Well, it's not really a guide, more of a list of challenges for EBF4.

Introduction
This is a collection of Epic Battle Fantasy 4 challenges, if you want to make the game a bit more challenging, then you might want to take a look at this guide.
Even though this guide is for the steam version of EBF4, you can apply these challenges to the flash version, if you want.

For any challenges that I didn't come up with, the name that is credited is the name that the person had when I saw their comment.

Also this is my first steam guide, if there is anything I did wrong, please let me know.
Basic challenges
These challenges are very basic, and don't need a lot of explaining.

Epic Challenge
This one is practically built into the game, just play the game on epic mode.

No Items
For this challenge, just play the game without using items, You can still buy and sell them though, and use them for upgrading your gear.

Limited Challenge
Another very basic one, just don't use Limit Break skills, feel free to spend AP on them, as long as you don't use Limit Breaks.

Flairless Challenge
Yet another simple one, just beat the game without using flairs, if a character starts with one equipped, unequip it.

No Specials Challenge
Beat the game without using special skills, basically no skills that more than one character can learn, Anna and Lance will have to be your main healers, as they are the only ones that have healing skills that nobody else can learn (Renew and Refresh for Anna, Medipack for Lance), if a special skill is activated by your equipment (like the Pope's Dress randomly using Revive,) then that is still allowed.
This challenge is actually easier than I originally thought, so don't be afraid to try it.

No Death Challenge
Beat the game without dying, if even one of your party members dies, you must either run from battle, or if that is not possible, you must reload from a previous save file, so save often.
If death is prevented by Morale or Auto-Revive status, that is still allowed.
The Sacrifice skill is allowed to be used, just be careful with it.
It's probably a good idea to use genesis on the first battle against ??? Godcat.

New Game++ No Stat Boosters
Credit to NotVela for the challenge idea.
Beat New Game++ (unlocked by beating New Game+, which is unlocked by beating the game), without using permanent stat boosters.

No Equip Upgrades
Credit to NotVela for the challenge idea.
Beat the game without ever upgrading your gear, so all your gear is level 1, even near the end of the game.

Two Element Challenge
Credit to NotVela for the challenge idea.
Beat the game, but only using two elements throughout your entire adventure. (and yes, Non-Elemental counts as an element.)

No Equipment Switching
Credit to Akreon Dorplasy for the challenge idea.
Beat the game without changing your equipment, so whatever equipment a character starts with must stay equipped for the rest of the game.

The Ultimate Challenge
Credit to azradeitan for the challenge idea.
Reach wave 222 on the Endless Battle, according to azradeitan, it's possible, so you just need to figure out how to do it (or look at azradeitan's comment, which explains the challenge.)
Mandatory Battle Mountain Challenge
This one is a bit more complex.

At certain points in the game, you must go to Battle Mountain, and do some stuff there.

The first point at which you must travel to Battle Mountain, is after the battle with the Mighty Oak, after you defeat it, grab the axe (and any other treasure you want) but don't get Lance yet, instead, backtrack to either the Greenwood Village, or Ashwood Forest slime cats, and travel to Battle Mountain from there, then, defeat the enemies you can reach (including the Armoured Oak), and grab the treasure (okay, you don't have to grab the treasure, but it is recommended).

Exit Battle Mountain, and proceed as normal, head through Crystal Caverns, and once you get to Whitefall town, do whatever you want, but don't head to the Waste Disposal Plant or Greybone Cemetary yet, you will have to grab the first Battery though.

As you may have guessed, we are going back to Battle Mountain, use the Battery to unlock more of Battle Mountain, proceed, and defeat all enemies you can reach (including the Diamond Golem), get the treasure if you want, and head back to Whitefall town, then proceed to the Waste Disposal Plant (or Graybone Cemetary if you want).

After you get the Hammer, head to Battle Mountain again, you should know what to do by this point, but just in case you don't, defeat all enemies you can reach (including The Praetorian MKII), get any treasure you want, and return to the main story.

After You get the Thermal Boots, guess where you have to go (Battle Mountain) :D
This time, head east from the entrance, and battle the Cosmic Monolith, thats about all you can do here, so return to the main story.

Once you get to Goldenbrick Resort, battle the Sand Worm, grab the Stepladder, and head to Battle Mountain.
you know what to do here, after you are done there, return to the main story, and enter The Temple of Godcat, proceed until you get the Winged Boots, travel to Battle Mountain, defeat all enemies you can reach, including the Monster Marathon, Miniboss Rush, Boss Rush, Battle Mountain Boss Rush and Dark Boss Rush, you can even try the Endless Battle, after you are done here, return to the main story, and proceed as normal (and beat the game).

If you wish to continue this challenge in New Game+, simply repeat all these steps once you get there.
Ending
So, those were some EBF4 challenges, of course, if you want an even greater challenge, do multuple challenges at once (like beat the game without using flairs OR items), anyways, I should end the guide now, I don't want to take forever making this, feel free to give feedback if you want, you don't have to though.

As of May 4th 2019, I will not be adding any more challenges to this guide, because I've honestly started to get bored of this, but I'll leave the guide here in case anyone wants to read it.
Any challenges in this guide that are not my idea were submitted before May 4th 2019.

Currently I am doing a challenge run I deem "EBF4 Extreme". It basically involves beating the entire game whilst having every in-game challenge option enabled, epic mode, no items or limits in battle, and no steroids. It feels like it's right on the edge of what's possible without huge RNG. Mighty Oak was horrible until I gave in to the dark side and used Friend Dog for MP restoration. Crystal Golem was a joke due to weaken, meanwhile Praetorian wasn't quite as hellish as Mighty Oak and I beat them in less attempts but each attempt took a ridiculous amount of time so it was pretty bad. If you feel like pushing this game to its limits, I recommend giving this challenge a try. Since I've beaten the first 3 bosses, I am about 90% sure it is reasonably possible to go on and beat the whole game.

(Ignore the unintentional link below; it does nothing).

I *would* add Mandatory Battles Only (a.k.a., low level) on Epic, but Mighty Oak is an absolute WALL thanks to your lack of Protect and Barrier. I had to abuse the map skip glitch to get what I needed to beat him!
Also, the final boss might not be beatable at level below 33 (the boss' own level) without insane stat item farming thanks to the Double Difficulty Multiplier...bug? Feature? It's where difficulty-based stat modifiers are applied twice to enemies higher than level 32...which the final boss was originally at before Battle Mountain.

also, i forgot to say, in endless, if the foe can summon other guy... the foe will be at youre lvl (in my case 55) + wave number divided by 5 making it SUPER hard if you get unlucky with the RNG
beacause .... its terrafying to fight lvl 80 cat that ...

The guide has been updated, although this will probably be the final update.

the ultimate challenge: REACH WAVE 222 ON ENDLESS (ive done it!)

HOW??? you ask?
first beat the game with matt only (so kill evryone else on the party)
skip lance using the speedrun glitch of skiping tile with the mouse<-->keyboard switch (you can also skip natalie)

since the party dead, only matt lvl up and he can do his powerfull revenge attack making bosses on epic wayyy easier

finish battle mounten at the first time (and you'll notice the foes lvl is VERY low compared to matt one)

finish newgame, start newgame+ and THEN unlock lance and natalie (this exploit will make them lvl 1 and not 10/7 as normal)
|
REPEAT /|\
|
in newgame++ (around lvl 52) the foes in battle mounten will be lvl 14, making possible to insta-kill anything, and then do the math of endless battle

(Matt lvl -- foes lvl in the first wave) x 5 = waves untill they're lvl will be the same as yourse
add to this 25 and you get the aproximitly number of waves you can do

Not-elemental is counted, so it's harder, yeah, the permanent stat boosters are the ones, this is going to be fun... Time to rage
