List: Effective production towns by good

This is a list of all locations where goods can be produced effectively.

Introduction

This Patrician 3 standard map guide lists all goods and where those goods can be best produced. It also mentions which towns get automatic import of goods (e.g. spices).
Please note that some campaigns/scenarios may not use the standard map.

Beer

Beer is best produced in:

• London
  
• Bremen
  
• Hamburg
  
• Scarborough
  
• Stettin
  
• Gdansk
  
• Novgorod

Hamburg, Stettin and Gdansk also have effective production of grain and Novogorod of timber; both are needed for beer production.

Bricks

Bricks are best produced in:

• Groningen
  
• Bremen
  
• Ripen
  
• Oslo
  
• Lübeck

Groningen and Oslo also have effective production of timber. Timber is needed for brick production.

Cloth

Cloth is best produced in:

• London
  
• Bremen
  
• Scarborough
  
• Edinburgh
  
• Malmö
  
• Visby

London, Scarborough, Malmö and Visby also have effective production of wool. Wool is needed for cloth production.

Fish

Fish is best produced in:

• Hamburg
  
• Edinburgh

• Stettin
  
• Riga
  
• Ladoga

Stettin and Riga also have effective salt production, while Hamburg and Lübeck receive periodic salt imports. Hamburg, Stettin and Ladoga also have effective hemp production. Salt and hemp are needed for fish production.

Stockholm also has effective timber and pig iron production, Scarborough only effective timber production. Pig iron and timber are needed for iron goods production.

Meat & Leather

Meat & Leather are best produced in:

• Torun
  
• Novgorod

Aalborg, Torun and Novgorod also have effective production of timber. Together with salt, timber is needed for Meat & Leather production.

Pig Iron

Pig Iron is best produced in:

• Stockholm
  
• Ladoga

Pitch

Pitch is best produced in:

• Bergen
  
• Oslo
  
• Lübeck
  
• Gdansk

Oslo and Novgorod also have effective timber production. Timber is needed for pitch production.

Pottery

Pottery is best produced in:

• Brugge
  
• Köln

Torun also has effective timber production. Timber is needed for production of pottery.

Salt

Salt is best produced in:

• Brugge
  
• Ripen
  
• Rostock
  
• Stettin

• Reval

None of these has effective timber production, but Ripen, Stettin and Riga have low timber production. Timber is needed for salt production.

Groningen, Hamburg and Lübeck also receive periodic salt imports without being able to produce it themselves.

Skins

Skins (furs) are best produced in:

• Riga
  
• Reval
  
• Ladoga
  
• Novgorod

Reval also has effective iron goods production, Ladoga has effective hemp production. Iron goods and a little bit of hemp are needed for skins production.

The following towns also receive periodic skins imports, but can't produce them:

• Bergen
  
• Oslo
  
• Malmö

Spices

Spices are not produced in Europe. However, these towns receive periodic spice imports:

• London
  
• Brugge
  
• Cologne
  
• Groningen
  
• Bremen
  
• Hamburg

Timber

Timber is best produced in:

• Oslo
  
• Aalborg
  
• Torun

Whale Oil

Whale Oil is best produced in:
Ripen
Bergen
Oslo
Aalborg
Stockholm

Note that fisheries in whale oil towns also produce some fish (more than low production) together with the whale oil.

Ripen also has effective salt production. Salt and hemp are needed for whale oil production.

Wine

Wine is only produced in Cologne (effective) and Groningen (low).

However, London, Brügge and Lübeck also receive periodic wine imports.

Wool

Wool is best produced in:

Since I like to have everything in front of me I made a diagram of the whole production line by following this guide and the Patrician III Wiki.
I used the English names of the cities.

Could be. Your guide is perfect otherwise, and quite helpful if you're a noob to P3. I cannot account for this error, I can only report what I know for sure from playing the game for over 1000 hours.

That's strange, because I took this directly from the map editor, so this is how it's set up in the game. If imports actually happen differently, then that's a bug.

I'm using a standard map and have played 1000 plus hours. Bremen and Hamburg never receive Spice imports, which I know because I have started games in both towns using the standard map. Scarborough is my favourite place for Spice hunting and it's not on your list.

Maybe you're referring to a different map? In the default map, the listed cities all have spice imports set up.

Spices only turn up in London, Bruges, Scarborough, Cologne and Groningen. Never in Hamburg or Bremen.
