Update: Let's Play with Lee J
Update: Kickstarter goes live
Release date: 2016

In Rogue Invader you are the invader attacking the alien horde in this genre-flipping roguelike shooter. Game-play is smooth and resembles old-school isometric games, with modern touches and HD graphics.

Twenty years ago, the zenos began invading terran colonies, leaving a trail of death and tears in their wake. Terrans fought back, one planet at a time, while building a fleet to stab at the zeno home-world.

You arrive with that fleet, just after a series of massive space battles in which all supply ships have been destroyed. You are left with a huge invasion army but no supplies to invade with other than one million marines, one drop-pod, and one pistol.

Your standing orders are to do only one thing: do not return until the war has ended.

Will you end the war? Vote YES and then prove it.

Good luck. You'll need it.

Rogue Invader has killed it as far as first impressions are concerned.

It reminds me of playing games on my old Gameboy Pocket back in the day.

Overall, this game has an amazing concept, and is totally different from other games that come out these days.

It's not often that I'm surprised when scrolling through the Greenlight submissions, but your game has so many of the features I love in gaming - style, backstory, graphics, and rogue-like. I am excited to play it. Truth be told, I buy alot of games (I have something like 2100 in my Steam library alone), but I haven't played any of them in months. Rogue Invader is the kind of game that will pull me out of my Steam slump and get me back to enjoying gaming on the PC again. Congratulations on developing a great game and thanks for reawakening the gaming bug in me.

The game is very nicely animated, and despite the limitation [of only two colors], it manages to be sharp and well-defined visually. The menu screens have a retro feel about that that some players may find appealing, yet when you get into gameplay, there's definitely some precision spritework here.

It features a fairly deep customization system, allowing you to install different mods on your equipment and replacing parts for different effects.

Rogue Invader's developers are calling it the "world's first 1-bit game presented in pixel-perfect HD". Quite frankly, I find that discription [sic] ridiculous... but I also can't deny that as an artistic vision it has clearly panned out.

We’re immediately intrigued by the premise of a one-bit pixel shooter with rogue like arrangements and customization.

Rogue Invader looks very cool. Loving the smoothness of cinematics in that teaser.

Sad that it was cancelled but it's obviously not the kind of game to get that much interest as a Kickstarter project. Nevertheless, I don't think Kickstarter success is proportional to actual success and it would sadden me to see projects die because of lack of community funding.

We are live on Kickstarter. Pass by, get the Kickstarter edition of the game (about 40% off retail, extra resources, and some other goodies), get the soundtrack, share it with your friends.

Drop us a line to tell us what you think.
