"The picture shows Kornilov's Shock Regiment during the Great War, you may also notice the Adrian-type helmet that French troops used extensively. Civil War's Kornilov's Regiment had only peaked caps, to underline the fact that the regiment was made up of high ranking officers during that time period, those soldiers that survived the Great War have risen through the ranks swiftly due to unbelievable valour and courage - fronts were moved 500 meters back in a single attack by these shock troops. The regiment lacked essential equipment during the Great War due to revolutionary tendencies in Russia (most of it was stolen by Soviets or never reached the frontline), bayonet charges across no-man's land towards heavily fortified positions were common due to lack of ammunition, and sometimes, even food was captured from Austo-Hungarian positions because the Russian supporting troops behind the front-line have disposed of their officers and stolen the provisions. Kornilov's Regiment was created in May 1916 by Lavr Kornilov and Mitrofan Nezhentsev. Most of their initial recruits have not seen any kind of engagement before, but nevertheless have routed veteran Austo-Hungarian troops in the first attack after the formation of the regiment. As it grew in numbers by 1919 and 1920 and reached division level, this regiment had only 2,000 regular troops, whilst total casualties since it's formation numbered 48,000 men and women that died or were injured during both the Great War and the Civil War. The average balance of forces during most battles were 1:7 - for one Kornilov's Shock Trooper there were seven Red Army Guards, including cavalry and artillery which White Army sometimes lacked catastrophically. The length of the most dangerous and violent part of the front during the 1920 Moscow Campaign was just over 400 kilometers which was held entirely by Kornilov's regiment, which at that time has suffered casualties equal to 2/3rds of its strength, fighting Red Army detachments that outnumbered it 10:1. Later in 1920s, the battlefront was so expansive in Donbass, that Kornilov's regiment had to be moved by train after an engagement, just to fight another one a few kilometers away. Sometimes the regiment saw three battles per day, without rest, holding off the entire Red Army, which was twenty times more numerous than the entire White Guard, whilst the other Loyalist troops were recovering from the unending advance of the Bolsheviks. The casualties inflicted by "Kornilov's Own" can be measured by their success during the First Ice March: the White Army at 5,000 strong (of which Kornilov's company numbered only 900 soldiers) has defeated, killed, and routed over 70,000 Red Army troops. During the Great War, Kornilov's regiment has never retreated and sometimes was the only capable fighting force across an extremely expansive front. This is why their standard is a combination of three symbols: first, the Adam's head (as in Adam and Eve - the skull of Adam was thought to be under Jesus' cross as he was crucified, thus his blood bathed Adam's skull) that symbolises willingness to die for the country (like Samurai, each Officer thought himself already dead before the battle and the fear of death was therefore nonexistent), red colour - the colour of spilled blood as a price for liberation of Russia, and finally - black, the colour of commitment, determination and soil in which the warriors shall rest after their duty of defeating bolsheviks is done."
