How To Knife

This is a basic guide on how to knife on MW2, with class setups and different playstyles. You can learn the basics on how to succeed in knifing on mw2 here.

Basics Of Knifing

If you're playing in a lobby with other knifers, check the corners of spawntrap areas or maneuver off the logical path to go, as with more skilled people you'll get spawntrapped. In public lobbies, play more campy, and/or rush to a certain spot to watch it around the corner.

Classes for knifing :
Primary Weapon : Smg, fastest run speed.
Secondary : Pistol w/ a tac knife. No, akimbo isn't the same.
Lethal - Throwing knife.
Perks - Marathon Lighteight Commando, Or Lightweight Scavenger Commando if you're better with throwing knives, and the last way is Marathon lightweight ninja for those Snd matches with tubers.

Practice Methods - FFA - TDM for basic knifers. Once you can get 20-40 kills knifing move on to SND and clan leven knifing (Msg me for clan advice.)

TDM/FFA Strategy - Rush and play corner games, if you see someone just out of the corner of your eye and know they saw you, run to the next corner and turn directly around, they will come if they didn't think you saw them, pop goes the weasel, you got a kill.

Advanced Knifing

Classes are the same, except strategy's are different.

Crouch knifing - Increses lunge range a small amount farther, C+E works best here, Crouch - C Knife - E, you'll need to practice this alot to get it to a good level.

Snaking - Laying down and toggling crouch into the crouch knife, good for dodge levels but without practice it will get you killed, as you cannot lunge while laying down.

Don't Do's In Knifing - Jump, Jumping will kill your lunge from commando if you use it. Only jump if you're moving from place to place and that involves a jump, also giving away your position to soundwhore's.
Get Cocky - Don't get cocky unless you can back it up with serious skill, you'll lose.
Don't play domination - Self explanatory.
Don't rush in SND - You'll get propiped or sniped in 5 seconds rushing in Snd if you aren't skilled enough to do so.


Do's in knifing - Practice with tk's and practice knifing daily, It will help a lot.
Play with other knifers, 1v1 alot, it works on learning new strategy's and openings in yours so you can account for it.
Join a knifing clan - if you play large ffa clan battles knifing, you learn counters all the time you play it.

@Exploderizer, I can play at any ping, not giving myself extra credit, I'm good, thats it. with lower ping you can play a more aggressive playstyle, but with higher ping if you read your corners well and react fast, you can knife just as well, it's just playing more defensively than offensively.

Kniferunning is great if you've got the ping, but anyone with less than great latency will just fail. Like when I knife someone, I see the knife go out and nothing happens. One second later I die. That's the reality for those of us without best ping.

Knifing is one of the hardest skills yet people complain about it. I appreciate you still being an active knifer bladez. I only play SnD but I still knife, maybe you should add that you can also use a sniper rifle as primary since you wont be using your main gun anyways and its just as fast as smg and you get a ghillie with it. Which I just prefer. Maybe you could give me some advice on what to do when the enemy has UAV up, because that stuff always makes me choke up and die. Keep on living dat Knyfe lyfe.

Right now there is no way i can even get CLOSE to someone, let alone knife them! I'm new, but i am working on it.
