How To Get Hromir's Icestaff Right After Misdirection Quest Without Being An Archmage

After the Misdirection quest in Oblivion you might feel bad for returning the Hromir's Icestaff, but there is a way you can get it, actually 2 ways. 1. The original way, you can join the mages guild and rank all the way up to Archmage, but you ain't got no time for that! Then you have the 2. option which is described in this guide and is much easier and doesn't require you to be a member of the Mages Guild at all, but keep in mind that you can get the staff only if you have completed the Misdirection quest for the Thieves Guild. Hope this will help you save some time and I also recommend you to buy White Mage's Robes (purchasable at Rindir's Staffs) and wear it with the staff cuz it will simply look ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome on your mage character and don't forget to enchant the robes! (Yes, I know that you have to be in the Mages Guild, specificaly at rank of an Apprentice which is acquired by getting all the Guild Hall's recommendations to enchant stuff, but you can do it without it if you have the Frostcrag Spire DLC after you buy the Magetallow Candles Box for 3303g [that's the highest possible price])

1. step

Ok, first of all you need to complete the Misdirection quest for the Thieves Guild to get this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of the Waterfront District (everybody is looking at you Hieronymus Lex).










In this quest you steal the Hromir's Icestaff to piss off the Mages Guild Archmage Hannibal Traven who will send Dremora to hand letter saying ♥♥♥♥ you to the Hieronymus Lex which will make him move his watch back to the city.











Then you just sneak into the house of Ontus and place the staff into his chest in his bedroom (nobody is going to be in the house so it is pretty easy actually).

2. step

Ok, you have completed the quest so far but you don't have the staff anymore, but don't panic, in the next few steps you are going to get it back without the red hand mark which means that the item is stolen and once the guards catch you doing some crazy ♥♥♥♥, they are going to take it from you back.








First thing you are going to do is to sneak into the Arch-Mage's Tower Council Chambers, the spot which my character is located in is one of the best spots if the mages are talking for you to sneak in.









Then you need to get to the Arch-Mage's Quarters and steal the Hromir's Icestaff again.

3. step

Once you have acquired the Hromir's Staff again we need to get rid of the red stolen item mark.










In order to do so locate your nearest fence. But before you do so, you need to get some extra gold (at least 1921).









Then simply sell the staff to the fence.





Once you sold it you should be able to buy it back (prepare some money before that because it's going to be way more expensive than when you sold it).






And there you go, you have it and it's all yours!
