How to Lunar Event (SPOILERS)

A guide on what the lunar event is, how it is started, and what to expect. (WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS)

So this is more or less a lazy guide for those curious about the new lunar event, and for those who started/ want to start it. I can't stress this enough SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSS. I warned you all proceed at your own risk.

The Lunar Event

So I've attempted the lunar event twice, keyword = attempted. The event can be started once the Golem is defeated on your world. To start it, go to the dungeon entrance, there you should see four cultists worshiping an emblem with the Moon Lord on it.
Lunatic Cultist
Kill the 4 of them and the Lunatic Cultist will appear, he is an easy boss if you have the old end-game weapons (Vampire Knives, Terrablade, Razorpine, Flairon, ect.) Now know that once you kill him you start the lunar event, and it's not easy alone.

The Lunar event in a nutshell is you againts 4 Celestial Pillars (Star Dust, Vortex, Solar, and Nebula) You will notice each has a shield around it the first time you approach it, the shield will be broken once a certain number of enemies that corespond to that pillar are kill. The Solar Pillar was the hardest for me, the easiest for most people has been the Nebula Pillar. When a pillar is destroyed it drops fragments that correspond to that pillar (Solar Piller drops Solar fragments) These fragments can be used to craft some bad and some amazing weapons and monoliths. They also can be used to craft Once all of the pillars are destroyed be ready for what's to come.....
Finally Cthulhu, or the Moon Lord, is summoned. He isn't a very hard boss if you have an arena for past bosses killed already set up, but either way he takes a few good minutes to kill. Once killed, he drops the Portal Gun and Luminite Ore and has a chance of dropping one of these:
- Meowmere (Nyan nyan nyan nyan)
- S.D.M.G. (Space Dolphin Machine Gun)
- Terrarian (Best Yoyo, yo!)
- Star Wrath (Star Fury 2.0)
- Celebration (Boom!)
- Last Prism (Rainbow Beam that eats up your mana)
- Rainbow Crystal Staff (Light Show!)
- Lunar Portal Staff (Pew Pew)
- Lunar Flare (It's Raining Blue Explosions!)

I know this guide isnt well formatted but wanted to make it to help those that are confused or don't know about the Lunar Event and want to get themselves the sweet loot that come with it. If anyone has more info on the event comment down below and i will add you and credit you in the guide.

Do this. 1 person outside, attacking. While someone is hiding with nurse. When the attacker dies the other dude goes to fight and there you go. If neither of you screw up there is a solid plan.
Don't rely on your friends though. Don't die.

Well, it's about 4 months later and I have to say: SKY RAILS ARE KEY.
1) Simply make a minecart track at about floating island level in a similar fashion as the WoF one, but make sure it is as long as possible.
2) Summon the Moon Lord and shoot behind you with a shitton of mana potions, preferably with either Nebula Blaze or Last Prism depending on what you have.
3) Enjoy.

Im not sure if this still works but I only soloed him twice not using this method, after I saw this I used it every time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wlfni6bhWQo If it still works then great if not then it'll be a hell of a fight. I managed to kill him about six times with friends but we were all in mage attire. Their are many videos which are similar to what was done in that one that are still working so I'd take a look at those. Oh and the Terrarian, if you manage to get it every fight will be 10x easier so cross your fingers and good luck mate.

I managed to solo the towers with ease using my pure mage build but honestly i dont even know where to start with the lunar lord.
4 attempts and i know what to hit/dodge but still can't even remove a arm or anything.

My mage build lets me being a tank/damage dealer to such a degree i can destroy the 4 towers in about 6 mins without buffs, potions, summons ect

But the lunar lord feels impossible.
Would love some tips.

Dammit! Almost had him a bit ago, destroyed a hand and had his health to... I'd say about a third? Maybe? Probably should've brought more Gravitation potions...

I got all the drops from the moon lord after the first 5 days of 1.3, a week later it seemed like he was buffed somehow either that or I just suck, anyways I used an expliot to kill him after the second day :)

I've actually beaten the Pillars a few times now. I find the Solar one to be hellish to beat (puns fo' days), but the Vortex one is actually the easiest for me. Somewhat relieved that the Portal Gun is a guranteed drop.
