Introduction
This guide is not going to go into detail on any particular achievements, nor simple line routing. This is all about how to deal with the mid-late game rush of passengers.

Tools needed
  • 1 - 2 spare lines
  • 1 - 2 spare engines
  • ideally a spare carriage
Warping Trains
The basis of this technique abuses the mechanics of deleted lines and new lines.

If you delete a line, the trains on it will head to their next stop and dump everything they're carrying. If you draw a new line, the instant an engine is free from the deleted line, it will appear at the point which you began drawing the new line.

So essentially once you've got a basic 3-4 line structure to handle the majority of the level's reigions. You use a spare flex line you're constantly deleting, and moving the line to any point about to cause problems.

This saves your trains travel time that neither loops nor lines can match.

Ideally these flex lines should just connect to 3 points, the problem point, a triangle and a square. Or act as a direct route to unique points.

If you have a carriage, you should immediately pause as the train warps to the new line and replace it, since it will return to your inventory rather than warping with the engine.

Trains that warp to the new point will immediately start boarding, so this can get you out of some terrible situations. This can make having a spare engine incredibly beneficial since you won't even need to wait for the old line to finish unloading/arrive at the final point.

Hope this helps people who hadn't learned the nuances of these mechanics.
Remember don't forget to keep a baseline flow of passengers!
Because you're constantly flexing problem areas, it's not essential for you to actually have trains running to all the points. This frees you up to ignore problem areas such as points you can't draw bridges to in places like Aukland. Though don't neglect the central rapid spawn area of the map, as you should keep it moving passengers enough to get your total up.

I got all of the achievements without having to do this. It was hard, but for the people bemoaning the "need" for exploits like this, they're not actually needed

Yeah, "dial-a-ride" technique :P Good as a temporary solution for couple of stops.

Thx.

What a shame that the game is designed to require a player to break his immersion in the theme in order to get the achievements. I like pretending I'm a city planner, but the game design prevents me from acting like one.

There's also no way I could've gotten the Square Times achievement on this run without it. https://imgur.com/a/uZikjJH

Helped me get the Grey Lokomotive achievement, which seemed pretty impossible to do normally after using this method. Thanks!

Well, now this game has dropped many points for me. I don't want to have to use loopholes like this in order to do well. Unfortunately, it sounds like this is the only way to score high. Too bad. This game has become poop for me now.

This definitely is a good idea, however, this would cost a lot of time on shifting and deleting lines.

Yeah, Yopt I agree that it's unfortunate this strategy is required.

It'd be nice if the achievements could've been done with smart routing alone, but the devs opted for totals high enough to have this sort of line juggling be required to meet the goals.

Thanks for the guide, unfortunately it seems the only way to score most of the achievements, because I can't think of anything else that would allow to survive the flood.
