A guide for a confusing, annoying and quite boring achievement.

Requirement/intro
Requirement: Start as a Japanese Daimyo, convert yourself and all of Japan to Christianity.

As I know, no DLC needed for this achievement, but The Cossacks DLC can be useful around the end game.

There is quite a big confusion about this achievement. Almost every player, forum user write different kind of things, opinions about how they got it/didn't get it, which can be veeeery confusing, so
I will try to make this guide simple, and give you as many information as possible.

Ideas, protecting your country
Until 1500-1550 you should be able to unite Japan - congrats, you got the The Chrysanthemum Throne achievement, yay.

After that you will have to wait around 100-150 years. Yes, it's terrible, I know - I almost finished a book while I was waiting - but no matter how hard it is to resist, do not, I repeat, do not expand on the main land!

Check the region map. Ryukyu and The kurils also belong to the Japanese region. The kurils have to be colonised and Ryukyu has to be conquered. Don't conquer Ryukyu until Japan's religion changed to catholic, because european countries can declare war on you, and even if you manage to fend them off of your main island, if they manage to siege Ryukyu, their war score will start to increase and they will demand insane amount of money from you...or land.

Ideas: I recommend to start with the Religious ideas, which will be handy when you have to convert your provinces to the catholic faith. Then choose Exploration, so that you can colonise The kurils. After that go for the Naval and for the Maritime ideas. After these I recommend the Defensive ideas.

Keep your navy always at its maximum capacity. It will be very useful if a european nation tries to attack you. You will either destroy their ships which are carrying units or they won't be able to throw so many units on your island you wouldn't be able to handle.
Keep in mind that almost the whole of Japan is surrounded by inland sea, so use a lot of galleys, and mix them with some light ships, so you can protect trade, but use a few heavy ships as well, and always have an admiral attached to your fleet. For me, this was a key element to reach my goal.
Events, national decisions
This achievement depends on events, and you can destroy everything by one single click (experience...). You have to be aware of what you want, and you have to be patient, which is the hardest part.

The legend says you will need to see the following three events in order to be on the right path toward the achievement, however I already got it before the third one popped up:

1.Nanban Boeki
2.Western Wrecked Ship
3.Kirishitan
Nanban Boeki
This is the most important event. You can't miss it, but you can undo it with a national decision, called The Sakoku Law. If you want to get the achievement, DO NOT CLICK ON THE SAKOKU LAW!
This event usually triggers around 1630-1650.

Trigger:

Primary culture is Japanese
Country is not Ryukyu
Has the global flag "japan_has_encountered_the_west"
Technology group is not Western - DO NOT WESTERNISE!
Does not have the country modifier "Sakoku Law"
Does not have the country flag "Sakoku Law"
Does not have the country flag "western_trade_flag"

After you got the western trade modifier, you will get random events, which will convert provinces to catholic. Even if you have the missionary strength, DO NOT convert these provinces back to shinto.

Western Wrecked Ship
Trigger:

Primary culture is Japanese
Has the country modifier "Western Trade"
Has had the country flag "western_trade_flag" for at least 2 months days
Is not in regency
Does not have the country flag "william_adams"
Has at least 1 ports

This event gives you 3 options. I went with the 1st one. It looks like this:
Immediate effects:

Sets the country flag "william_adams"
Option "Help the foreigners":

Changes stability by -1
Adds the ruler modifier "Western Wrecked Ship" until the ruler's death:
-10% technology cost
+5% better relations over time

Kirishitan
I got the achievement before this event fired for me, but let's have a look at it anyways.

Trigger:

Primary culture is Japanese
Does not follow the Catholic religion
Year is at least 1543
Any owned province:
Culture is Japanese
Follows the Catholic religion
Can spawn the Religious rebel type
Has the country flag "western_trade_flag"
Stability is lower than 1
Rebels - religion change
Soon after the Western Wrecked Ship a big stack of rebels showed up and started to siege my provinces, converting them to the catholic faith. DO NOT fight them! Get your army out of the way and let them convert your provinces. Be patient, let them enforce their demands, which will result in changing your country's faith to catholic. Once this happened, you are golden.

End game
After religion is changed, start to convert all your provinces to the catholic faith. Thanks to the religious ideas, which you have already aced, it won't be so hard. In the meantime conquer Ryukyu as we discussed in the beginning.
Check if there's any mission about changing religion to catholic in any of your provinces. Take it. It will give you some extra missionary strength for the next few years.
Also, if you have the The cossacks DLC, I recommend, that you assign the clergy to those provinces you want to convert, especially for those, which would take longer time to convert, because it will give some extra missionary strength as well.
Apology
Since English is not my native language, I wanted to apologise for any possible grammatical mistakes, but then I changed my mind, so I will not apologise.

Good luck! :)

I made it, thanks to your guide. Clear and simple.

Just one thing at the end.
I let the catholic rebels do their job, i put my armies away and waited, i did nothing. When the rebels won, they did NOT change my religion group, it was still shinto. And the rebel groups disappeared.

Hopefully, they repoped, and this time, when i could, i accepted their claims, and then my religion group changed.

Thank you Gyu, a really great guide ! :)

Hordow: Congrats!
Yes, you can build temples, trade buildings, and sometime invest some monarch points for development as well.
