!Quick Tips!
Planning ahead before travel:
  • Be sure to save some money to go to the location you want to fish at
  • Have the license(s) for the species of fish you want to catch
  • The days listed for licenses are for real-life days - not in-game days. If you only plan to try out a specific location or plan to play for a long time in a day - then a 1 day or 3 day license should suffice.
  • Have the proper gear for the fish you want to catch
  • Read the in-game descriptions of the location and fishes - they offer information to what species you can fish; and may also give you hints on when and where to catch trophies and uniques.

Earning and saving money:
  • Achievements can give substantial credit and EXP rewards; try to do them - especially the easy ones on early levels
  • When traveling to a location - stay for more days to save money on traveling expenses
  • You can extend your planned stay by simply fast forwarding time to the next day - the game will ask if you want to leave or extend your stay. 1 extend simply costs the same as 1 planned day. There is no limit to how many days you want to extend your stay as long as you have money.
  • If your fish keeper is full - fast forward time to the next day to automatically sell all fish you have in your fish keeper - allowing you to start the day with an empty fish keep
  • Buy a bigger fish keeper as you level up; better fish keepers have better capacity, that means you can keep more fish and earn more rewards per day!
  • Traveling cost depends on how far the location is from your home state. If you find yourself traveling to a far location a lot - it might be more cost-efficient in the long-term to change your home state to that location or nearer
  • If you run out of credits and can't book into any fishing location to earn money - you can either buy credits from the store or get credits from the daily bonus.
I. Overworld Map Screen

This is the global map screen accessed by clicking the (#1 on the figure)Map icon .

In here you can choose the location you want to fish by clicking on any of the square location pointers on the map. (#2)Accessible locations are marked by a darker square, while (#3)locked locations have a brighter square with a padlock icon. (#4)Currently selected locations appear as a larger square. Each icon also displays the weather conditions for Day 1 of that specific location.

Once you have selected a location, you can view location-specific details on the right side of screen. (#5)Location name and state are shown on top - followed by (#6)weather and temperature forecasts for 5 days - followed by (#7)icons of resident fish species and licenses. A green license icon means you can catch and keep all fish of that species; while a yellow or red license icon means you do not have the license to keep some or all species of that species. You can hover over the fish icons to display the name of that species as shown on (#7) with pike.

Once you have decided to travel to a specific location, you can (#8)adjust the number of days you want to stay just above the (#10)travel button. This part of the screen also shows travel costs and the cost per day of stay you spend at the destination; as travel cost can be expensive - it is advisable to stay for longer periods the further the destination is from your home state.

Click on (#9) to show more in-depth information regarding the location (more info about this screen below). Once you are ready - press the (#10)Travel button to go to your destination.
II. In-depth location screen

In this screen you can (#1)read some information about the current location; get a more (#2)detailed view of the weather, wind, temperature, and estimated fish activity; view (#3)your licenses for the current location; (#4) buy licenses which takes you to the store; and (#5)set the current location as your home state. Setting your location to another state costs credits; but it may be advantageous in the long-term if you plan to fish in that specific location for a long time as your traveling costs is based on where your home state is.

Once you are done viewing the details of the chosen location - you can choose to travel to it by clicking the travel button - or go back to the global map by clicking (#6).

Nice guide. Only thing I would add are license requirements such as costs and special permits for each lake.
