Spellbooks and Spells

Spellbooks are found littered all over the dungeon of Barony, either on the floor, in the clutches of monsters or sold by merchants. Spellbooks can be shared, as reading the book is enough to have the spell forever. Cursed books, on the other hand, randomly remove a spell from your list and crumble in your hands, so be careful!

Spellbooks require a particular level of magic skill to be able to learn, and use the casting ability to determine a successful cast. A few spells are channeled and use mana each second. These spells can be stopped by "casting" it again.

Scrolls

Scrolls can be found in chests, on the ground, or dropped by some enemies. They are consumed on use, do not require casting or magic skills, and do not use mana. Cursed versions of many beneficial scrolls have negative effects, but can be turned into regular scrolls with the "Remove Curse" spell.

Destroy Armor
Instantly breaks a piece of equipped armor. If for some reason you've equipped cursed armor, it could be used to destroy that piece if isolated.

Enchant Armor
Will randomly enchant one piece of equipped armor. Enchanting adds 1 armor class (AC). You can enchant armor as much as you want.

Enchant Weapon
Enchants the currently equipped weapon. Enchanting adds 1 damage. You can enchant a weapon as much as you want. Each additional level past +0 indicates an additional point of damage is added. For example: +2 adds 3 points of damage.

Fire
Casts fire on the reader. No beneficial use.

Food
Will spawn one of most food types in front of the player (apple, cheese, cream pie, fish, bread, meat), all fresh. The cursed version of this scroll will remove some food from your inventory.

Identify
Will randomly identify an item in your inventory on use.

Light
Light emits from the player for a short amount of time, similar to a torch or lantern.

Magic Mapping
Using the scroll casts "magic mapping", allowing you to see the map and exit(s). The cursed version of this scroll will clear all progress you've made on the map.

Remove Curse
Will uncurse an item you currently have equipped.

Repair
Will repair the currently held mainhand item by a level of repair state. The cursed version damages your currently held item instead.

Teleportation
Will randomly teleport player on use. A cursed scroll causes you to feel "disoriented for a moment".

Amulets

Amulets are items that players can equip one of at a time, and they have a wide variety of effects that last until the amulet is removed or destroyed.

Life Saving
Acts as a second life while worn; player will revive when killed where they were standing.

Magic Reflection
Will reflect any magic back in the direction of the caster. This includes other players! Each reflection uses up a large chunk of durability.

Poison Resistance
Player is unable to be poisoned while equipped.

Strangulation
Suffocates the player until death. No positive use.

Sex Change
Switches character to opposite sex. Amulet vanishes when equipped.

Water Breathing
Contrary to the name, allows for faster swiming.
Cloaks

Cloaks are items players can equip one of, and the majority of them are plain. Some of them, however, can have rather powerful enchantments. Like amulets and rings, their powers are in effect until the cloak is removed or destroyed.

Invisibility
Makes character invisible while worn, including to monsters and other players. Monsters will not attack unless bumped into, or if they happen to figure out where you are as you attack. Torches can still be seen, though.

Magic Reflection
Reflects magic cast back at the caster when worn. Each spell reflection uses a large amount of durability up.

Protection
Increases armor class (AC) while worn.
Legendary Weapons
Dyrnwyn - Sword
Drops from King Arthur, whom is a friendly NPC. It has a chance to light enemies on fire when struck. Starts at +8 damage.

Gungnir - Spear
Can be found in chests or the center of the Minotaur's Labyrinth. Starts at +6 to +8 damage.

Khryselakatos - Bow
Can be found in chests and the underworld. Tops out at about +6 starting damage. Shoots poison arrows.

Parashu - Axe
Drops off Funny Bones in the ruins section of the dungeon. It can also spawn in some chests. Starts at +6 to +8 damage.

Sharur - Mace
A mace dropped by the armored goblin named Potato King in the swamp areas of the dungeon. It talks to the player when held. Starts at +6 to +8 damage.
Magic Staves
The following are the potential staves in game. Each staff casts the equivilent of the learnable spell they feature, and that spell will always have a certain look or appearance. The durability of a staff decreases with each use, and they do not consume the player's mana. Using staves increases a player's magic and casting skills, so it's a great way to raise those abilities if the class is otherwise unable to use spells.

Miscellaneous Magic Items
On occasion, some pieces of equipment have excellent modifiers! Some of these modifiers are exclusive to this section, such as dexterity and water walking.

Gauntlets of Strength
Increases strength while worn, much like a ring of strength.

Gloves of Dexterity
Increases dexterity while worn.

Iron Boots of Water Walking
Allows the wearer to walk over water tiles at normal walking speed.

Leather Boots of Speed
Drastically increases speed while worn.

Steel Shield of Magic Reflection
Reflects spells back as long as it's being used and actively blocking.

Steel Boots of Feather
Just like regular steel boots, only their weight is -40.

Steel Boots of Levitation
Allows player to float while worn, allowing the player to cross lava, water, and chasms.
Rings

Rings are items you can equip one at a time. Their effects aren't temporary, and thus a ring of levitation will allow you to float until it is removed or it is destroyed.

Adornment
Raises the charisma statistic while worn.

Conflict
Makes all humans and shopkeepers hostile, along with making all other enemies attack each other (and you, still).

Constitution
Raises the constitution statistic while worn.

Invisibility
Invisibility will make you invisible to enemies and players. Torches, however, will still remain visible. Enemies may figure out where you are when attacked or bumped into.

Levitation
Allows the player to float so long as the ring is worn, allowing the player to float over lava, water, and chasms. Don't take it off over a chasm!

Magic Resistance
Might lower damage from spells cast at player and possibly increase resistance to magical debuffs? Not totally sure.

Protection
Increases the player's armor class (AC).

Regeneration
When worn, regenerates the player's hitpoints significantly faster.

Slow Digestion
Significantly slows down hunger mechanics while worn.

Strength
Raises the strength statistic while worn.

Teleportation
As long as it is worn, it will randomly teleport the player periodically.

Warning
Shows the locations of all enemies, humans, and shopkeepers. Very useful for finding enemies or avoiding them.

A cursed amulet of life saving does not save you.

Scroll of fire can be used by the Automaton to super heat the boiler. They are an amazing find when playing that race.

Big question, what does the "marked" adjective mean for a spell book in it's description? The quality of items is extremely difficult to understand in this game tbh.

This needs an update. There is a boatload of spells that this doesn't mention. Polymorph, for example.

Quick thing you should change is scrolls of fire are actually useful, if you're an automaton and eat them it gives you the supercharged buff

@Julix the ring will randomly teleport you. Blessed Mirrors teleport you when you use them.

And what do mirrors do? If they do anything

How does the teleport ring work? Is it really at random times? Because i had a run with it and it mostly teleported me when I was facing monsters
