Wigfrid: Character Survival Guide
Por Gonz008
Hey Guys, I've played a decent amount of time DST and I've started to really like Wigfrid and figured that she's actually pretty good and under appreciated due to her difficulty. Hopefully this guide will help you master the way!

Introduction
Welcome to my first and possibly last guide! A mildly-pleasing, average depth guide for Wigfrid, The Oscar-worthy Performance Artist! If you would like to know about one how to survive as the Best Warrior in game, then this guide is for you!

Feel free to leave feedback and/or rate it up/down!
Pros and Cons!
Wigfrid is the Ultimate Warrior. However even the great Achilles had a weakness.
Pros
  • Tank Passive! (takes 25% reduced damage with or without armor)
  • Offensive Passive! (25% Increased damage!)
  • Lifesteal!
  • Has easily The Best Offensive/Defensive Craftable Items early game!
  • High Health! (200 HP)
Cons
  • Carnivorous (can only eat meat, including meat)
  • Low sanity (120 Brainpowah)
  • Small Stomach (120 omnomns)
3 Ways To Play as The Almighty Warrior.
Base Building (Co-Op)
So you decided to play don't starve together with a fellow friend and decide to build a base together. There's a more in depth guide to set up a base on the Don't Starve Wiki [dont-starve-game.wikia.com]. Even though the guide is meant for single player it applies to multiplayer as well. However, the most people an early game base can support is 3 people. Any more and you have to split up into 2 camps otherwise your food and materials are going to run out. If you decide to go co op with a character you can check the compability section to make your game easier or harder accordingly (Work In Progress).

If you decide to camp with someone, your role will be to farm spider dens, gather materials from the swamp and go on great haunts for the Koalefant, Fish, Kill moleworms, Haunt the Stupid Walrus! Your main role is pretty much obtaining the most amount of meat, twigs and grass for camp. (grass and twigs are to be used for Mass Producing Jerky.)
  • Why should you do this intead of staying camp, tending the berry bushes/farms, go mining?
  • Because you're a warrior! you excel at combat! If Wilson were to go, he would actually take damage! whereas you rarely take damage! and you heal faster and cheaper than all the characters in game!

Solo Base
Ah so you decided to brave the trolls, griefers and other players and see how long you can last with the rest of the world going mad. The pros are, with wigfrid its easy to survive on your own. In pvp servers the fool that tries to mess with you is the fool to die. In regular world you can kill spider dens with ease and loose maybe 1 hp and you can be pretty self sefficient as you heal easily. Therefore she is pretty well reliant.

Needless to say, finding a good spot to make a base is top priority as using a crockpot and starting the jerky farm needs to be done asap. I have found it to be relatively easy to set up a base in the middle of the desert. Preferably the desert without the firefly or far enough from her, but close enough to a spider nest or ponds.
However, wherever you decide to set up camp, make sure you are near:
  • A Constant meat source (Active thru winter. Rabbit Holes Close during Spring)
  • Near a renewable Filler (more on this later)

Nomad
Ah the life of the dromedary Camel. This can be quite a challenging lifestyle for wigfrid. Here's a really great guide from a great DST player to teach you how to play Nomadicly. One tip I should mention is that if you're running low on meat, cooked Monster Meat can be used as an emergency food source. Due to the fact that the aformentioned guide is so thurough on playing nomadicly, this guide will not go into much detail about living nomadicly as Wigfrid unless enough people want it so.
First Days.
The First 5-10 days (Wether your Strategy to play her is Co-op or Solo) are going to be spent exploring the world trying to find a suitable location to camp, gathering resources. As long as you can set up camp 5 days before winter you should be fine, but due to her meat consumption, the earlier you set up, the quicker you can set a Crockpot and use those stinkingly gross berries.

One of the best things about Wigfrid is that she doesn't need an alchemy machine early on (no real need for farms). So as long as you have all the requirements to build one or 2 Science Machines, you should really be focusing on exploring to find a suitable location. The first Science Machine you build should be early on (by day 3), prototyped (Definately build a Backpack, some rope, a fishing rod, maybe build a Shovel), and destroyed to save materials.

Gathering Resources

Food

Due to the fact you're a Carnivore, Berries, Carrots and Shrooms, don't do much for you. However, you should still gather 6-10 berries as they provide filler for crockpot recipies,(more on fillers later). If you have a shovel, (25 uses) just dig 10 Berry bushes out and keep them. If you're deciding to build a Co-op Base, definately gather 20 Berry Bushes. You'll need them as fillers for after winter.

Moleworms are the easiest way to get Morsels. just drop some rock, flint or gold on the ground near a Burrow, and smack the living crap out of a moleworm once he pops up. If you stumble into the swamp, you can collect many of the frog legs/ fish/monster meat dropped by the never ending battle between Merms, Tentacles, and Spider Dens.

Ponds are also a great way to acquire meat. Not only do they provide a renewable source of frog legs, but during dusk time and night time they provide fish by using a fishing rod. During the daytime you could fish in the swamp ponds (as they don't produce mosquitos during daytime) and during nightime you may fish in the grassland ponds. Keep in mind that if you decide to attack frogs, all the frogs in the vicinity will flock to attack you. You can use the frog legs to make frog bunwiches. Both frog legs and Fish could be used to produce small jerky.

if you're running low on meat, cooked Monster Meat can be used as an emergency food source

Materials
As you're exploring you should prioritize grass, twigs, silk, charcoal over anything besides meat(meat is priority as you're exploring). Gold is an issue, but after setting up your camp you may go back and grab it.
Setting Up Camp
So you've finally decided to Settle down and camp. Hopefully you're not starving, you have enough materials for a drying rack, science machine, and a campfire. As mentioned before, the area you pick should have a renewable filler, or enough meat that you won't need a filler. As a once wise internet (Don't Starve Wiki[dont-starve-game.wikia.com]) said to me, a filler can be described as:

"Some recipes call for less than four specific ingredients, but the Crock Pot always requires four items to cook. In this case, the remaining slots can be filled with "filler" ingredients."

I'm not going to go into much detail about the fillers according to recipies, since in my opinion, Fish sticks and Meatballs are the only ones required for Wigfrid to know. (Recipies Are WiP).

Location, Location, Location...

The Biome of where you set up is irrelevant, as long as you find the what I have mentioned about. However I would reccomend for Solo Wigfrid Players to Set up in the Barren desert...

Why am I deciding to camp in the barren desert?
The dessert what a Wonderful place! It is home to:
  • Cactus
  • Tumbleweeds
  • Rocks.
  • Hounds/Goats
  • Some Deserts have nearby meadows with ponds.

During the Winter Wigfrid can use the cactus intead of berries to make meatballs. Due to Wigfrid's Tanky Passive and her helmet, she won't loose any health when using the cactus for a meatball recipe. When playing by yourself the amount of cactus in the desert is enough to sustain you thru winter as long as you can obtain the meat from spider dens. If you have sufficient meat, pack a meatball or two and go explore. The Recipe for making meatballs is 3 cactus, 1 meat. From the tumbleweeds you can obtain grass twigs and items to feed the goldpig for gold. If you're playing Wigfrid, gold is Important due to the fact that your spear requires gold (x2) and your Helmet also requires gold (x2)
Trouble With Wigfrid? Try These Solutions!
Help, I'm running low on sanity!
  • Since you can't eat mushrooms and you already start with low sanity, you can eat Jerky.
  • Small Jerky restores 8 Health, 12.5 Hunger and 10 sanity,
  • Regular sized jerky restores 20 Health, 25 hunger and 15 Sanity
  • Monster jerky hurts both your sanity and health by 3 and fills 18 hunger.
  • Crockpot Recipies restore 5 Sanity
  • if you can find Glommer, he can give you a massive sanity restoration, even during the night.
  • killing spiders restores part of your sanity
  • killing Shadow creatures restores 33 sanity.

I can't get my sanity up. What do i do?
FIGHT THE SHADOW CREATURES, jut make sure you have your helmet and your spear equipped.

I'm low on health, but I dont have any Jerky Nearby. WHAT TO DO?
Beat Spiders up, one by one, 2 hits and theyre RIP.

I'm low on food. HOW DO I GET MORE MEAT ASAP?
Molehunting is great. if you see a burrow, drop some rocks on the ground, and shortly a mole will try to steal it. as soon as he pops up NAIL him in the face. Killing spiders for Monster meat is also a great idea.

I Want to hunt Buzzards in the desert!
Drop some drop some meat nearby their circling shadows during day/dusk, (during Nightime they're not active) once one lands and tries to peck the food. SLAM DUNK his ass to the grave.

I need Help with Crockpot recipies. WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
it should be noted that using more than 1 monster meat/Durian will produce Monster Lasagna

at least 1 meat and 3 Fillers. Only ln this recipe, other meats such as morsels, froglegs, etc. can be used as fillers (but not more than one monster meat. Meatballs restore: 3HP, 62.5 Hunger, and 5 Sanity. TL;DR Hunger Restoring Food

1 Fish, 1Stick and 2 Filler. Fishsticks restore: 40HP, 37.5 Hunger and 5 Sanity. TL;DR Healing food

1 Frog leg, 1 Vegetable, and 2 Fillers. Froggle Bunwich restores 20HP, 37.5 Hunger and 5 Sanity TL;DR Poor man's Fishsticks

List of Fillers include:
  • Ice
  • Cactus
  • Berries
  • vegetables

If you like the guide, comment or favourite. If you want me to write a guide for other characters. Let me know (just comment). I've played with every character except for wes.

Feel free to leave information on how you wish for me to improve the guided.

Thinking about hosting your own server but have a crappy Computer?
I use these dedicated servers, simply Copy and paste the link into your browser, I believe its $16 per month for a 6 slot server

she is kinda the same as wolfgang:
both of them have higher damage
both have 200 hp(at normal form)
wigfrid-low sanity+small stomach wolfgang-faster sanity and hunger drain
wolfgang can eat mushrooms and that is better than wigfrid that can restore sanity when fighting
wigfrid can craft the helmet and spear but the spear is becoming useless when you gat tentacle spike and her helmet is almost the same as normal helmet
wolfgang have higher damage then wigfrid when in mighty form
i think that wolfgang is better

Is it a troll guide btw? Wigfrid is like the easiest character after Wx78 when he gets gears.

I thought so, thank you for the clarification :DSTskull:

She was changed in DST, She doesn't need to kill things to gain sanity/hp, she just has to continiously hit them. I believe that was changed due to killing large monsters wouldn't give her her HP/sanity back if a different player dealt the killing blow
Tamero_kun 9 FEB 2017 a las 6:26 p. m.
Was she changed in DST? I thought she gained sainty and health from kill enemies not lifestealing. Was it due to the aspect of other players interfering with that benifit? I would like to know
