Inset a rectangle with even edges
By SawyerDotWolf
Inset a rectangle with equal side sizes.

I made this guide because it took me so long just to figure out, so I don't forget how to do I and to show others I decided to make this guide.

Inset a rectangle with even edges

Right now when you try to extrude the rectangle to the center it has shorter horizontal polygons then verticle, this is quite easy to fix and can be done in just a few steps.

First, go to object mode and press ctrl + A it should bring this up
Select the Rotation & Scale button

Next, go back to edit mode press E on the face you have selected and quickly right click.
Then, press ctrl + B to bevel and type or move your mouse to the desired amount

To make it go in you just press E and then select the axis that goes in or out and type or move to the desired amount.
You should end up with this even edged rectangle

Kind of... you can actually press S to scale the face that the inset makes and that can determine the length of the sides. Or you can manually point pull. I'm not saying your way doesn't work, but I like knowing about more than one way to do things.

Are you saying to manually transition one axis to make it even?

you can scale the inset and determine the length of the lines.

I believe that inset won't make the borders equal size in rectangles.

Better to save time & just press I (inset) instead of E (extrude)
