Introduction
Hi everyone! When I play through FFIV: The After Years, I like to poke around everywhere to find hidden treasure. It was no different when I went through Edward's Tale. However, I wasn't expecting to find a bronze tail! I thought, "Wow, this is a neat find! If there are more of these, though, they may get hard to find. I know not everyone likes poking around everywhere, so maybe it'd be helpful to create a community guide to help others find them!" Thus this guide was born!

Edward's Tale is different from the others. To get the Gold Tail to trade in later for a Gil Band V2, you have to trade for it. The Tail Collector is at the Kaipo entrance to the Underground Waterway. Not posting a picture since you cannot miss him. Anyway, he'll trade you a Silver Tail for 5 Bronze Tails, and a Gold Tail for 5 Silver Tails. Simple, right? The thing is, monsters seem to be especially stingy about dropping items in this game, and not everyone has the time to grind hard for all those tails needed for a Gold Tail. Therefore, the developers were kind enough to leave some lying around the world for players to find. This guide is here to help you find them.

I found most of these tails by myself, but I won't lie: I got help for some of these from the Final Fantasy Wikia. It's nice to have pictures that help show where items are located though.
Damcyan
The first Bronze Tail is found toward the entrance of Damcyan. There are four flowerbeds there. In the bottom-left one is- HEY, WHO PUT THIS HERE?! *stashes it away*

*ahem* and in the top-right one is the first Bronze Tail.

There is a second one in the Storehouse. If you go down from the left-most bookcase, you'll find a secret passage. At its end is a Bronze Tail. Here's where the secret passage is located.
Impact Crater
There is one Bronze Tail in the Impact Crater, and it's not hard to find. It's right next to where you find Harley. (No screenshot for two reasons. 1) I didn't think to make one at the time, and 2) Harley's not that hard to find.)
Underground Waterway
It's easiest to start from the Kaipo end of the Underground Waterway. From the first screen there, work your way to the top of the map, then around into the water. Head as far left as you can until you run into a bridge. You'll find two tails there. You'll also find a hidden grotto if you go north from there. Here's where you should end up.

There are two more tails after you get to the Underground Falls. There's one on a massive boulder on the left side of the screen in the first part.
There's another one at Behind the Falls- 1F. At the very bottom-left corner of the map.
Antlion's Den
There's a Bronze Tail and a Silver Tail to be found here. The Bronze Tail is the trickier one to find. There's a certain secret passage you find to get to it. Here's its location. Once you go right from there, you'll find the Bronze Tail.

The Silver Tail is significantly easier to find: it's in the midst of all the Antlions. The trick is, it has to be a new moon for you to actually get it. Otherwise Edward will just say "Hey, this is a nice boulder!" Paraphrasing, of course.
Baron
There's a Bronze Tail and a Silver Tail to be found in the town of Baron. The Bronze Tail is located on the north side of town. If you go into the water from where the guy is sunbathing, then drop down the waterway, you'll find the tail at the bottom-left of the waterway.

The Silver Tail is found in the weapon/armor shop. There's a secret passage in front of the right vendor. It'll say "Authorized Personnel Only", but who's more authorized than a king? anyway, make sure to go all the way to the end and end up behind the LEFT vendor. The right one will kick you out before you can get your hands on the treasure chest.
The Remaining Tails
Even with all of these, you'll still come up short 1 Silver Tail or 5 Bronze Tails. In order to get them, there's no other way than to fight certain enemies that drop them. The Alligators, Gigas Gators, Splashers, Adamantoises, Hydras, Hundlegs Sand Worms, and Basilisks are what you want to hunt down. I personally found it best to go to the Damcyan entrance of the Underground Waterway and grind there. I found groups with Splashers , Gigas Gators, and Alligators most often there, without any Sahagins to get in the way. Happy hunting!

There's a bronze tail up on the 2nd floor of the Inn in Kaipo behind some NPC... you missed it.

Grinding for tails around Damcyan (Sand Worms and Hundlegs) also gives you a chance at a lucky Goblin Summon drop. And grinding for tails in the Impact Crater (Adamantoises, Hundlegs, and Sand Worms) also gives you a chance at a lucky Cockatrice Summon drop.

You have another tail in Kaipo, in the pub of the Inn.

Oh, so I am. I'll fix it when I get the chance.

I think you are missing the Kaipo's one at the pub

They continue to drop. I only got the Silver Tail in the Antlion Den after saving and loading my completion data, and I was lucky enough to get a bronze tail and a silver tail drop.

Do Bronze Tails continue to drop after finishing Edward's storyline? I found all of the tails listed above and got 2 Bronze Tails dropped by enemies before finishing, however they won't drop anymore. Is it just bad luck or do I have to start Edward's tale from the start and obtain them from enemies before finishing?
