Wall of Flesh: The Comprehensive Guide

The Wall Of Flesh is the arguably hardest boss before you enter hardmode, and today I'm going to share with you my favorite way of defeating him.

General tips/Information

The Wall Of Flesh is, in many manners, quite difficult to destroy. The difficulty rating depends on what gear you are using and the weapons you will be fighting him with. I will include all the recommended armor and weapons I used to defeat him, but first, I'm going to give you some general tips.

• Always remember what way he will be coming from. Spawning it anywhere left of the center of the world will cause it to sweep from left to right, while spawning it right of center will cause it to sweep right to left.
  
• He is difficult. There is never really a cheat or certain easiest way to beat him.
  
• Don't give up if you die. If you come prepared enough you most likely won't, but if you do the guide will respawn and you can get more voodoo dolls.
  
• Have fun. The Wall Of Flesh is an absolute blast to fight, even at the edge of a challenge.

Gear

Statistics

• 400 Health

Armor

• Full Molten armor set.

Weapons

• Pheonix Blaster
  
• Night's Edge (or a sword with similar damage and speed)

Equipables

• Obsidian Shield (blocks damage from Hellstone)
  
• Spectre or Lightning boots (Move around faster, very important)
  
• Band of Regeneration (for regenerating lost health faster)
  
• Whatever you think would be of aid to you.

Potions

• Healing potions (bring quite a few)
  
• Ironskin (provides more armor, and not entirely necessary, but helpful)
  
• Regeneration potion (similar to the Band of Regeneration.)
  
• Swiftness potion (depending on if you need the boost in speed)
  
• Mana users: Mana potions

Feel free to try other things. And remember that these are only the things that, in my opinion, aid your fight.

What You Need To Build

Remember, the Wall Of Flesh will always move horizontally across the battlefield, so you are going to need to think sideways for awhile.

1) Go to the underworld. (yes, sort of given, but you never know)
2) You need to build a runway, sort of like a massive skybridge in the underworld, facing accordingly with what way you intend to spawn him. (see above)
3) Make this massive bridge around 1000 to 1200 blocks in length, and remember: the more the better. Making this out of wood platforms would be ideal, due to them not blocking ranged attacks so you are able to hit more of the WOF.
4) You're going to need to destroy most of the blocks your bridge runs into, and most of the blocks above them. A clear line of sight for firing is one of the most important keys to this battle.

• Red: Possible skybridge
  
• Blue: Possible blockade you're going to want to demolish for a clear line of sight for yellow
  
• Yellow: Possible WOF sweep position

Wall of Flesh Stats

WoF Stats:
Damage: 50 melee
Max Life: 8000 (shared between eyes)
Defense: 12
KB Resist:100%


The Hungry stats:
Damage 30 (WoF health 75%+)
45 (WoF health 50%+)
60 (WoF health 25%+)
75 (WoF health <25%)
Max Life 240










The Wall Of Flesh has 5 main parts:
2 eyes;
1 mouth;
and The Hungry, a floating enemy that will block shots and attack you.
These all have varying levels of damage and health.

The Fight

Beginning
The wall of flesh starts out somewhat slow, however having many The Hungry sprites. You will want to aim for the eyes- Your weapons do the most damage if they hit there. Just keep switching off from your Pheonix Blaster and your Night's edge (to fight off the Hungry).

Mid-battle
By now, hopefully most of the hungry have been killed off, and you will be able to aim for the mouth more easily. However, stay aware, because the Wall of Flesh will start moving faster and faster as you lower his health.

End
BEWARE- At this stage, the WoF will start firing lasers VERY fast, and will start releasing worm-like "leeches" that will borrow under the ground and attack you. However, these drop health when killed, and that is a very important resource this late in the battle. Just keep shooting, and using your Night's Edge to fight off the leeches, and eventually the WoF will die.


CONGRATULATIONS!
Welcome to Hardmode, and be aware that the Corruption will begin to spread very fast, along with a new biome- the Hollow. Also, new, very difficult enemies will arise in your world. So be aware, and have fun!
