Building the Farm

Build a box out of any block. Add a heart lantern and a campfire. For some reason, most of the Moon Lord's attacks don't go through blocks, so the box is already a form of protection.
Make a two-wide column in the middle so you can just fit and can't go sideways
Leave a 1x1 hole at the top of the column on the side. (for yoyo fighting)
(Optional) Place a teleporter a bit higher up, place a heart statue on it and break a block underneath the teleporter: the teleporter breaks, but the statue doesn't break, it flies. Placing a block next to the statue updates it and breaks it, so be careful. If you're not bothered, you can also place the heart statue next to the column, but that's less efficient. You can't place it using blocks/platforms inside the column because slimes will go up or you won't have enough space. You can also replace the heart statue with a star statue if you're a mage and you run out of mana often.
Place a slime statue at the bottom of the column.
Hook up the statues to a 1 second timer using all three wire colours:
Fill the column with honey just enough for you to get the life regen increase when standing at the bottom.
Make a 1x1 hole at the bottom side of your box (for yoyo fighting)

It uses continous damage dealt by lava, reduced by an Obsidian Rose.
Since this isn't my design, I won't expain it myself, the video does it very well.

Using the Farm

You can use different types of weapons to deal damage to the Moon Lord while using this farm.

Summon the boss, and go to your farm, inside the column, and activate the timer. You should keep taking 1 damage repeatedly and heal it instantly. The slime's damage seems have priority over the Moon Lord's (maybe because it hits you as soon as your invincibility ceases), so you completely bypass the Moon Lord's damage.
To get into the box, either use a Rod of Discord or have a side of the column and of the box actuated (if you use actuators, you won't be able to have a heart/star statue). You could also have a teleporter on the floor (not symmetrical).
Once you're in the farm, grapple on the walls or on the floor so as to prevent any weird knockback.
You can use yoyos, more specifically the Kraken, Eye of Cthulhu and the Terrarian because they have infinite use time. Make your yoy fit through the 1x1 holes you've left (there should be a zigzag so the Moon Lord's projectiles don't go through the holes). Once your yoyo is outside your box, just use it to deal continous damage to the Moon Lord, and try to do a circular swipe over the box when you move it around, so it doesn't get back into the box.
You cannot use items like the Star Wrath because you swing it, killing the slimes and ruining the invincibility chamber.
You can use any item that doesn't hit the slimes and damages the Moon Lord through the walls or summons stuff outside the box.
You cannot use minions thatt go through walls because they will kill the slimes. Howver, you could use one mionion at a time and continuously spawn it on the part of the Moon Lord you want to damage. If you're careful not to kill the slimes, this should be very efficient.
Be careful with Solar Armour, as its shield can kill the statue mobs. This lowers the farm's efficiency, so try avoid using it with statues.
You should use stationary minions such as the Rainbow Crystal Staff or the Lunar Portal Staff to speed things up. Summon those way over the box so they can hit both the head and the arms.

Walkthrough

Enter the world: this is the base:
Take the Pillar teleporter to the left, and follow the indications to the Dungeon: take the teleporter above you on the two pillars you are teleported to and you'll be at the Dungeon.
At the Dungeon, pull the Death Lever and watch the cultists die:
Kill the Lunatic Cultist, and take the teleporter you came by.
You are taken to a Lunar Pillar Farm [HappyDays's design]
Locate the Pillar using your minimap (they're shown on maps), and check every so often if the pillar's barrier is down.
Once you've defeated the 4 pillars, go to the base and take the Moon Lord invincibility chamber you prefer.
The slime one required no defense but special weapons:
Once you're done, use your magic mirror to teleport to the base and grab the loot!
The exact requirements are given by the signs next to the Moon Lord chambers' t
eleporters.

Installation

Download the map using this link
Unzip the .rar file using a file extractor (WInRar or 7zip for example)
Copy the Lunar_Event_Overhaul.wld and Lunar_Event_Overhaul.wld.bak files to My Documents/My Games/Terraria/Worlds
Load Terraria and Enjoy :D
