100 Tickrate Is it still possible?
By pimp
Of course it is, but it isn't stable at all. Valve decided to remove 100 tickrate on servers. Some servers are running 100 tickrate still, dont ask me how they do it. You can check if the server is running 100 tick by typing net_graph 3 in your console. To remove it type net_graph 0. If you see this around 66/s tickrate on the top of it and on the bottom, then it means it runs 66 tickrate on the server. So yeah lets get started, and always remember you need console in order to make it work. Simply just copy these settings i got for you.

So follow this to figure out what your rates should be...

If you just play on 66 tickrate servers:

cl_cmdrate 67
cl_updaterate 67
cl_interp_ratio 2
cl_interp 0.0305

If you play on 100 tickrate servers:

cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
cl_interp_ratio 2
cl_interp 0.01906

If you play on 66 and 100 tickrate servers:

cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
cl_interp_ratio 2
cl_interp 0.02470 (Set this if you want, it does make a little bit better performance)

Follow these steps, and you optimize your gameplay, and you are syncing yourself with the server's connection, and improves your latency(Ping,Connection). And of course your ping will increase a bit, but it is the "truth" ping time for the server.

Tickrate is how often a server checks for changes in the game state. For instance how often it checks a player's position et cetera. 100 Tick servers check these values 100 times per second. The higher the tickrate the more "responsive" or "accurate" a server may be. The source engine only supports up to 128 ticks per second. The author of this article clearly has no idea what s/he is talking about, as server owners can define any tickrate they want up to 128 tick for their servers depending on what they feel is right.

Sidenote: You should always use cl_interp 0 so that your game can autodetermine the best interp for you. On top of that, cl_interp_ratio 1 is generally considered the best setting for good connections. A client's cmdrate and updaterate should always be as high as possible so that it may fit any server it joins. Therefore, I'd use the following network settings assumming you have a good connection to most servers. This is regardless of the tickrate of said server;
