The Makarov is a clear choice if you have only 4 points to spare, however if you can afford it, I recommend going for the M45A1 with extended magazines and AP ammo.
Not only do you boast the extra punch of the .45 ACP, you also have 15 rounds in your mag, like the Makarov with extended mags. Numbers may be numbers but I have found the M45A1 to kill in fewer shots more often than not than the Makarov with the same ammo type.
M249 for the sheer volume of fire, M16A4 and L1A1 SLR for being very effective on semi automatic; useful since you will always be outnumbered in co op; being able to conserve ammo while still dealing death very effectively is extremely important in co op.
The FN FAL has more obtrusive iron sights than the SLR and while the full auto capability sounds like a good thing, in practice it is nearly worthless because of the small 20 round magazine and heavy recoil.
You could argue that you can just shoot the FAL on semi instead, but then again if you are going to do that, why not take the SLR instead? Less obtrusive sights and with a quick trigger finger the SLR still can hold its own in close quarters anyway. It's also one point cheaper than the FAL.
Still good guide, also AKM is good when playing Brutal difficulty
