How to Fix Flying Blocks
By Mondae Sundae
Pick up block. Place block. Block decides, "Nope" and flies away. ...Anger rising....

No need to burn down the house. The solution is very simple.

Short Answer: Enable V-Sync

Quantum Blocks
Quantum Blocks:
An object that is both stationary and in motion.
An object for which position can only be defined as a probability, rather than an absolute.
Which came first, Schrodinger's cat or the Lara's block?

Well, enough screwing around.
Enable V-Sync
If you've encountered this issue, you'll know just how crippling an issue this is. Fortunately, the solution is potentially simple (assuming the Refresh Rate of your monitor is 60 Hz).

SOLUTION: Enable V-Sync
+ No more flying blocks!
- Other video settings may have to be reduced.

To enable V-Sync:
  1. Select [AUDIO/VISUAL] from the ingame Main Menu.
  2. Select [DISPLAY SETTINGS].
  3. Set the [VSYNC] option to [ON].

STEP 1:

STEP 2:

STEP 3:
High Refresh Rate Monitors
For High Refresh Rate monitors, try changing the Display Mode of the monitor to 60 Hz (with V-Sync enabled).

If enabling V-Sync alone isn't helping, this may possibly help.

Credit to PsioN for pointing this out.
Burning Down the House
Enabling VSync doesn't fix the game for everyone unfortunately.

However, there is still one thing left to try (no, not actually burning down the house).

The (Desperate) Solution
Reduce graphical settings as much as needed in order to obtain rock-solid 60 FPS.

NOTE: Keep VSync Enabled for this.

The Theory
If the blocks are stupid-coded to work based on an expected FPS (in this case 60 FPS) but the game can't hit 60 FPS due to current GPU settings, then just enabling VSync on its own will not help. Reducing graphical settings will also be needed (assuming that is the only thing preventing a stable 60 FPS).

This is just a theory. There is no guarantee that anything in this guide will help.
Final Points
I cannot guarantee that any solutions mentioned in this guide will work.

That said, feel free to leave a comment if you needed to do something else to fix the issue. I'll update the guide with new information.

Thank you, Im close to hitting the 50 wins in getting over it and that game was literaly fun compared to this demonic piece of a game, i almost said to myself that I hate tomb raider underworld more than any riot game but I always quickly realised that nothing goes past that

That's seriously impressive. You have far more patience than I do.

I have a 144 Hz monitor and a Radeon RX 5700 XT. Trying the above did not work until I also enabled a FPS cap for the GPU via AMD's software Adrenaline. I activated 'Radeon Chill' under the tab 'Gaming' and then set the maximum FPS to just under 60. Violà, it worked! But note that this is additionally to enabling VSync, triple buffering and tuning the monitor's refresh rate down to 60 Hz.

Yes, at least in the previous game (Anniversary) it worked like that. Vsync wasn't enough, I had to set the display mode to 60 Hz for those areas where physics bugs prevent you from continuing (although I played most of the game at 100 Hz, which was mostly OK, but trying to go higher caused Lara's hair to go crazy :D ).

Was that something you experimented with? And did changing the monitor display mode make a difference?
PsioN Aug 8, 2021 @ 11:11am
Vsync just caps the frame rate to your refresh rate - so, if you want it at 60, you also have to select a 60 Hz display mode. On a 144 Hz or 240 Hz monitor, merely enabling Vsync won't be enough.
