Video Description of DSP_Volume
Link to Youtube. You can comment there too!

The video goes into explanation and demonstration of dsp_volume and it's other commands required to achieve better sound accuracy. You don't need to watch it, but watching it might give you a better idea of what the command does and why we need a script for this command.

DSP affects sound that you hear. Making it sound more richer/fuller and more global, for better immersion I assume. However, I(and other people) want to play this on a more serious/competitive level so I'm not interested in full immersion. I want information, crystal clear and accurate to make decisions based on that information.

DSP_Volume is not cheat flagged in Left4Dead 2, but I heard it is cheat-flagged in CS:GO. Currently this CVar is allowed in Promod servers so don't worry about joining a Confogl/Promod server and getting kicked for it.

The Script(s)
This is all you'll need to put into your autoexec.cfg. I will not go into detail here about how to make an autoexec so please take the time to research it on your own.

Everything below is essential. If you don't put all of these into your auto-exec then this will not work! The script below is a null-cancel script with dsp_volume 0 set to every movement alias. I highly suggest you don't modify it unless you know what you're doing otherwise you might not be able to ever move again!

Does this work...?
So far everyone I've contacted seems to reply with the same reply that it works. However some noted that they "barely notice the difference". However others(including myself) noted that the difference was night-and-day. However we can all agree that it does make a difference, minimal or not!

It also seems that a lot of people (that I never messaged this guide to) can definitely agree that this works. I'm glad more and more people are able to use this to better their ability to pin-point infected. I encourage you to leave a comment down below if it worked for you though, as to help keep the guide active! Also, share this with your friends as the more views it gets the more likely it will stay on top.

Enjoy!

something went wrong with my audio sometime last year its no longer as pin point as it used to be with all headphones and it seems to be only this game. like I hear the audio but its just being played in either the left or right speaker and I have no clue why

I think "7.1 speakers" and all of those are literally designed for actual speakers, not virtual surround or anything. But you will have to test things out and find out. I know, sound with this game in general seems to be vary a lot between headsets.

hey xbye quick question, i generally use "7.1 speakers" in the audio settings, is it better for the "headphone" option or does it not matter?

Works like a charm, I can hear exactly where everything is now, before it was just all one layer of sound.
People say it affects bhopping, but i couldnt tell a difference. But even if it did, I feel it would be significantly better anyways

I'm way to late for this, but for bhopping it seems fine, I've been using it for a long time. It seems fine for me

It has been years since I've not played with null-cancel. Someone posted below a way to remove it. I've bhopped for years using this script above. Unfortunately I don't really know of another way to do it besides making an alias that loops every (x) counts and turns off dsp.

idk why, but i feel that "a" "d" feel kinda off when bhop after i applied this to autoexec

Replying to funny-letter man below me.

I believe it does, but it's a cheat-flagged cvar if I remember correctly. It's been a while since I've tested it.

I'm curious if "dsp_off 1" has the same function?
