By Poseidon
This is an alternate method to disabling/changing the intro for when you start up your game. It offers several other features as well.

The Basics
Okay so I figured this out while browsing around in the content folders of Left 4 Dead 2.

You will want to navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\media" in Windows Explorer. Once there, you will see a file named "startupvids.360.txt" and you will want to open this file in any text editor (probably Notepad). Once you have it open, you should notice 3 lines of text. Don't touch the first line. We don't want to mess with things that don't need to be messed with.

Now, if you want to stop Valve's logo from showing up when you start the game, just remove the line with this text: "media/valve_xbox_legals.bik". If you want to stop the normal intro from showing when you start the game, just remove the line with this text: "media/l4d2_intro.bik". That is all of the basics. I will name some (possible) features in the next section.
Other (Possible) Features
After looking at this and thinking, I have come up with some possible ideas for other uses of editing this file. I will list them below.

  • 1. Instead of changing the name of your custom intro, change the file path in the file.
  • 2. Add multiple intros.
  • 3. Use different file types of videos (might not work).
  • 4. Using images instead of videos (also might not work).
  • 5. Other suggestions?

QUITE I'm a beginner what porgram do you use to open the bik?

answer: raid tool use by editing, making blk files for all type of programes that support use of BLK files.

you can all so use raid tool watch video clips to outside the game no in use, go to game folder look around till you find nameless.BLK you can drag and drag and drop into Raid tool or right click-on nameless.blk file select raid tool to use. some media player will not play blk file type

not totally 100% but VIC players do play many type video format

You don't need to open the bik to do this but the tool is called RAD Tools. Just look up RAD Video.

This guide also has to do with changing the intro. Pretty much everyone knows that the -novid is the most common way (and the easiest) so that's why I put "(Another Way)" in th title of the guide.
