Launching a Local Network Server for Red Baron 3D
Note: These instructions are for hosting a game in a local network, or a virtual local network. If you wish to run an internet game, you must read through “How to set up a server.txt” help file located in Red Baron/Red Baron 3D/Server. This file provides a more in depth explanation of steps as well as some troubleshooting help. Running an online server can be tricky and requires various router and port settings. We recommend only advance users attempt to run an online server.

Head to your Red Baron 3D Server Folder.
  • Open Steam
  • Find “Red Baron” in your game list
  • Right click Red Baron and select “Properties”
  • Select the third tab, “Local Files”
  • Select the first option, “Browse Local Files…”
  • Open “Red Baron 3D” Folder
  • Open “Server” Folder
  • Once inside, find “rb2server.ini” and open with a text editor.
  • Read through the settings and change what you wish, most notably change the server description, which will change how the game is displayed in the available games list. The default is “Swordfish Island”
  • Save any changes you have made.
  • Find rb2server.exe and run it.
  • You may have to approve the server to run through firewalls.
Your Red Baron 3D server is now running and playable!

  • You will be taken to the server lobby screen. You may change teams, change aircraft, look at scores, chat, etc.
