Making the DeLuxo more like the DeLorean

Introduction

If you are anything like me, then you love the DeLuxo. However, there are a few problems with it that don't really work well with the car. In this guide I will be teaching you how to fix some of them. Let's get started.

Changing the Color

Orange? Green? Red? The DeLuxo shouldn't be any of these colors, it just isn't right. Here's how to fix that.

First find where your main directory is located. Next, open the data folder and find a file named carcols.dat. This is the file which contains all possible car color combinations. Make a backup of this file now incase this step doesn't work correctly. Open this file in notepad and find the line that starts with deluxo. Select the line and replace it with deluxo, 1,1. Save the file and we are done here.


*If your DeLuxo isn't steel colored when you load your game, drive it away from where it was located. Far enough so a new one will spawn. Drive back and the new one should be steel.

Fixing Body Work

There are a few things on the body of this car that just shouldn't be there. These include a spoiler and the wrong rear brake lights. Here's how to change those.

There are 2 things you will need for this.
-The IMG Tool[www.thegtaplace.com]
-An updated model file[s000.tinyupload.com]

Once you've downloaded both of these open the models folder in your main directory and make a backup of the gta3.img file incase this step doesn't work correctly. Once you've done this open the IMG Tool. Once open select File and Open. Find your main directory and open the models folder. Double click gta3.img. Once the file is open in the IMG Tool press F2 and search for deluxo.dff. Once found it delete this file. Now, click Commands and Add. Find where you've downloaded the new deluxo.dff file to . Double click to add the file. Lastly in the IMG Tool click Commands and Rebuild Archive. This may take a few minutes to complete. Once the achive has been rebuit you are completely finished.

Now then you load your game you should notice the DeLuxo has the correct brake lights and no spoiler. The way it should have always been.
