Release date: 2015

Scudden Death 2 is a retro pixel art style real-time 2D war game. You can play singleplayer missions and multiplayer splitscreen.

The game has got 75 predefined missions, and you can even add additional levels and missions created by yourself or others. And generate random missions on the fly, using the in-game mission generator.

The game features units like soldiers, planes, helicopters, cars, tanks, boats, submarines, turrets, radars, civilians, and various xtreme units like nuke, minigun tank, gauss tank, Rambo, Osama, predator, space ship, ufo, and more. Many of the xtreme units have been added due to requests and suggestions by fans.

Singleplayer mode

In singleplayer mode, the player must complete missions to unlock new missions. The player has a limited amount of units available when playing, and the amount of units vary from mission to mission. Some units are out on the battlefield at the start of a mission, and additional units can in some missions be inserted during the missions.

The game has got 75 predefined missions, and they vary from attack missions, defending, rescue operations, and more. In the random mission generator, various parameters can be tweaked, like the amount of units at the player's disposal, amount of enemies, which level to play at, and more.

Multiplayer mode

In multiplayer mode, the players fight wars against each other in splitscreen mode, trying to kill each other's headquarters. They must buy the units they use, and earn additional money when killing their opponents units. Both players buy and insert some units onto the battlefield before starting the war, and buy and insert additional units during the war.

Original/legacy version

Scudden Death 2 is a game I originally made over 10 years ago, and the original version has not been updated since 2006, so certain issues will be fixed in the updated version I am hoping to get accepted on Steam:
The original version of Scudden Death 2 doesn’t work that well on modern computers, e.g. it only supports 640x480 resolution, so no widescreen, and doesn’t work that well on certain LCD displays, and it runs slow on some modern graphic cards due to how the game accesses the video memory. These issues will be fixed in the updated version that I am hoping to get accepted on Steam! :)

Wow! I remember playing this a few years after it came out. For what it's worth, I love the visual aesthetic, sounds, and the general "feel" of the game. It's a flashback to old shareware/freeware days for sure!

I hope these comments don't discourage you; there is totally room for games like this still. I would pay for this in a heartbeat if it were on or eventually accepted here on Steam.

You can fix your "low res" issue here in the screenshots by blowing them up 2x/3x and disabling smoothing. Would look nice and chunky!

Best of luck!

Addictive, competitive and fun game. I have spent a lot of time playing this game on splitscreen with my friend. For those that want to try it out go on the internet website of this game and download a free trial.

Everything in the trailer is zoomed out so far I can't really tell what I'm looking at.

A platformer is where you get something to jump technically it isn't really a Platformer. But I think that a Plaformer is probably the closes thing too the game itself.

How exactly is this a "platformer"?!

The concept included the editor availability are actually nice. Problems are: sound effects (really raped my ears good), small sprites, no point in having more than half the screen unused, ad excess of particles. I can't even get to think how this'd look during big fight screens with lots of flying stuff.

For the rest, looks like a more modern but even not so much remake of Mother Earth. Static tanks shooting at each other with terrain shaping rounds. Cool, but highly unoriginal.
I don't think it deserves a yes in its current state.

Sorry about the sound in the video, but there seems to be some mysterious problem with FRAPS on the computer I use, where the sound gets too loud in the recording.

90% of the screen goes unused...
