This guide will detail how to unlock each and every ending. There are multiple routes to these endings, so these are just the ones I found. This will also get you a fair amount of the achievements recently added.

Whodunit?! Oh, wait, I did.

The Deed is an interesting, albeit incredibly short, murder mystery game. You play as Arran Bruce, 'black sheep' of the Bruce family traveling home for your father's fiftieth birthday. You've uncovered some information that your father Malcom wishes to completely disown you, and will rewrite his will to leave everything to your sister Jennifer.

What makes this game unique isn't the mystery; you're the killer. What sets it apart is that you must determine the best way to not only kill your sister, but leave evidence to throw the police off your trail after 'The Deed' is done.

Personally, I found this game to be a little too short the first time playing, but once I realized there were multiple endings, its value and fun factor increased quite a bit to the point where I wanted to write a guide giving guidance to all the endings of the game. Even though this is an RPGMaker game, don't let that stigma prevent you from enjoying it. It is well crafted, and certainly well worth the price.

NOTE: Since I'm doing this all on my own with no outside help, this guide may be incomplete. I will update with any new information or endings that are uncovered.

Also, there are obviously going to be spoilers in this guide. I mean, it's how to get all the endings after all.
Some Things to Remember...

After the deed is done, there is an Interview phase when the Inspector takes you aside and questions you on your activities of the night. REMEMBER EVERYTHING. I was actually surprised by the level the developer went to in this phase, and everything can come into play, especially if you're lying.

If you do any of the following, suspicion will be thrown into your court, and it will be harder to play the part of innocent grieving brother.

  • Telling the Maid the truth about your family will always be brought up in the Interview. Just tell her you've been busy, whether or not she takes your coat.
  • Lying during the interview. This one is pretty obvious, but if you lie at all it throws shade on your character and can very easily place you under arrest.
  • Playing Conversations correctly. There’s enough dialog to have some fun with the game, but if you act too crass, get too angry, or are too handsy with the maid...then even if you pick the right items everything will just come crashing down.
  • Get rid of the evidence. If you’re caught with anything on your person, then you’re obviously going to go down.

The key is to not only do the deed and plant evidence, but to remember to act as unsuspicious as possible.
Suicide
So far I've found two main ways of getting the police to think your Sister offed herself, and thus have no one take the fall.

  • When you first arrive, have the maid take your coat, and answer all her questions politely and avoid any that make it seem there are issues between you and your family.
  • Go to the Parlor immediately to your right (bottom of the game screen) and speak with your mother first. If you pick Make Amends, she won't believe you and neither will the Inspector. Play it dumb and pick the option of 'Whatever do you mean?'. Show concern for your sister. This is where you learn she attempted suicide once before...interesting.
  • After speaking with Mom, go to the door opposite the hall and enter your Father's Library.
  • DON'T BRING UP THE INHERITANCE. It gives you motive.
  • Pick the well wishing for his birthday, and then the live your own life choices. End the conversation by taking the high road, and ending the conversation since he can't be civil.
  • Now we head up to sister's room. Go up the stairs and head down the hall. Her's is the first door of the two.
  • Holy crap that's a lot of mirrors.
  • It really doesn't matter what you say here, but I err'd on the side of caution and picked the more cautious and concerned options.
  • DO NOT TALK TO THE SERVANTS. This throws more suspicion on you, as you're not really supposed to be snooping about, even if it is your house.
  • Go back downstairs and head into the kitchen. The door is right next to the dining room. Don't go in and talk to the maid, but grab the rat poison from the shelf in the first room, and head back out.
  • Enter the Drawing Room (just below the Dining room) and go to the desk. Inside is a series of love poems your sister has written about the maid. Take one and the dinner bell rings.
  • At dinner, stand up for George and apologize for speaking out of turn, and refuse desert.
  • After dinner, the time to strike is nigh. Head directly into the Drawing Room where Jennifer is and select the poem from your inventory (hit Esc to bring up the menu). Place the evidence and then go speak with your sister. Use the Rat poison and then you have twenty seconds to go find a place to wait for the body to be found. Head back upstairs and into the room down a little further from your sister's. This is the guest room and your old bedroom. (Honestly you can also go to either room with your parents as well...I got the same results. Just be honest with the police.)
  • Now the Police are here and they are doing interviews. Pick the following options: Bring up your sister's suicide attempt, your father's temper, and the fact you have a life elsewhere. Be truthful about speaking with your sister before dinner, and bring up her illness and obsessions. Bring up the fact you stood up for the servants, and be sure to tell him where your location was (Upstairs, Your Old Bedroom).
  • Get away with Murder...but at what cost?
...No One Did It...?
I'll assume you've already read the section for Suicide and know some basic things and will only point out the differences.

  • Talk to, and respond to, everyone as listed in the Suicide section.
  • Upstairs after you speak with your sister, inspect her wardrobe. Inside you'll find a skimpy pair of her panties. Take them (CREEP)
  • Enter the Storage Room leading to the basement and take the rope from the cupboard.
  • Deal with Dinner in the same fashion.
  • After dinner, head downstairs to the basement. There are two doors, and the one on the right is George's. Plant the underwear in his room.
  • Head back upstairs and kill your sister with the rope.
  • Now, however, you only have 10 seconds to get to a safe spot. You actually have more than enough time to head back to your room, or you can go to the Parlour with your mother.
  • Instead of bringing up your sister's suicide, instead say how you're concerned for your mother.

The inspector will suspect the Butler, but in the epilogue, there won't be enough evidence. Your father had his doubts about your innocence, and years later at his death you find he left everything to a trust, and you still get nothing.

Yay for having committed murder for nothing! :D

NOTE: There may be several other ways to achieve this ending, but this is the one I found.
The Butler Did It!
  • DON'T TALK TO ANYONE! Seriously.
  • Take the rope as the weapon, and the underwear from your sister as evidence.
  • At dinner, accuse George of being a horny old goat, tell your dad not to lose his temper, and no dessert.
  • After dinner take the underwear to George's room and plant it, then go kill your sister with a rope.
  • This time, head to the Parlour with your mother.
  • Be truthful about not talking to anyone, including your sister.
  • Admit you made the accusation about George and back it up, say your father always loses his temper, and tell you were with your mother.

Good job, you framed the only good person in that whole damned house.
That Mynx of a Maid Did It!
That harlot!

  • Again, we're assuming you let her take your coat and spoke to everyone in a friendly concerned manner.
  • For evidence, go grab the poem from the drawing room and head downstairs to the servants quarters. The room on the left is the maid's, and inside is a broken mirror. Go take a shard.
  • At dinner stick up for George and apologize, and bring attention to your sister's actions by accusing her of flirting.
  • Plant the poem in the maid's room and go kill your sister with the mirror. Head to the Parlour with your mother. You have 10 seconds.
  • Say you were concerned about your mother, dad has a temper, you stood up for the butler, etc.
  • Accuse your sister and the maid of living in sin.

That'll teach them to love outside of God's Plan!
Mother? OH GOD MOTHER!!

  • After doing the usual talking spree with the family, go downstairs and speak with George.
  • Be concerned about him, and then ask him about your mother.
  • Now, head to the Kitchen and speak with the maid. Ask her about her time there and specifically about your mother.
  • After that, head to the Parlour and grab your mother's diary. Then, head to the dining room and take the candle from the table.
  • At dinner play Mister Nice Guy...Stick up for george, apologize, no dessert, etc etc.
  • Plant the diary pages in the master bedroom (first door at the top of the stairs) and then go kill your sister. This time, head to the library with your father.
  • During the interview, say the reason you went to see the maid again was to see if your family was treating her well. When asking of the conversation with your mother, bring up your concern for her, and then the usual stuff for the one about your father (always had a temper, my own life, etc).
  • When he brings up your conversation with George, say he was worried about her.
  • Say you spoke to your sister about her illness.

Congrats, you put mom in prison. You monster!

Dear Old Dad...
Of these, I feel the father is the only one deserving of being framed.

  • While it will draw suspicion, you NEED your coat for this one. Refuse to have the maid take it.
  • There is no explicit need to speak with the maid or the butler, but if you do only speak with the maid; just ask the questions that imply concern over their treatment of her and make sure you remember to mention this to the inspector at the end. However, I got this ending WITHOUT talking to her or George.
  • Speak to your father, only after wishing him a happy birthday, say you refuse to move back to suffer more abuse, and that you remember the beatings.
  • Go to mom and tell her they all deserve trouble, but ask how your sister is.
  • Go see sis, say mostly anything you want. I went the 'are you ok?' and 'collection' route.
  • Inspect the mirror in the hallway outside your sister's room.
  • Grab the shotgun from the desk in the Master Bedroom.
  • Inspect the chair in the Master Bedroom.
  • Head downstairs and inspect the trophy case in the Drawing Room.
  • Go back to the library and grab the leather Tawse from the desk.
  • At dinner, stick up for George, tell dad not to lose his temper, and then no dessert.
  • After dinner plant the Tawse in the Drawing Room and then SAVE YOUR GAME. You have THREE seconds to make your escape and if you're too slow the maid will see you and that makes everything for naught. If you are quick you can be upstairs. Instead of moving to the front of the stairway, move to the side and you'll go up and remain unnoticed. The stairs can be a fun challenge, but a more logical solution has been suggested twice now. Head into the storage room with George who will ask if you heard anything.
  • At the interview, answer exactly like this:
I wasn't sure how long I would be staying.
We were worried my sister might attempt suicide.
My father always had a temper.
Of course, I have already made a life elsewhere.
    Yes I did.
We discussed her illness and her obsessions.
My family always treat the servants poorly.
Just the usual. He always loses his temper.
  • Finally, say you were in the storage room with George, who backs up your story.

    SCREW YOU DAD!

Now, the odd thing...I did NOT place the evidence correctly, as the Inspector mentioned he found nothing to incriminate anyone and that only happens when you place evidence in the wrong spot. However, this was the ONLY scenario that he told me he didn't suspect me whatsoever, and that my father would be arrested. In another playthrough I got close and we were both arrested, and I eventually paid for the crime.
Ya got me, Copper
This is if you're feeling particularly guilty about what you've done. If you wish to get caught simply:

  • Flirt the CRAP out of the maid. If you're going to go to prison, may as well try and get some before ya go. But be careful: I found a game breaking bug (hopefully it will be fixed soon) that freezes the game if you tell her she likes the attention. NO MEANS NO, ARRAN. This has been fixed. Flirt away you pervs!
  • Go Accuse George of wanting the maid for himself.
  • Go to dad and bring up the inheritance.
  • Go to mom and brush off your sister as crazy.
  • Go and grab the underwear as evidence, and then any weapon.
  • Act rude and beligerant at dinner.
  • Keep the evidence on you, and stay in the room after the murder. I used my bare hands. Gives you only three seconds. She was a fighter!
  • Lie through your teeth at the interview. Have fun with it! I was a violent man who liked to wear women's undergarments.

You've killed your sister and didn't even get away with it. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Closing Thoughts
The game was short, no doubt, but the fact it had multiple endings and a very in-depth conversation system (along with several interesting branches in said system) made this a very fun and engaging title to play. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys puzzles.

One thing I particularly enjoyed about the title was the fact that no ending was a ‘good’ ending. Even when you got off scot-free you still were haunted by your sins and would never find or know real peace again. If there’s a way to finish the game without killing your sister it’s a mystery to me, but could be good for a potential future update.

Awesome game, and I look forward to more from this developer.

EDIT: Since achievements have been added to the game you can get most of them following this guide. The remaining achievements for certain murder weapons can be obtained by grabbing two weapons on a playthrough and saving just before killing your sister. The achievement will pop and you can hit F12 to restart and load the save to use the next weapon. Do this until you have all achievements.

You actually "plant" the Tawse on your person by not putting it anywhere. The inspector discovers it, and questions you. You lie that you were going to bring it home and burn it, as you've been scarred for life by your father's beatings. Though spankings weren't exactly out of the ordinary in this setting, it does establish the fact that your father has a history of harming his own children...

By wanting to do a very fast KNIFE kill achievement I found out by mistake an extremely short walkthrough for the NO ONE did it.
1. Give the maid the jacket and the nice lines
2. Don't speak to anyone else, just go directly and grab the KNIFE and MOTHER DIARY
3. During dinner do it the old fashion.
4. Plant diary directly in the room with your sister(drawing room i think it's called) and then kill her with the knife.
5. Go to parlour and the interview just tell all the truths, and they will suspect your mother but there won't be enough evidence.
