be devastating to both allied and enemy units to include buildings. To put out a hazardous fire, select your worker units (Peasants, Wardens, and Labourers) and select the Fight Fires/Downpour action on their interface. Orc Labourers and Human Peasants will automatically fight fires while Elven Wardens need to be commanded where to cast their downpour spell – but are more effective at putting out a fire quickly. Idle Peasants and Labourers can be tasked to fight fires even before a battle begins, so they are well prepared when the time comes.

19. How can I defend my walls?

It is important to halt enemy advances sieging your castle, and one of their first targets will be your Castle Gates. Be sure to leave several battalions inside of your gates, ready to meet any foes who break through. It is equally important for these troops to keep an eye on your Gate Crank, which can also be used to open the gate from the inside if destroyed. Small gatehouses can be upgraded, allowing them to take more damage from enemy rams. If you have upgraded your walls to Large Wooden Walls or Stone Walls your gates will have a flag placed over the gateway. If the enemy scales your walls and captures this flag by standing next to it, they will gain control of the gate. Make sure you protect your gateways with melee units to defend off enemies that can scale your wall. Be sure to place melee units on your walls to defend your archers and protect against wall-scaling enemy units. Your archers will work great for distance, but they were not trained for close quarters combat. While preparing for an enemy siege, place a few battalions of melee units on your walls to provide protection.

34. How many playable races are in the game right now?

There are three races in the Kingdom Wars for now - Humans, Elf, And Orcs. You also get access to various other creatures and units - such are Dwarves, Dragon, and Minotaur and so on.

35. Do you plan to add more races to the game?

We have plans to add three more races - Undead, Dragons and fully playable Dwarves. However, this mostly depends on KW2: B having big enougth player base to support such massive expansion packs.

36. Do you plan to release DLCs for the game?

Absolutely. New units, new campaign chapters, and much more. We wouldn't call these DLCs though -as in best traditions of our company all the additions to the game are usually free of charge, and will be added automaticly.

37. I love the music in game, can I download/buy the soundtrack?

All of Kingdom Wars 2: Battles music was created by Joel Steudler. We`ll look into adding soundtrack collection in the near future.

38. Do you plan to add more maps to the game?

Yes, there will hopefully be more official maps added on soon. We will also be adding fan made maps submitted to us.

39. Can I make my own maps/does KW2:B have editor?

Yes, there's a scenario Editor included with the game if you are interested in creating your own maps. We'll be looking to add Steam Workshop support in the near future so players can share their maps too, at least for singleplayer games. This will include support for both singleplaye and multiplayer scenarios, and player created campaigns.

40. What languages are supported within the game?

English, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Italian. English and German have full voice acting. French voice acting is half done at this point. We are hoping to complete French and Russian voice acting in the near future.

41. I've found a bug/possible exploit, what do I do?

Please contact our Support team by email (support@reverieworld.com) or visit our Steam forum. Before making a thread on forum, please read a "How to submit bug report" topic (http://steamcommunity.com/app/253190/discussions/1/618457398961709880/).

Yes, our developing team is working on a massive DirectX 11 upgrade, that we hope to add to Kingdom Wars 2: Battles around June.

45. What is the difference between your first title, Kingdom Wars, and Kingdom Wars 2: Battles?

Basically, biggest difference (even though our games look similar) is idea behind gameplay. While Kingdom Wars is MMORTS with persistent world, where you build and expand your kingdom, Kingdom Wars 2: Battles is a fast-paced RTS focused on multiplayer skirmish battles with episodic single-player campaign.

46. Can I make customized hero like on some other RTS games?

Yes - there`s a good chance this will be added soon after release. It will include customizable hero that acts both as your avatar, and a unit in-game.

There's a large in-game "Help" section, which covers most of the things you will need to know to play the game.
