You can't change the Physics Gun hold type or model path because it's controlled by the C++ script in the root/scripts folder (most script types are blacklisted).

I could make the model invisible, but then it'll just look weird having floating orbs of energy while using the vanilla hold type. If I made the energy orbs invisible on the world model, it would also affect the view model (they share the same VMT files).

Unless I find a method to edit how the Physgun script works via Lua, I don't have a working solution in front of me (Lua is blocked from overriding C++ functions).

really late response for v92, i know nothing about addon making, but possibly make the original worldmodel really small or make the worldmodel have the hold type as pistol then make the gravity gun itself invisible?

1. What would a world model even look like?
2. You can't edit the HL2 weapon scripts because they're in compiled C++ code, so I can't even change the hold type to "magic".

Bad Add-on, 1/10, Gave Script Errors, Is not a Worldmodel. TRY Making a one where we can see it in THIRDPERSON.

Knowing how much redaction Max and Garry do when people tell them they're full of shit, (see also: Garry saying there was no difference between Java and Javascript), it was likely deleted to prevent people from calling them jagoffs.

It was way, way, back on Facepunch normal thread posts circa 2011-2012. It's most noticeable with Physgun and player model replacements.

I know the DP Films guy had the same issue with his HD Physgun replacement he made.

If you try to replace the model/materials of almost any GMod model inside the .VPK, the .VPK files will override anything you have as a legacy file.
