Introduction
The goal in Rusty Lake Hotel is to help the five guests and serve dinner on the five days. To do so, you will need to gather the ingredients for the recipes. The stars you get on each meal will depend on how many ingredients you have collected for that dinner. The ratings are:

One Star: Well Done!
Two stars: Almost perfect!
Three Stars: The perfect dinner!

On the first day, you can take cocktails to the guests and learn about what they want you to do when the night comes. On the following days, you can find some ingredients and ask Mr. Toad (the Chef) to prepare the meal with the ingredients you have collected. You can’t go to the guests’ rooms during the day.

When the night comes, you can find some of the ingredients, and you may choose which of the five guests you will help for the night (which affects the meal on the next day).

Each meal takes three ingredients: two optional and the main ingredient that you will get when finishing the room. One of the optional ingredients can always be found inside the room, while the other can only be found outside.

The following guide will tell you where to find each ingredient, how to get the Secret Rusty Lake Specialty, and at the end, you can find the best order to collect all the ingredients and make the perfect meals in one play-through.
Room 1: Mr. Deer
Recipe and Ingredients: Deer steak with mushrooms and rosemary.
Outside Ingredient (Optional): Mushrooms.
Main Ingredient: Deer Meat.
In-room ingredient (Optional): Rosemary.

How to get the ingredients:
Mushrooms: They can be found on the first night. The telephone in the front desk will be ringing. Pick it up, and Mr. Owl tells you to check his portrait. Go to the portrait next to the elevator and click twice on the mushrooms.

Deer Meat: Story-related. Can’t be missed.

Rosemary: In Mr. Deer’s Room, you can find a Deer skull. Clicking on its right antler stump will make it grow. If you keep clicking on it, the left antler will grow. When it’s fully grown (the next time you click, Tabasco will come out of its nose), a leaf can be found on the top of the left antler. Click on it twice and you will get the Rosemary.

Room 2: Mr. Boar
Recipe and Ingredients: Wild boar ribs in red wine with tomatoes.
Outside Ingredient (Optional): Red Wine.
Main Ingredient: Boar Ribs.
In-room ingredient (Optional): Tomatoes.

How to get the ingredients:
Tomatoes: After feeding Mr. Boar his sandwich and handing him the toilet paper, he will go back to his divan. Instead of giving him his opium as you normally would, make him another sandwich. Once he leaves the toilet and after you get the sandwich’s ingredient, click on the toilet again and a red liquid will come out of it. Click on it again to get the tomatoes.

Boar Ribs: Story-related. Can’t be missed.

Red Wine: On the day after you solve Ms. Pheasant’s puzzles, you can see the glass of red wine she drinks during the day on the window. Click on it to get it.

Room 3: Ms. Pheasant
Recipe and Ingredients: Pheasant breast in white wine and thyme
Outside Ingredient (Optional): White Wine.
Main Ingredient: Pheasant Breast.
In-room Ingredient (Optional): Thyme.

How to get the ingredients:
White Wine: On the day after you solve Mrs. Pigeon’s puzzles, you can see the glass of white wine she drinks during the day on the pillow she used to sit. Click on it to get it.

Pheasant Breast: Story-Related. Can’t be missed.

Thyme: It can be found on the top-right corner of the clock. Click on the leaf twice.
Room 4: Mr. Rabbit
Recipe and Ingredients: Rabbit stew with carrots and white beans.
Outside Ingredient (Optional): Carrot.
Main Ingredient: Rabbit Leg.
In-room Ingredient (Optional): White Beans.

How to get the ingredients:
Carrot: It can be found on the second night. Mr. Crow will start cawing, and if you talk to him, he will tell you to have a look in his pocket. Click on the left side of his coat twice, and you can see a carrot inside his pocket. Click on it twice to get it.

Rabbit Leg: Story-Related. Can’t be missed.

White Beans: After getting the knife, and BEFORE using it on the stubborn box, use it on the drawing of Mr. Owl. There is a slit on his forehead; click on it with the knife selected and it will rip the drawing. Click three more times to get the ingredient.

Room 5: Mrs. Pigeon
Recipe and Ingredients: Pigeon in blackberry sauce with potatoes.
Outside Ingredient (Optional): Potatoes.
Main Ingredient: Pigeon Wing.
In-room Ingredient (Optional): Blackberries.

How to get the ingredients:
Potatoes: They can be found on the third night. If you look out the windows on the lobby, you can see a bright white light falling while the room goes dark. After this, Mr. Bat will be hiding on the top left of the screen. Click on him twice, and again on every other side of the lobby until he goes back to his usual position. Click on him, and he will give you the potatoes.

Pigeon Wing: Story-Related. Can’t be missed.

Blackberries: After unlocking the strange cabinet and BEFORE releasing Young Bird, flip the lever on and off six times. While they are being electrocuted, the blackberries will appear on their beak. Click on it twice to get it.

Secret Rusty Lake Specialty
If you paid attention during your puzzle solving and ingredient hunting, you saw colored stamps throughout some documents.

On the following day, the key to the room you have solved can be found behind the main desk.

There is a safe next to the elevator with the same stamps you have found on the rooms.

If you remember in which room each stamp was found, you can put the keys in the safe in the correct order. This will unlock the safe, revealing the Secret Rusty Lake Specialty.
Best Order (and Why)
The best order to gather all the ingredients and making all the perfect dinners in one playthrough is this: Mr. Deer’s room on the first night, Mr. Rabbit’s room on the second night, Mrs. Pigeon’s room on the third night, Ms. Pheasant’s room on the fourth night and Mr. Boar’s room on the fifth night. This is because of the following reasons:

Mr. Boar’s outside ingredient can only be obtained after doing Ms. Pheasant’s night.
Ms. Pheasant’s outside ingredient can only be obtained after doing Mrs. Pigeon’s night.
Mr. Rabbit’s outside ingredient can only be obtained on the second night.
Mrs. Pigeon’s outside ingredient can only be obtained on the third night.

Hey, just wanted to add another discovered solution for the white beans, you do not need the knife, the slit can be cut open with a sword.

I found them using the sword instead of the knife. This one isn't dependent on the knife. Nice guide by the way!

@Krylo
Mrs. Pigeon's outside ingredient is potatoes, which are obtained on the third night, OP was correct in that statement. Mrs. Pheasant's outside ingredient is white wine, obtainable only by day after killing Mrs. Pigeon, BEFORE cooking the pigeon breast (same is true for the red wine).

The best order suggested is the best order, due to the following:
1. Mr. Deer requires mushrooms given on night one by Mr. Owl's portrait
2. Mr. Rabbit's carrots can only be obtained on night two by Mr. Crow
3. Mrs. Pigeon's potatoes are obtainable night three by Mr. Bat, thus unlocking white wine on day four
4. Mrs. Pheasant requires Mrs. Pigeon's wine, obtained only after killing her, but MUST be collected during the day before cooking pigeon breast, thus unlocks red wine.
5. Mr. Boar requires red wine collectable ONLY during the day phase before cooking Pheasant meat.

Deer, Rabbit, Pigeon, Pheasant, Boar is the correct order to get a perfect 3-star 5 course menu.

@Krylo You're right, the "Best Order" section is wrong. Although, on the main walkthrough, it's still right. I'll edit it ASAP though. Thanks for the heads-up!

Ok so to be clear, you should be able to obtain the white wine during the following DAY. This means you should NOT ask the chef to cook until you have first picked up the white wine ingredient. The guide says:

>Mrs. Pigeon's outside ingredient can only be obtained on the third night.

It will not appear at night. It can only be obtained on the third (or fourth?) day. The same is probably true for the red wine.

So you say to do Mrs Pigeon's room on the third night, meaning you would have to get her white wine on the fouth night, which you also suggest is not possible as you can only get the white wine on the third night.

Your 'best order' doesn't seem to work. I did this in the exact order you described and failed to get the white wine.

I'm really not a fan of extra puzzles that *must* be completed in sequence to get the extra bits. Realising I'd made a mistake (I missed the blackberries) killed my enthusiasm for completing the game :(
