Stormtroopers
These are some of the most basic enemies you will encounter (aside from maybe mercenaries). Easily killed, but effective in number, stormtroopers pose little threat to you, and are susceptible to basically all attacks. They make up the ranks of the Imperial army, and come in various styles. The classes you will run into are:
Stormtrooper/snowtrooper (regular white armor, carrying E-11 blaster rifle)
Special stormtrooper (identified by orange pauldron and either flechette gun, heavy repeater, or missile launcher)
TIE pilot (stormtrooper wearing black armor with pistol)
Hazard troopers (heavy armor, concussion launcher)
Jet troopers (heavy armor, jetpacks, heavy repeater)
Although varied, stormtroopers are extremely easy to kill. Most can be killed without the use of any Force powers. Jet troopers are a bit more difficult to kill. However, all the other classes of stormtroopers are pushovers.
Their combat style generally consists of either standing still and shooting, or strafing. Their movements are extremely easy to predict, and they do not pose much of a threat except in large numbers, where their lack of effectiveness is somewhat countered by the amount of lasers they can produce.
You will find these enemies pretty much anywhere. They drop the E-11 blaster rifle, a common pickup. The only thing they are fun for is slaughtering on Hoth with the gatling gun.
Difficulty: low/moderate.
Mercenaries
Though varied by race, mercenaries are common footsoldiers. Similar to stormtroopers, they are very common enemies. They come in the forms of:
Humans (man wearing brown armor, generally carrying E-11 blaster rifle)
Weequay (leathery-skinned humanoids, usually carrying bowcasters)
Gran (three-eyed aliens. Generally use grenades, fists, or E-11)
Rodian (green-skinned, carrying either E-11s or Disruptor rifles)
Trandoshians (lizard-like creatures, usually armed with Heavy repeater or E-11)
(I was going to insert the Chiss in here, but they only show up as harmless bartenders.)
Diverse in race and weaponry, these soldiers of fortune offer little resistance to your vast arsenal. They are easily killed, and are very susceptible to Force techniques. The rodians are generally harder to fight, because they are generally snipers. Most enemies in Jedi Academy drop whatever weapon they were using as loot when killed (except Sith, officers, and some others), so depending on the mercenary you kill, you may recieve a different common weapon.
Difficulty: low
Imperials
Forming the backbone of Imperial command, officers and captains are occasionally found throughout the levels of Jedi Academt, usually harboring a key or passcode for that locked door. They are generally easy to slay, often requiring a simple lightsaber slash or spray of Force lightning to defeat. Officers will occasionally drop security cards that allow access to locked doors. They drop no weapons or ammo, and utilize a single pistol in combat.
Difficulty: wimp

Imperial Sabotours are nasty buggers. Harboring a stealth system, and firing a single pistol, these men are similar to officers in many ways. However, they are offhand a little more difficult to slay. I don't know why, but occasionally you will have to slash more then once to slay one of them. They are generally located in dark or strategic areas, while in stealth. You will encounter a lot of them on the Bakura mission, and more dotted throughout the game. However, these men generally appear in groups of 1-2. They do not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: amatuer.

Sith (bum-bum-buuuuum)
The arch-nemises of the Jedi, Sith wield lightsabers and Force techniques for their own advancement. In Star Wars lore, Sith are extremely racist, so any you find will be human. They vary based on skill set and difficulty, so more difficult Sith are easily discernable:
Reborn acolyte (orange robes, single red lightsaber)
Reborn Adept (green robes, wields either Force techniques or E-11 blaster)
Novice Reborn (red armor, and either dual sabers, or saberstaff)
Novice Reborn Adept (red robes, Force powers)
Reborn Master (blue-red armor, generally wields dual lightsabers)
These Sith are probably the most challenging foes you will encounter in Jedi Academy. The first few classes are not that hard to defeat, but as you progress through levels, more skilled enemies appear. Sith do not drop any collectables.
Difficulty: wimp/amatuer/deadly

Animals/natives
Wildlife can be harmless, fuzzy steeds, or giant carnivorous creatures. Either way, it is best to be aware of them and their potential assets or strategies.
Ton Ton/Tauntaun: (Image coming!) these two-legged steeds are used by Rebel forces on the planet Hoth in the Star Wars movies. They are insulated against the cold of their home planets, and are not aggressive animals. They are usable as mounts in Jedi Academy.

Howlers: native to Yavin IV, howlers are lizards. Posing miniscule threats, they can tear with their claws, and release piercing sound blasts to keep you away.
Howlers should barely be considered enemies. They pose little threat whatsoever, and are easily killed with any weapon. Their sonic blast move can be countered by standing at a distance and hitting them by throwing your lightsaber. Does not drop any loot when killed
Difficulty: Worthless

Wampa: (Image coming!) Another native to Hoth, Wampas are fierce predators. The wampa walks on two legs, and dashes on all fours. Furry white creatures, they generally reside in caves, preying on Tauntauns and any unlucky travelers they come across.
Wampas are not all that hard to kill: just dash in and spam it with lightsaber attacks. It can grab you and smack you around. There is more then one Wampa in the Hoth levels in Jedi Academy. These creatures do not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: wimp

Rancor: (Watch Episode VI) native hunters of Dathomeer, rancors are incredibly vicious predators. Brown skin protects them from the weather. They are towering monsters, standing on two legs, with long arms and strong jaws. You encounter a few rancor variants throughout Jedi Academy. Most rancors take some time to kill, and if you fight fairly, take a lot of your health with them. Rancors are generally harder to fight then Wampas. Does not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: amatuer/deadly

Jawa: (Watch Episode IV) dwarfish creatures wrapped in brown robes, Jawas make a living as scavangers on Tatooine. They are shifty traders, and generally left alone by the populace of Tatooine. However, if they come under fire, these little creatures offer little resistance.
Jawas are encountered in various areas throughout Jedi Academy, and pose no threat. They are neutral NPCs, that you can kill if you want, or leave alone. Does not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: worthless

Tusken Raider: (Again, Episode IV) wrapped from head to toe in heavy padding and masks to protect them from the harsh Tatooine suns, Tusken Raiders are the bandits of Tatooine. They are hostile creatures, wielding metal pole weapons known as Gaffi sticks, or sniper rifles. They generally storm their targets in groups, fighting fiercely. However, against a lightsaber, they fall quickly.
Tusken raiders are only encountered on the Tatooine level. They are easily killed, but are fast opponents. Their snipers are particularly accurate, and pose decent threats, firing from unusual positions. However, they are still easy to slay, and do not pose much of a threat. Does not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: wimp

Noghri: Noghri are famous for their assassins, who were hand-hired by Darth Vader himself. They are extremely capable fighters. Deadly and accurate, these natives pose a greater threat then most indigenous enemies.
Noghri generally wield guns that shoot poison globs, that expand slightly upon contact with any surface. They are fairly challenging in groups, firing multiple clouds of choking poison that can block corridors. At close range, however, they are fairly vulnerable. Does not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: amatuer

Bosses
WARNING! CONTAINS MASSIVE SPOILERS! DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE BEATEN JEDI ACADEMY BEFORE, OR HAVE BEATEN THE BOSS!

Ranged, melee, support--no matter what, Jedi Academy has it. Bosses of various skills and abilites are stuck throughout Jedi Academy, and pose unique challenges in different environments. These bosses are varied and difficult.

Alara: A female twi'lek, Alara is the apprentice of the end boss, Tavion. She wields a single lightsaber and is extremely effective. You encounter her twice, once on Hoth and once on Taspir.
Alara is hard to fight at first, and even harder later. She will be very challenging. Alara does not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: Deadly

Mutant Rancor: (I guess this is considered a boss). This creature, found on the Tanaab map, is the driving force behind the level. Weaknesses? None. Killable? No. All you can do is run from it, and eventually flip a switch that activates the thingie that kills the rancor (descriptive right? :P). This boss is difficult mainly because it is impervious to all attacks. It can vomit green acidic vapor, and slashed with its hands. Funny to watch it trample and squish all da lickle Sithies! Avoid this boss as much as possible throughout the level. Is killed in cinematic, so no loot :(
Difficulty: Deadly

Rax Joris: AUGH! I HATE THIS GUY! >:(
Rax is found in the level where you investigate Cult activity. He wields a concussion rifle, and stands at the top of a several-level arena. You must learn to maneuver through each level while avoiding his shots, until you reach his level, where killing him is a bit harder then usual. The main issue with this boss is getting to him. Drops your lightsaber when killed.
Difficulty: A** hole.

Boba Fett (WHAT!?): The renown bounty hunter is back--and he's trying to murder you! Boba is a fancy boss. He likes surprise attacks and has been known to sit on a ledge in the level, sniping at you. He can fly thanks to his jet packs, and utilizes a flamethrower for anti-lightsaber combat, as well as a rocket launcher and a blaster. Constant movement and shooting will bring this boss down! Cinematic defeat. Drops nothing when defeated.
Difficulty: A timeless classic. (so, probably deadly ;-P).

Rosh Penin: Betrayed! Your previous friend and fellow academy student Rosh Penin has gone to the Dark Side. You discover the truth on Taspir, where you must then fight Rosh. He is hard to fight, utilizing both Force buffs and impressive lightsaber manipulation. He also has two guards that will empower him. They are very agile, and will attack if you go after them. They are vulnerable when healing Rosh, however. Does not drop any loot when defeated, cause you don't kill him.
Circle strafing and column-hiding recommended!
Difficulty: Amatuer

Tavion: Notable for her skimpy clothing, Tavion is optionally the end boss. You confront her on Korriban, the Sith homeworld, where she is trying to resurrect the spirit of an ancient Sith Lord (for those of you fellow nerds out there, the Sith is Marka Ragnos) to help the Reborn cult take over. She wields her lightsaber and Ragnos' scepter before her first defeat, and when she is possessed (light-side ending) she wields Ragnos' sword (a sword! o.O) which acts similar to a lightsaber, with a few different attacks. Dark side ending entails you only defeating her once, to save more HP for the final, FINAL boss, if you do Dark side ending. Does not drop any loot when killed.
Difficulty: Deadly

Kyle Katarn: (0_0)
One word: !&@#. Kyle Katarn is scary. He employs grapples, as well as lightsaber and Force combat, and possesses light side abilities, so he will heal himself. This boss is (from my experience) nearly impossible to kill without the use of cheats. If you do defeat him, congrats--you are now a pro. Does not drop any loot when defeated (cause you just drop a pile of rocks on his head and leave O.o)
Difficulty: Wait, what!? NO! How did you--! you @&#$@&$*%*@!&*#~!*$^$%@!!!!!!!!!!

Conclusion (aww)
So, there you have it--all those anoyamous bumblers in a nutshell. I have alarge suspicion that I missed some things, so please let me know if you find something I skipped :)
Any combat suggestions were based on my own experiences playing this game. I am a very skilled PC player, but even I had a decent bit of trouble with some of these guys (*stares at Rax and Kyle*) and it took me a while to figure out some competant counter techniques.
If you have a preferred means of killing any of these enemies, please tell me in the comments! I'm always open to new stormtrooper-killing methods, and some of you out there probably have a bunch of different methods I haven't even thought about.
As always, I hope you enjoyed (cause I did!) and may the Force be with you!

Awesome! I agree, using Force Speed is really handy against those guys. I always manage to forget something. Thanks for bringing that to light! :steamhappy:

One of the best/easiest ways to kill any Jedi/Sith/force-weilding enemy in Jedi Academy is using force speed 3 right before attacking. It slows everything else around you and you move so fast you can dash up any Sith before they get a chance to block. Used it on all the bosses - (Tavion felt so weak compared to Rosh and Alara) and it worked wonderfully.

Funny and descriptive.:steamhappy:
