Small DCMI or Double Crossover Merging Interchange

Beskrivelse
This interchange uses crossover roads like a diverging diamond but has road grading and lane merging configure it as a free-flow design without weaving conflicts. This free-flowing interchange design is called the double crossover merging interchange.

Mass transit DLC or road mods are not necessary but are recommended if you desire to feed multi-lane roads.

Tweaking the lanes inside the interchange is not recommended, lane balance is fine and a free-flowing interchange such as this does not need lanes for storage space like with traffic light controlled interchanges with short spanning bridges and short sliproads often do.

Awesome.

Also if you have a mod to control traffic lights check out my "Split-level Urban Diamond"

Back in the day the Cities Skylines community had little in the way of road tools but now that we all are collectively more comfortable tweaking around with roads I am comfortable enough to remove the arm stretch from this junction.

Update notes:

"Removed most of the long stretch of minor road, now just regular two-lane half length road measured at 6u. Also removed beatification so Gula's grass prop no longer required. All ramps now one-lane ramps, improve with your own where lane merges are expected."

Enjoy!

The long arms is a deal-breaker. "Authentic planning reasons" aren't the responsibility of the asset maker. I can't use this because I would have to demolish a lot of existing infrastructure to place it. I already have adequate road length for traffic to get up to speed.

Hello chrisjenx2001, thanks for the feedback!

The road needs to slope a little to reach ground level but the six-avenue is also lengthened for authentic planning reasons to provide cars with reasonably long distances to travel a good distance from intersection-to-intersection and allow them to switch lanes at their discretion or at minimum give some space for cars to wait before lights.

Great asset, only comment, reduce the length of the 6 lane avenues, as they are it's quite hard to place as it is with the long "arms"

Thanks, I believe it does strike a good balance between operational functionality and the style people expect an interchange to look like as in wanting to place it down in a neighbourhood without standing out too much.

I wish people would start to use something other than roundabout interchanges, a true free-flow dcmi without weaving conflicts is operationally better than a roundabout design.

Already put them to good use, it´s really a lovely looking intechange.

Network extensions mod not necessary but well recommended, if you want to use the mod you are able to switch the double laned ramps into fast lanes, reducing delay, but that is all.

Tweaking the lanes on the interchange is not recommended, lane balance is fine and a free-flowing interchange such as this does not need storage space lanes like traffic light controlled interchanges often do.

I hope you have fun playing the game while I spend my time in the asset editor... :p
