Making a Hearthfire Garden in Skyrim Game

Requires: Hearthfire DLC, Skyrim, Updates.

How to make renewable or plantable Gardens in a Player home or outside.

Planting a garden.

1. Place a Planter (Garden Planter container, Static Item) in the Cell (Interior or Exterior).
2. Add “Fertile Soil” from Activator list. Place on top of dirt from Planter.
3. Make a Utility Cell (Empty Cell) and add a “Planter NPC” Actor (BYOH).
4. Make certain the “Planter NPC” (if not copied) is marked “Essential” and “Invulnerable” with Script intact.
5. On “Fertile Soil” Activator, Linked Ref: is Planter NPC in Utility Cell, and also Enable Parent of the Cell [with the Utility Cell as its location], with Ref being the “Planter NPC.”
6. On “Planter NPC” it should read under “Linked From” the Cell with the Garden.
7. Use Different NPC-Planter per Crop or it will replace existing crop (vegetable). Add 1 NPC-Planter in Utility cell per Garden Planter.
8. Save & Test in game.



Garden can be planted immediately by adding vegetables and then wait 1 day or exit room and reenter room with garden. One vegetable per soil activator only. Vegetables will replace existing ones if added after the first one. Gardens can also be planted outside on the ground if not in a Planter (Static item).
