Introduction
Why should I merch?
Everything in Mabi either requires time, gold or NX. Merching is easy and can be done while you do your normal activities, yet can easily earn you plenty of gold. Mabi does not have a centralized trading hub, instead players rely on selling items to online players individually. This allows one to easily buy low and sell high.

Furthermore, there was a recent string of exploits that pumped copious amounts of gold into Mabi's economy that have been fixed, inflating many common items in Mabi. What that means is that playing the game for gold is worth less, while gold can be earned faster through merching as many people have more gold to spend, expanding prices ranges to ridiculous amounts.

This guide will detail the major items to buy/ sell and how to do it. Only enough information to justify why an item can be merched and a link to its corresponding wiki page will be provided. Prices ranges are just a guide and will vary from time and world. Even if the prices are off, the range gives an indication of how easy an item can be resold for a higher price.

Who can be a merchant?
Anyone. Personal shops and party advertisements*, your main forms of merching, can be done while dungeoning, life skilling, PvPing and most importantly, AFKing.

*Party advertising- Open the Party interface (hotkey P), select Dungeon, type your text and press Enter. For about 15 minutes, you will broadcast to the entire channel, at which point you must open the party interface and reselect Members Wanted.

When should I start?
The moment you begin the game. This game uses party advertisements which broadcast to the whole channel to buy and sell items. To start out, simply observe what is being bought/sold often.
To participate, ensure you have >200k and start merching the items that will be explained in this guide. Check out the numerous guides on earning gold in Mabi to reach your first milestone, or simply play the game normally, you'll find that your gold accumulates naturally in this game.

How to trade
There are 5 main methods: direct trading, mail, personal shop, kiosk and housing. Read their respective wiki pages for further details.

Trading
Pros
  • Snag great deals
  • Meet new people
  • Trade in checks

Cons
  • Slow
  • Inconvenient for active players
  • Must be online to trade

Trading is done by meeting the player and trading, often with money in checks. This is convenient as checks can then be reused without any additional fees. When trading non-consumables, this is the preferred method of trading.

Mail
Pros
  • Nearly instantaneous
  • Accessible from any major town
  • Sent mail can be left overnight
  • Convenient for active players
Cons
  • Large processing fees
  • Must be used in conjunction with a party ad, requires you to be active

Mail allows one to send an item to another player whilst requesting a sum of money. Mail is used mostly for high quantities of consumable items as it allows the buyer to AFK with an ad, then buy large amounts of goods mailed to them. Mailing has large fees if you cannot hold enough gold (not in checks) in your inventory, making this the preferred method for smaller items.

Shops and Kiosks
Pros
  • Once set up, can be left alone
  • Instant transaction for buyers
  • Good positioning can allow overpriced items to sell
  • Kiosks have a search function for buyers

Cons
  • Fixed fees for setting up shop, bad for new merchants
  • Cannot change channels or log out without closing
  • Max trading limits for shops
  • Max individual item price for kiosks
  • Must click shops individually to view items, no search function
Personal shops and kiosks tie together in a similar way, but with different restrictions. Personal shops require a license and can only sell up to a limit, 2.25m for Dunbarton, 20m for Belvast, whilst kiosks have a 1m restriction on individual item price. The benefit of shops is that they can be left alone and are extremely easy to buy from, meaning consumers are more likely to buy at higher prices. Only downside is that changing channel or logging out closes the shop. Kiosks have the added benefit of having a search function on the Housing Board to allow buyers to find items quickly.

Housing
Pros
  • Can be left overnight
  • Overpriced items will still sell relatively quickly
  • Has a search function for buyers

Cons
  • High setting up cost
  • Requires Premium Service (costs real money)
  • Max individual price limit (albeit higher than kiosks)
Housing requires Premium Service, but is nonetheless a very popular way of selling items. The initial cost of setting up a housing sale is large, but it allows the player to sell items offline. For this reason, housing is typically overpriced. Houses also act as a bank with a 5m gold limit, meaning any items that are over 5m cannot be sold in a house.

Cycle of convenience
When buying items to merch, party advertisements combined with mail is the easiest way to reach a large audience. You can do this any time, anywhere, just make sure you go to your mail to collect any goods people sell to you. This is time consuming, however, and only allows you to advertise 1 item at a time in most cases. Try formatting your party ad like "B>Ancient Magic Powders 300k mail".

When selling items, personal shops are the most convenient for buyers. After you set up a shop, it only takes a click for the buyer to instantly receive their item. This is the cycle of convenience. You spend many hours advertising to gather many items, and sell them in a convenient manner. Make sure to change the title of your personal shop to reflect what is being sold.

This also applies to browsing many player shops and buying underpriced items. The process of browsing many shops is time consuming, and more often than not, you will come across cheap items. Buy them and sell them in your shop, but always be wary of how much inventory space the item takes up. Often, visiting channels other than Channel 1 give a good chance of finding a deal.
What to trade
To know what to trade, you must know what is valued in Mabinogi.

Damage
Damage for dungeons, bossing etc. for great rewards.
Durability
Mabi runs on a durability system which affects nearly all equipment, slowing or outright nullifying durability loss costs money.
Convenience
Mabi is Tetris 2.0 with a limited inventory system and items taking varying amounts of inventory. Bags increase inventory. Also includes items which speed general activities up.
Fashion
Mabi has hundreds of different outfits, wings and weapons to try on. The Style Tab acts as an equipment covering slot which takes normal equipment and allows you to wear it over
your normal equipment. Equipment in the Style Tab do not lose durability.
Character development
The major difference between Mabi and other MMORPGs is that you can theoretically max every skill in the game. This is a long term goal and will take years to achieve, also requires a lot of gold.

Damage
Always in high demand, events and Gacha will change the price of certain consumables for a short duration, but will eventually round out later on.

Special Upgrading[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Blue/Red upgrade stones. Consumed quickly due to a luck-based upgrading system where failures reduce rank, yet still consume a stone. Comes out in large quantities due to Gacha and events, yet retain a consistent price once such events are over.
Buy for 30k/120k Blue/Red, sell for 50k/200k.
Recommended starting cash- 500k+

Enchanting Sequences[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Rank A global enchants (Colorful, Hamster, Fearless). Required to enchant number ranked enchants which include many high end damage enchants. Comes in various sizes due to being pre-enchanted on many large equips. Requires a lot of inventory space to hold many. Comes from many Shadow Missions and Strange Books (Ghost of Partholon SM).
Buy for 10-50k, sell for 100k+.
Recommended starting cash- 100k+ (or hunt for them yourself)

Enchants by status modifer[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Damage/ Stat boosting enchants. Quite simply, direct damage from enchants. Stacking these by enchanting all your equipment with damage results in a large boost. People will pay a surprising amount for damage enchants, so be aware of that. Beware that enchants may expire, and require an extra item, Enchant Expiration Removal, to make them useable again.
Recommended starting cash- 500k-2m

Pre-reforged equips from Gacha. Fast sellers, risky investments. Due to power creep and the continual increase in equipment power, these should be sold fairly quickly, but if you find the right seller, can net a large and fast profit.
Recommended starting cash- 5m+

High end weapons/gear. Special upgraded, enchanted, reforged, you name it. Tax and using Trade unlock potions plays a huge part in reducing your earnings, but if you take the risk to create these types of equipment, huge profit can be made. Often very specific enchants/ reforges are valued highly. Keep a look out for these and you might hit it big.
Recommended starting cash- 10m+

Crafting. Make high grade gear and sell it. Requires a lot of time and money to even rank the skill, let alone get to a point where you can sell equips. Often plain equipment doesn't sell very well, as Gacha spews even better stuff frequently. The payout can be extremely high when new, craftable equipment comes out.
Recommended starting cash- 10m+

Durability
What every player fears, weak or strong. When players become attached to their equipment, they will take all measures to ensure their equipment lasts.

Part Time jobs[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Holy water. Staple item that blesses items and halves durability loss. Blessings have a high chance to be lost on death, hence creating large demand. Also required in huge quantities for training the Enchant skill. Comes from Church part time jobs.
Buy for 25k-35k, sell for 40k-60k.
Recommended starting cash- 300k+

Enchanting[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Ancient magic powder. Consumed quickly and are in high demand as enchant scrolls expire (meaning one needs to use it quickly) and can have failure rates up to 86% whilst still consuming the powder. Can be sold on Thursday for a (much) higher price as the Enchant Success daily bonus means powders are even higher in demand. Stacks to 10 and can be placed in Equipment Only bags. Drops from Ancient Titled monsters and some events.
Buy for 200-400k, sell for 500k+.
Recommended starting cash- 300k+

Platinum hammers. Increases durability by 1. Items lose durability to repair fails all the time, however not everyone needs to increase durability as most items have sufficient max durability. Not very marketable, but possible nonetheless, especially if someone who doesn't need one finds themselves with a hammer. Mostly comes from Gacha.
Buy for 600-1m, sell for 1.5m+
Recommended starting cash- 5m+

What to trade cont.
Convenience
Some things in Mabi can be oh so frustrating. Gold can solve that for you!

Proficiency[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Rusty hammers. Increases proficiency by 100. Typically used only on weapons. Unproffed, unupgraded weapons are effectively worthless compared to upgraded weapons. Proffing weapons also takes a lot of time and durability. Rusty hammers save time and take up minimal inventory space. As it often takes a few hammers to fully proff a weapon, these are in high demand. Comes from events and Gacha.
Buy for 300-600k, sell for 1m+
Recommended starting cash- 1m+

Training potions. Completes the training requirements of a skill. Has the potential to save days, even weeks of training/grinding depending on the skill the potion is for. Not everyone needs potions, hence are consumed relatively slowly and prevents price fluctuation. Comes from special Gacha in large quantities, so needs to be bought cheap to turn a profit. The big ones to look out for are Enchant and Synthesis training potions, cheaper ones are Soul of Chaos and Spirit of Order training potions.
Recommended starting cash- 5m+

Bags[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Bags. Increases inventory space. Everyone needs more space. Bag coupons and Doll bag boxes come from Gacha and events. They are often a good mid-term investment, but any longer than that and a new, larger bag may be released. You should also get some bags. Gold boxes are also in extremely high demand, as everyone has to carry gold somehow. The smaller ones are more efficient, and hence worth a lot more.
Recommended starting cash- 5m+, 2m+ for goldboxes

Fashion
Express yourself! Colors, clothes, and most importantly, wings! Capitalize on this desire to earn some money.

Dyes and Palettes[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Dyes. Changes the color of equipment. Regular dyes use fixed palettes and you can choose your color from a fixed palette. Fixed dyes give a fixed color. Look out for fixed solid colors, as these sell for the most. Consumable, take up very little space, perfect!
Buy Regular dyes for 250k, sell for 350k.
Buy fixed Black/White dyes for 700k, sell for 1m.
Recommended starting cash- 5m+

Wigs. Self explanatory. Fits any set of clothes (it's just hair) and is often themed to characters, popular characters will have expensive wigs. Not necessarily great for merching, but often wigs will become rare, making them good investments. Wigs also come pre-reforged often, increasing their worth and consequently, price range.
Recommend starting cash- 7m+

Designer sets. These come and go, and are often re-released. Good short term investments.
Recommended starting cash- 3m+

Character Development
Unlocking new skills, mastering skills, that's what an RPG's about right?

Skill book pages. New skills are unlocked through collecting pages into a book and 'reading' the book. Often, people may be extremely desperate to get their hands on that last page they need, as it can often take weeks of hunting to find a page. Look out for Arrow Revolver, Shock, Ice Spear, Thunder, Fireball and Exploration pages. Beware that some of these pages are extremely common and hence worth very little.
Recommended starting cash: 100k-2m (depends on the pages you wish to merch)

Spirit weapons[wiki.mabinogiworld.com]
Gems. These are the staple food of Spirit weapons, weapons which grow as you feed them and will eventually become your strongest weapon (in some cases, these weapons need an update). Gems range from 1cm to 10cm and have many different types, most notably, Diamonds provide the largest boost of all and are the only ones worth merching on a large scale.
For diamonds, buy at 8-9k/cm and sell at 11-12k/cm.
Recommended starting cash: 2m+
Tips from a long time player
Having played this game for a long time, I literally spent all my time merching, yet I had nothing I really wanted to spend it on. It could have been a lot more fun.

Have a goal
There are so many things to do in Mabi, the 5 values mentioned before are generally what people look for. Gold in Mabi is extremely easy to get as detailed in this guide, and gold is there to make your Mabi life easier and more enjoyable.

Participate in events
This was the main attraction for me when playing Mabi, times where hundreds would gather at once and lag my computer to no end, though things aren't as exciting now as the playerbase has declined as of late.
For a merchant however, events are times for quick and easy cash as every player has their eyes set on whatever the event has to offer. My favorite event was the Snowball Fight event. Not only was the event fun, but the rewards came in boxes that could be sold. Rather than participating in the event to earn cash, simply merching the box pieces earned me millions over the course of the event. It's very similar for most events. Use the events.

Take some risks
All items in Mabi are replaceable, and the only way to get great items is to risk destroying them completely. Think of it as just part of the process, and you won't fear blowing up your gear.

Durability is there just to scare you
And as a gold sink. In practice, you will almost never run out of max durability on any of your gear (unless you repair at low percentages). Don't let it scare you or you'll find your inventory full of unused, high end gear whilst you fight with your weakest gear.

Find a guild, even if for a short duration
Things were much better a few years back, when Shadow Missions couldn't be soloed so easily. Still, guilds serve as a platform to interact with others when most of Mabi seems like its AFK. How much you make of it is up to you.
TD:DR
Have a party ad up at all times for buying/ selling
Merch upgrade stones, ancient powders and holy water
Merch other items as events/ gacha dictates
Keep a store open at all times
Keep spare cash and look out for good deals
Rinse and repeat.
