It's missing one barrel right at the entrance. It's more of a theoretical maximum than anything, and it's terribly unfriendly to use. You can hybridize it with the tree layout to get a somewhat better trade-off. You can find it in one of the comments there.
Is 2.5% more barrels worth the trade-off? This is a pareto-optimization problem. I'm trying to minimize traversal time with the loop. The tree layout looks good on paper but try actually using it - it takes far longer to empty and refill. There's a good reason for it and that depends on how well you control the mouse, but I dont have enough characters to describe it. I have 11 of these barns so that actually matters a lot. This is simply what I find most pleasant to use.
How much you can fit matters less than you might think, because the difference become small if the total area is large enough, and the barn is big. -.<
