About the Mod
This the official introduction of the story, as seen in the web:

"As the warning went unheeded,
The Prophet despaired.
Vengeance won men over,
Chaos following in its wake.
Darkness grew and the chasm opened wider.
Many teetered on the edge,
And few did not fall."
-Second Book of the Essence, Amaris

Her transformation was not entirely uncomfortable to watch.

As Keepers, it is our duty to look upon the acts of men and record their various pathways, forever seeing yet never interceding. This particular mission is no different, yet somehow the act of keeping watch was made more intimate by her metamorphosis from young sailor-trader to revenge-driven thief.

She sailed to the City from across the ocean so she might trade goods and visit with her cousin but was instead blindsided, bewildered, bewitched. Where would a frightened young woman go? What manner of beast might consume her? Ah, if only she had known it would be no physical beast that nibbled furtively at her heart.

I watched as she took up with the old pagan, he who the Lady of the Greens had long ago cast aside. I watched as her broken, desperate will was slowly forged into that of dangerous iron - hot as a coal and sharp as a dagger. No Garrett was she, but the old pagan knew many tricks of the eye and taught her well.

Tiptoeing here and there, tying threads of fate near and far, interweaving the many cords that would seemingly choke her, how could I intervene? From the beginning, it was her choice to seek revenge for her cousin, it was her choice to take up the tools of a thief, it was her choice to let the old man subdue and remake her. It is forbidden for Keepers to intervene and I break no rules, save those thoughts that are kept away from prying eyes. The observations made now are ones which will not be read for many years, long after this shell of a man has fallen to dust.

I am often given the task of watching far more mundane creatures, but this time I could not help myself, I could not help but watch the curve of her hair, the tattoo upon her cheek as it pulled upward during one of her rare smiles. The flick of her wrist as she notched an arrow that would prove to be deadly or daring. Yes...From naive sailor to taut warrior.

This transformation has been entirely all too delicious.
This is the story of Zaya and her time in the City
Install Thief 2 and the TafferPatcher
First, of course, you have to install Thief 2.
By general rule, it's better to have steam installed in another folder instead of program files when it's about mods. My steam install is: C:\Games\Steam. I am not sure if leaving the install in program files is going to cause any trouble, I don't think so but i recommend to move the entire steam folder to another one made in the root directory of your hard drive.

Then you install the fixes.

I recommend to use Taffer Patcher to fix and overhaul the game.
You can download it here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9po4JMpZfvgNkI5eDNTd3lMLXM/view?usp=sharing

You can use T2tool as well, it's a nice tool made by Saleck but i haven't try the mod with it.
Download:http://www.saleck.net/downloads/thieftools/T2Tool_v1.0.4.4.exe

Remember to uso only one of these, and use TafferPatcher if possible since it's the one fixer i will address here.

The intallation is fast, just let all the options as they're by default, EXCEPT that you need to be sure you have selected the right path to your thief 2 folder. Most of the time it will be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\thief_2
And if you changed the location of the steam folder, then you have:
C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\thief_2

Be sure that the path is right or this fix won't work!

One more thing that you have to check: there's a file named DARKINST.cfg inside your thief 2 folder. Right click it and make it sure that the checkbox for read-only is deselected.

Now, test your game to see if the widescreen fix is working properly.
Download Thief2x and Install it
(Thanks Tafferwocky)
Download the the latest and already patched file of T2x: http://www.bogadocious.com/thief/T2X.zip
This way you don't need to use T2xFix after installing.

The best part is that this version is suited to be run now with the help the awesome Fan-Missions Selector that came with TafferPatcher. So, open the program and let it create the Fms folder inside the thief2 folder (if it is not in there already).

Now just extract the content of the zip file inside the FMs folder.

Open again the selector and now you can see the mod there. Double click the icon or click in play and enjoy this masterpiece of modding.
You may want to adjust the resolution and the controls, but that's up to you!

Note: if you can't download the file, just wait and try later.

Thanks to the people who made the mod and the TTLG's community for making the fixing programs and answering all our questions. And thanks to Dunbaratu for the advice on the dakinst.cfg file (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2953663).

I hope I can help someone here to come back to the dark streets of the City in the perspective of Zaya.
Enjoy your adventure.

Thanks for the reply but I figured out... or at least it somehow works now.

I think the FMsel must select the -unzipped- file from anywhere on the computer then automatically copies it in his own FM folder where thief2 is installed. Even so the messages FMsel opens sound suspicious it somehow magically worked.

So maybe add mine and Skulls experience to the thread

Oh dear, it's been so long since I played this. I'm not ure if I can help you but, is your stem folder in program files? I also recall that the t2x.exe didint worked and you had to run it from the fan mission program.

It doesnt work.

I installed Tafferpatcher and got a nice graphic update so I think it worked I also followed Skulls advice so the Fan Mission Window opens it created a FMs Folder which I threw in the zip from the post and unpacked it but the FMsel cant find anything useful from it.

It shows me the folder names but nothing useful.

I also installed t2X from another source and have the t2x folder in my thief_2 folder in steam now it has an the same t2x.exe that Bat described a indow giving me the options but none of them works.

Like what exactly should the FMsel even find?

Does anyone know if there are any fan missions specifically built for T2X? I loved T2X and would like to play more missions as Zaya. :praisesun:

Cabal, I know it's been a while, but I found that I needed to edit cam_mod.ini in my thief install folder to change the line ";fm" to "fm" to cause the fan mission selector to start when Thief starts. Check the file in the thief install folder: docs/FMSel.pdf for info.
Jvde  [skapare] 28 sep, 2017 @ 22:33
please go to your thief folder to look for the Fan Mission executable if its not in your desktop or start menu

Installed Thief 2, installed TafferPatcher, installed Thief2x. Don't see a selector which came with Tafferpatcher, don't have any choice between T2 and T2X like Batguerra mentioned.. The only thing I can say is that I now have widescreen and high solutions.

What to do afterwards? Do I start T2 through Steam? What went wrong...... ffs I'm getting too old for this ♥♥♥♥.
Jvde  [skapare] 17 aug, 2016 @ 23:02
good, enjoy it :steamhappy:
Batguerra 17 aug, 2016 @ 22:17
@Fridtwolfe Yes I just tried that, it works now, thanks!
Jvde  [skapare] 17 aug, 2016 @ 21:33
Have you tried running it from the Fan Mission program?
