NanoTrasen is one of the largest corporations in existence, so large that they have control over various systems in the galaxy. With a focus on mining and plasma research their R&D department is also ahead of many civilizations.

They have a decent military but can easily be overwhelmed by larger civilizations. They have a history of conflict with the other Terran civilizations who'm they broke away from after trade disputes. They have a strong focus on commerce and research at the expense of things like diplomacy and expansion. Lastly, their population (or employees) generally feel taken advantage of and generally do not remain very loyal as there are often riots and discontent within NT colonies and stations.
